  1. I 'm adding a total of 6 more Okuma copper rods , they work awsome for the coppers . the Large eyes make it easy to get the copper with knots to pass through.

I am using all 8' 6" rods except for my braided dipsy rods which are 10' 6" . Let me know if you would like to see these copper rods . I just ordered 4 and they were less than 125.00 shipped.

  2. I may stop down and check it out , I normally enjoy soft water , and stay off the hard stuff. My body just doesn't tolerate the cold as easily as when I was younger. My Son went back to work and if they stay busy I may have to find a new partner for some of next year. Well thats a way off right now , going to take awhile to go through all of the rods and put new line on , 24 of them . so I have plenty to do this winter.

  3. I would love too , but I won't use it that much this winter and my truck has been out in cold for the duration. The boat is spending the winter up by my fathers place . Tucked in a quite shed , awaiting that time just before the ice goes out . Then I can bring it back. Hate to do it but I have way too much to catch up on around the house. Had some shots in the back last week and I can move and bend once again. So now I have to do what I put off this summer.

  4. Last trip of the season . Made our way out to 85 FOW set lines . Put out the last board and go to take over sterring and 325 fires off, Nick lost it while still out 75 ft. Says you ain't going to beleave this. Nick resets and the 6 color fires , and rigger is looking strange. Before I can get to the rigger it fires and no ones home. well one in the box any way. We picked away at a few good browns and a few shakers. Changed over to Scotty releases and I think I will stay with them . Could even see the little shakers when they hit. Pulled lines and had a few more shakers on the boards. Finished the day with 6 nice browns and 5 shakers. Only lost one .

All in all it was a good year , Starting with the Coho and having some real good days fishing. Ended up 22 fish over last year. Spending less days on the water.

Can't wait for next year. Really hate to put the boat away.

    Tight Lines

  5. Josh , a rental car should be available . That is what I decided after I found out how much it would cost to take my truck. I wanted to take my boat and it was very expensive. Though it would be nice to fish the other side but the cost was way too much , could fish a charter and still have money left.

Still may go on a trip some time .

  6. Josh I had thought of doing the same thing but just haven't had the time this year. If there is shopping near by my wife would have plenty to do. You might want to see if Michigan (Muskegon) has a visitors guide available. I can tell you that the Lake express is very impressive , when it passes you within 300 feet. Had one close call this year. Was getting worried about my outside board.

. How come your not fishing this weekend?

  7. Thanks Sherman!

I have a 125 hp merc on my new boat. I want to put a kicker on it but from the top of the transom to the bottom of the hull where the kicker will go is 23 inches. I am limited to motors if I have to use a extra long shaft. I am trying to not use a jack plate.

    Brandon

You will have to either get an extent ion kit or get the motor designed for sail boats which are extra long shaft 25" . You may want to contact mercury directly to find out the particulars. I have a 25 " 115 up main and my kicker is a 20 inch and it just makes it.

  8. I switched out my ten colors with 200 and 250 32lb Blood Run coppers. Extremely great success and fished extremely well. For those who have had bad experiences with 45lb copper, this is a completely different animal. Next season I am going to replace the rest of my five and seven colors with coppers as well. between the shorter 32lb coppers and my 300-400 45lb coppers, I fished 90% leadcore free this year. Next year I can see fishing 99% coppers over leadcores.

Josh did you do better this year than last? How much difference did it make in the daily bag.

  9. I would say it would have to be 300-325 copper. been our hot setup this year. We run 32 lb copper. On this side of the big pond the fish have been deeper this year. We also run 250 copper and a 200 copper . The coppers have even out did our lead cores this year. My 2 biggest fish this year came on 325 coppers . Combined it took over an hour to bring in these two fish. Copper also acts differently then lead core , so it can turn off too. Just depends what the fish want and how deep you have to go.

  10. Sail-boaters are annoying! I have ran into the same "train of thought" on the west side of Michigan. Similar scenario. We were fishing out of Onekama, there were two sailors coming down from Frankfort. We watched them heading south for a very long time. Both came too close IMO. We ended up on an east troll heading in for the day, mind you the sailboat was on a south course, and instead of going behind us a bit as he had several miles to do this, he cut right in front of us. Forcing us to do a 90* turn. I'm not a big fan of people like this. Just remember when they're under motor power they have the same rules to follow as any other power boat.

I have seen the same , and have seen some when under motor power and must be very stupid, as they still did the same thing.I could understand if it was in close quarters that they need to move there because of the wind, but not when 1/2 of lake Michigan is empty and no one else in site.Stop using us fishing boat for a pivot point. I wounder if we are not under power if the circumstances change. does that change things for us?

  11. I have seen a few videos where they stack 2 rods on one rigger.

Has anyone here did this and how did it work out for you. How high did you keep the second line , and what kind of lengths did you use . Were they productive?

  12. Fished this morning and found a few fish out in 220-245. Picked up a lake trout that after 1/2 way to the boat got off then went belly up or at least was dazed for quite a while. while making a rushed turn to pick up the fish lost a board, has my name and address on it . So if you find a board please give me a shout. Found a very nice 3 year old that came in at 15lbs. looked really nice with the 12 lb rainbow. Fish are out there most came on 325 copper and some on riggers , deepest was at 110 down. Fish seem to be spread out again though. Started with a triple lost the one on the rigger due to skying out of the water. Finished the morning 5 for 11. Ran flasher and flies with no takers today. All fish came on spoons. Hot spoon was a spotted frog. Sorry no photos . waiting for them my self. Will post a couple when I get them.

  13. Here is two shots the second one is with the addition of rod trees. The Manual riggers have been changed out also but in the same place. So I can run 4 planer boards on each side , 2 divers , and 2 riggers. The most I have run at one time is 11 . If thats not enough you could always run free or fixed sliders too.
