  1. Took the wife and her family for an evening fishing trip went 7 for 13 caught 1 coho and 6 kings with 2 being over 20 pounds and the others 5-10 pounds. Caught fish on DW super slim riverside, lemon ice and yeck jerid spoons, and 1 of the bigger kings on a white double pearl spin doctor with big weenie artic blast fly.

  2. Too far for $15k ?! Lol.

So i suppose you drive 4 hours round trip to buy lottery tickets? My point is the easier it is for people to register fish the greater the participaction would be most people I know aren't going to waste a day of fishing if they are only up for the weekend and have to spend half a day traveling to register a fish that may or may not win $ 15000.00 better off to go to the local store and buy a lottery ticket for all the expense to drive that far.

  3. I run 7' rods on the low divers and 9' rods on the high divers. Wire for lows and braid for highs. You might want to think about investing in some wire, Matt. When the fleas come in thick I put the braid rods away as they become mostly worthless. I run my riggers straight off the back of the boat and only run 2 of them. I swung them out to 45 or even 90 degrees sometimes when netting green fish and the divers are still outside them.

Just a tip on braid when sea fleas are thick. Take a can of wd40 and spray down your braid before you leave the dock each morning and you will have very little problem with sea fleas sticking to the braid .All I run is braid and have learned this tip from a old friend and has worked great.

  4. The net report is for the most part correct but one net has been moved to the 55's one of the local charter boats got caught in it last weekend and it fouled both motors and broke one of the shafts. I learned along time ago that the nets are like the Badger they are not going away but it is dangerous and just stupid on the tribal fishermans part to at least not mark the nets better so they won,t be a safety hazard to the rest of us who are also allowed to use the great lakes.

  5. My question is did you buy your boat with the expectation that others would pay all of your costs to own and operate your boat or did you buy it for your own pleasure? With that I cover all the cost of owning my boat but most people who fish with me have enough common sense to at a minimun offer to help for fuel , IMO if you purchased a boat expecting everyone to cover all of your costs you either should get a captains license to make money to cover your costs or pass on ownership. A simple way to look at it is if you go on a trip with friends in your car do you expect them to pay all of your maintence cost for driving with you ? Just my 2 cents worth.

  6. Run the pickled sunshine fly behind a 8in double white crush spin doctor or a mountain dew spin doctor and the oceana behind a 8 in pearl fishscale or slick taped spin doctor.Don't be afraid to pull them on your 300 coppers I catch tons of fish on spinnies and flies on my 300's but they work best at slower trolling speeds.

  7. I would stay away from torpedos they take you line down to fast. you want to get away from the boat. Small spoons streak jrs and minis are best for spoons. the little bit larger spoon will help keep some of the junk fish off.

What weekend you going to be at sterling? I will be there next wed evening through Monday afternoon.

If you want to slip your boat while you are there check out brest bay marina it is five-ten minutes from the campground. I think they charge 25 a night 150 week. a month is 250. we usually do the econo docks for the season for 450

Torpedoes only go down as far and as fast as you let them out I have used them from the time they have come out for both walleye and salmon and are a great tool to have in your arsenal

  8. I have chased salmon out of Ludington ever year for 35 years, what amazes me is how people think the fishing is going to be the same every year. There are so many variables that effect how the fishing will be in a given year, water temp, wind direction ,forage base, the list goes on just part of the challenge of fishing such a large body of water.
