  1. Thinking something in a 9'6" fast action 8-15# line class. Will be a nice rod for either steel or kings. In St. Croix, maybe a SC96MF2 6-12# or SC96MHF2 8-15#. Sage has a nice spin blank for steel/salmon CT296 8-17#, very pricey and probably not much or any better than the St. Croix. Batson Rainshadow, and Lamiglas also make equal good quality stuff and much less cost. For that matter, the new MHX blanks are very comparible to the Loomis GLX series of blanks and at a cost that is unbelievable low. Good luck and have fun. Tony Childs Eyefull Custom Rods
  2. Package in mail today with a couple of CV's and hook keepers.
  3. Lots of my charter captains have one or two for those trips when you have lots of women aboard. One had the inscription "Snack Spot":o? Not sure what that is about. There are actually several good blanks that come in pink now. I have to admit, they really do look hot on a bright day in a rigger. I am finishing one up tonight, maybe one of the sharpest to date, i'll try to get a picture of it while drying.
  4. It is going on a hot pink rigger rod for a very special customer. Had the trim rings painted to match the rod blank. They are actually hot pink UV.
  5. Ask away, most on here are more than happy to assist. Nothing needed in return, well, maybe a success story once in a while and a photo of the proud fishermen:thumb:.
  6. Now I just wait for some success photos to come in from Robert. I love getting the photos of customers with their trophy catches on my rods. I hope to have my 2010 video of all the photos and video footage submitted during the 2010 season done this week sometime. Roberts (Boltmans) will hopefully star in the 2011 edition. I'll post a link when I get it done for all to have a look at. See how many board members and fishing buds you can identify, it really is nuts:grin:
  7. Josey, sounds good, I love it when the customer knows what they want. Boltman, I'll call you today. They are both dry and ready. I have a wedding to attend this afternoon or we could have done it today. We may be able to get together for delivery someplace. It is a wash between gas and shipping, however, there is no chance of them getting broken by the mail system if we meet:thumb:. I had a pair of balls out roller wireline rods get broken by the USPS early this summer. Good thing for insurance, but it was a very messed up process that took forever to get reimbursment from the Government!! I use several blanks depending on the application. Batson has some of my favorites, MHX has just brought out an all glass trolling lineup that is very good, and Lamiglas always produces top end blanks for the money.
  8. A four rod dryer to go along with a good power wrapper will get you cranking out ice rods in a big hurry. With standard nylon thread, you could wrap an ice rod in 15 minutes, have it drying in another 15 minutes. You could turn 4 an hour? I do a couple here and there (ice rods), but mostly salmon and walleye rods. Lots of steelhead spinners this year and a couple fly rods. It is Sulky Metallic. Good news is that Gudebrod is back in business and some suppliers already have their stuff again. Boltman, the second one is drying:D. I'd take a photo, but it would look just like the other ones.
  9. Mine is an American Tackle/Pac Bay hybrid. The upgraded chuck is essential as the one that comes with both wrappers is a POS! I may upgrade to the Ranzetti at some point. Thanks for the cudos, it was very tough to get a decent photo, the flash relfects off all that gold bigtime. Boltman wanted gold metalic and I was a little skeptical, metallics are tough to wrap, but this new Sulky Metallic is very good. Boltman was right, it looks very rich. In sunlight on the back of the boat, he might get in trouble for messing around with airliners with the reflected sunlight!!!
  10. Here's a couple of photos of the first one on the dryer. The second is being wrapped, well, actually just sitting there right now while I screw around on the puter.
  11. I'll ship the rods Monday, the Convectors may beat them to your door, it is a good old fashion footrace.
  12. I put decals on them that said "Ambient", isn't that a sleep aid or something?. Oops, it says Ambiance on the order, my bad. Looking very sharp. I'll try to post a photo of one tomorrow sometime after the epoxy sets, just to make boltman even more excited. He should be, he waited forever.
  13. Thanks guys. I found through research that this boat was a one of a kind, built custom for a fire department. It is apparantly very fast, 40mph plus, but as stated, very unfriendly around docks, and won't troll. So notta. Now looking at a 1996 Sportcraft 252 Express. Any comments?
  14. I have never even heard of a "jet" driven big lake boat. Is this the same type of jet system that is in like say jet skis, or is it something entirely different and just called "jet"?
  15. I have a line on a 1996 Penn Yann 265 with a 5.9 cummins turbo diesel jet drive. I have never heard or seen one of these, what is the deal? The boat is in showroom condition, actually the hours on the motor is only 475. Will this thing be a slug speed wise, how about fuel economy? How about troll ability? The diesel sounds fine to me but I am spooked about the "jet" drive.
  16. I would love to help you spend some dough:thumb: I love bird rods:D
  17. Yep, rip or cut a gill, let them wash around in the livewell for 5 minutes, then on ice.
  18. Glad it worked out! The fish are in serious trouble now.
  19. Yes, I did build the rod. I originally built it for the Grand Rapids show last spring. I loaded it up with all the good stuff and put a big price tag reflecting the rods worth. With the economy being what it was, it didn't move despite being the most "held" rod all weekend. Need the space in the rod racks, so it has to go. The guides are Batson/Alps TiCh frames with gold zirconia inserts. Batson/Alps triangular aluminum seat with dual locking rings. It has an amazing holo tiger wrap in the foregrip area that the photo can't do justice to. Can't wait to see some photos of Jose Wales holding a pig steelie next to it. Comes with unconditionable lifetime service guarantee.
  20. Count me in, let me know if you need anything or help.
  21. Give Don from Tangled Mess a call. I have seen it first hand, very professional and top notch equipment.
  22. What a blast fishing with these guys. We got some great video that I'll post when it gets edited. Non stop action, Don and the guys had it going on. I think we bumped 5.0 a couple of times, amazing they chase down the Streaks at that speed. Learned lots of stuff today. Thanks guys.
  23. Called on it just now, sold:mad: Looking for a similiar type boat myself, selling the Eyefull a 2002 1851 Striper WA.
