  1. I have the insulated waders from Cabela's, too. 4 seasons and they are holding up great!! I have the stocking foot waders and wear wading boots. Personal preference because I think you get a better shoe fit doing this. I can't afford to have sloppy boots when walking over stones in the river. I am for sure not a mountain goat over rocks!!
  2. chheck out andersons pro bait on the internet. There's quite a few fishing reports on there. Also, they have a fishing hot line 810 984 FISH they update that weekly. I have heard of salmon running all the way up to the State game area on M 136 where Mill Creek dumps into the Black River, but I have never fished it in the fall only in the spring with no luck. Try stopping into Anderson's Pro Bait in Port Huron. Those guys are always willing to lend a hand.
  3. It's unfishable, private land on both sides. They made that to help the water in the Black River flush out. I guess because it's such a slow current the water got pretty stagnet in the summer. People take boats out of there occasionally. There's a door on it by the lake that you never know if it's going open or closed. A friend of ours takes his boat out of there sometimes but sometimes has to push it out at the end because it fills with sand.
  4. yup, in Port Huron right at the city building or on the other side by the boatnerd place. The mouth is right there.
  5. We got out there just after sun up. 3 people on south and 3 on the north. The waves that were coming in were huge rollers. It wasn't a constant splash up over the wall, but it was happening. I live in Peck about 12 miles from Lexington and it is windier than hell out here right now. But, it always seems to be different out at the lake. They've been catching browns off the wall pretty consistently right now a guy was telling me. We haven't had our boat out since late August. Either had something going on or the weather was bad. Would like to get out a couple more times before we winterize it. Maybe this weekend? Looks like it's going to be nice.
  6. went out on the south wall this morning and didn't catch anything. No hits, no bumps no fish. Didn't see anyone else get anything either. Kinda figured it wouldn't be a good morning when you see waves crashing over the north wall.
  7. me and my step-daughter are headed out tomorrow morning for a girls day out-fishing. I'll post how we do and what we seen caught. Going out to Port Sanilac on the south wall.
  8. Anderson's Pro Bait in Port Huron said the fishing is non-stop at the city building for steelhead, browns and salmon. Casting red-eye spoons and cleo's. Anytime there has been a north blow the American side of the St. Clair River heats up big time. They're also getting a lot of "hog" walleyes down there right now.
  9. The road just to the south of the road to the boat launch. You drive that back and on the right side there is a parking lot and porta potty. There's a sign that says open from "now to now" but I've been back there numerous times when I it was "out of season" and never had anything said to me. I almost think it's Nov. 1st, though. Walk the trail back, it's paved, to the end and that's where the warm water discharge is at. That spot is also awesome in the spring for steelhead and browns. There is also at the south end of town a pier that runs out into the harbor. That's a good spot to fish for some perch and huge pike.
  10. I'm sorry, that's for Port Sanilac. I miss read your post. Yes, there are actually 3 walls in Harbor Beach. The very far north wall is the only one you can access thru the dnr launch. The other 2 are just walls, no way to get to them. There is though by the edison building a fishing access site. That's a good spot because it has a warm water discharge that flows like a river into the harbor. Seen and caught a lot of salmon out of there back in the good ole days.
  11. North wall is accessible. That's where the boat launch is. When you get to the stop light, turn toward the water. Go one block and turn left. Keep going and you will see the dnr boat launch on the right side. You can get on the north wall there. They just dredged that harbor out this summer so there won't be too many weeds. Good luck, post how ya did. They are getting them at night there too.
  12. Harbor Beach is also excellent right now on the north wall. Cast spoons and body baits. Don't be surprised is you haul in some walleye up there right now off the wall. And they're all pretty big too! You can also fish Port Austin in the harbor where the creek comes out. A lot of people float spawn there for browns and steelhead.
  13. They're hammering browns and steelhead on the south wall in Port Sanilac right now, especially in the morning. Casting little cleos and J-13's in the firetiger pattern. Also catching the occasional king. Been a few browns and steelhead and the kings I've heard of being caught have been 13, 14 and 17 pounders. Very reliable source. We went out in Lexington Heights last night casting by the creek mouth but no hits. Water was really dirty from all the wind we have been getting. Also, there is good fishing to be had at the mouth of the Black River where it empties into the St.Clair River. You can fish it on either side at the city building or Acheson's by the BoatNerd building. Cast Red Eye spoons and Little Cleos in 3/4 ounce down there.
  14. I knew I should have posted this last week. You can get minnows at the hardware store in Atlanta. Sorry, I guess I just assumed everyone knows that All the little bait shops that used to be up there are no more. Couldn't even find one in Lewiston!
  15. you can launch in Oscoda right on the south side of the river at Main Pier. There is a DNR launch there. And yup, pull glow spoons and J-plugs right in front of the river out to 120 ft. We had awesome success about 4 years ago just to the north of the river running in and out of the color line. Good luck!!

  17. And what in the heck happened up there on some of those inland lakes with all the pleasure boaters and waverunners? We've been going up there for years now and this is the first time we've had issues, holiday weekend or not! We pretty much got blown off of Lake 15 by 2 power boats towing tubes and 2 waverunners. First time ever! Water was a muddy mess from the boaters and the wakes, oh my God, we have a little 14 footer for inland fishing and we got nervous a few times. It was a shame. DNRE needs to put a 10 horse power limit on some of those lakes up there. God's country, but not for long if this keeps up.
  18. standard size silver streaks
  19. we run a couple of long lines with J-13 Firetigers. Most popular bait casting off the wall, works good trolling, too.
  20. Has any one been fishing up in Atlanta recently? We go up there every Labor Day on a little inland fishing trip and was wondering how the lakes have been with all this heat this summer. We usually fish Avery, McCormick, Lake Fifteen, Voyeur and head out one day to Fletcher Flood Waters. Usually fish for anything that bites. When we go up to McCormick, we do a little trolling program around the lake with our electric trolling motor and mini-divers. People look at us like we're crazy until we start hauling in the browns and steelhead. Big water fishing tactics work wonders on fish that have never seen it before. It's a riot!
  21. To all you guys that are familiar with tournament rules, to run a tournament, do you need to get a permit from the state of Michigan or the DNRE? We are trying to put together a fishing tournament in Port Sanilac. It will be a raffle type tournament with entry and fish getting you the tickets. $25 dollars per boat. We are all new to trying to set this type of thing up and this was one of the questions that we need answers for. All input would be appreciated.
  22. that sounds delicious. I maybe trying that one myself! by cooked salmon do you mean smoked or cooked some other way?
  23. I for sure would. If he's doing it to you he's probably doing it to other fisherman also. In my opinion it is harrassment. Throw some copper line with a big hook at the para sailer and drag his butt down into the water. Just kidding but it's frustrating when you get the leisure boaters cruising around you and they know damn well what your doing out there. Drives me crazy! We stay well away from other boaters while we're out there, why can't everyone have the same consideration?
  24. will do guys I was hoping to have a few people to show interest in this thing before we really set out to do it. Those guys are an awesome bunch in the bait store. Port Sanilac really needed a bait store and I was so glad when they told me they were going to do this. Like to see them really get going and succeed. We also need a little fun competition on this side of the state. Why should Lake Michigan have all the fun, we've got fish to catch too. Hoping next year we can do a few more fun tournaments and maybe a bigger, formal tournament, also.
