  1. Oops, my bad Jim. I knew that. They just add into the 5 in combination mix. Sorry.

as far as Chinook limits, I believe that they should raise it to 5 as that would be in line with the surrounding States and would help reduce the numbers. If the statistics provided by the DNR concerning natural reproduction are factual, it wouldn't hurt the resource. I never just try to punch my ticket with customers, so it won't hurt me there. But it is a good point to ponder.;)

  2. I'm with you on this Sixshooter.

I just want to know what of our many species have a five fish limit now?

    1.Walleye

    2. Northern Pike

    3. Smallmouth Bass

    4. Largemouth Bass

Well......hmmmmmmmmmm.....yep that's it. Seems a little funny to me that the higher limits are placed on non-renewable species that's numbers can easily be eradicated from most bodies of water if overharvested. The only one with an agressive stocking program is walleye, and then only in certain waters.

And it also seems a little premature to set these new reg's in stone for 3 seasons shortly after implementing new stocking levels on salmonoids as well as the forage base issues without seeing what happens to the fishery first. Perhaps they used the DNR crystal ball to see the future? Oops. Can't be, unless they saw the mess we are now in and just let it happen anyhow.

  3. Gee, I think that's what I said. You can ask your buds to cover ALL the lodging, food, and gas. But as far as just asking for cash online and such, again I would just discuss it in private to avoid the hassle.

    "DNR--------

    Response (Jaqueline Waber) - 03/15/2006 11:00 AM........

....People will always find creative ways to operate illegal fishing charters, so I

would recommend caution when asking for monetary help when fishing."

I mean if a DNR wanted to write you up, it's kinda like arguing a ticket with the cop. You still gotta end up beating it in court and that aint cheap!

I mean unless you like hassles!:D

  4. Don't fret. It is legal for your fishing buddies to pitch in for gas. The law is quite vague and has to be interpreted by the officer in charge at the time. Basically it states that you may take money only for actual expenses for fuel, food, bait which you spent. Asking for a set price, donation, tip, etc. may be construed as chartering.

I would suggest however to not advertise that you want money from guests, just discuss it privately to avoid the hassle. (Plus even if the judge lets a person off, it could get quite expensive!)

  5. Well I can't put Sportboat in till I'm sure we won't have another big freeze. If anyone needs a rider, just give me a holler.

Course I may pull out Manofish Destiny for a Detroit River excursion pretty soon. I could really stand to munch on some fresh wallys.

  6. Dave,

I can get the lead to you sometime in the next two weeks if you want. I think I have about 200 lbs.+ to spare. I alredy have about 100 1 lb. weights. I just need a some two lb. and 1/2 lber's. What kind of rod do you use for the 2 lbrs? Must be telephone poles!:D

Sorry I didn't make it to the show in Birch Run and see you fellers but I had some bitniss to attend to.

  7. Mike,

I got a boat for sale!

Then you can fish the new tounament I'm putting on! The Salmon on a Willow Switch With a Shoestring Line and Safety Pin Hook with a Piece of Yarn tied on While Floating in an Innertube Tourney!:D NO CUT BAIT!(no spoons, flies, or attractors either!)

    Just Kidding, Just kidding.

I agree if you don't like the tourney rules, don't fish it. Otherwise why not weigh in Carp at a Salmon Derby?

Some folks will win tournaments by learning and utilizing a myriad of fishing techniques so that they can cover any situation that arises. What they are left with is deciding which to use at any given time.

Others will win by taking just a few strategies and perfecting them.

So again I vote that if it is lure specific, or manufacturer specific; go ahead and limit what is acceptable angling in tournaments.

The tournament format that Caz puts on sounds like a blast and I only wish I could fish it.

But for general tournament rules, any legal method should be allowed.
