Went to Muskegon office on the 21st for my TWIC appointment. I found it quite short and painless.

I still can't say that I agree on the necessity of charters to be required to obtain this though. It is to enable us to enter certain restricted zones? I asked if this would get me to the discharge at the Cook and was told no way. So just what restricted waters and areas am I going to enter that the recreational boater won't be allowed in?

So what does the session involve? Fingerprint? Background check? Polygraph? Putting my hand over my heart and reciting the "Pledge of Allegiance"? What else?

Should I bring my own lube or do they supply it??:eek:

The Insurance Shop sells charter policies through Freemont Ins. Co.

It's a good policy at a fair price. Freemont seems to really care about taking care of their policy holders.

Just based on my own previous experience when trying to file a claim, I would opt for an agent closer to home that sells Freemont policies. Any that do can offer the same policy you would recieve anywhere else. Giving business to an agent in your own area doesn't hurt your business if you are promoting yourself to the locals. Also dealing with an agent you know, they may be more likely to do all it takes when bad things happen to help promote their business in the community as well.

I'm with Capt. Bill on this. This termination is simple and it really works well.

I used to use crimps too, but feel that it may in fact put a weak link in my line.

Our largest King was 24.4 lbs and took the top pro spot in the SWMSH contest for 2007.

Not bad for St. Joe! We also took the top Laker spot. Maybe another trophy too, I don't keep track too much and haven't made arrangments to pick up the trophies yet.

We had a skam that tipped the scales at 20 lb. even but the customer was in a hurry, it was late, and we couldn't find a certified scale to get it officially weighed.

There was a 12 lb. walleye weighed in at Broadlows that was caught on Wednesday. Awesome bonus!

I just put mine back on. No problems.

I know that we enjoyed some real fine catches of perch on our charters last season. Inquiries for perch trips are increasing, and with the gas prices I may have to push perchin trips a little harder this year. Plus the kids have a Blast when we're on a good school.

I have a regular customer who was ill 15 times his first trip, about 10 his second trip, and never since following these directions.

1. Stay out of the bar the night before...

2. Get a decent nights sleep the night before

3. Eat a moderate breakfast (not too greasy)

4. Start taking Less Drowsy Dramamine two days prior to the trip and continue taking the regular dosage till the trip is over. (taking dramamine just prior to the trip will sometimes actually cause the illness itself)

5. Bring plenty of water, gingerale, ginger snaps for the trip.

6. Avoid the lower cabin if at all possible.

He has taken three trips a year for the past 3 years without issue. Any folks who follow this regimen has been fine also.

You can't have too many lead core variations! But a couple half cores, full cores, and 2.5 colors will get er done for you.

If you are sinkin a walleye board with 4 oz. of weight something is wrong. I have run 1/2 lb. balls behind them. (Just don't stop or turn too sharp)

I even know a capt. who runs 1/2 lb balls infront of full cores to acheive even more depth. It works for him, but I call it a tangle waiting to happen!

THE toughest boat is my Sporty. Marinette leads in toughness.

Definnately not the Beemer of the water like some are, more like a big ol Olds 88. Great for the crew when the weather sux, they can be inside without being down in the hold.

For an attractor I try to match to the mood of the fish.

Without mentioning names I will say that I recently found out first hand to ask around and be wary of any "too good to be true" firms. The insurance company and policy I bought was fine and were pleasurable to do business with, but only after circumventing the agent. Be sure to check out the service history of the individual agent and how they respond to and handle claims.

It does look nice and I'm sure it will catch fish, but man o man I got so many stingers now I have to blindfold myself to decide which one to run. (heck they all catch fish!)

I'm pretty confident that I could operate with just a dozen different colors and not notice a difference in my catch. I just can't bring myself to gettin rid of all those other pretty ones!

Clean as many fish as most full time charters do and you'd get pretty fast at it too! ( especially when the brew wagon is sittin close by:D)

A nice 8 point my first night bowhunting, missed a nice buck second day of rifle, two does muzzleloading, and one late season doe with the 300WSM.

Passed on several bucks form spikes to 8 pointers during gun season hopin to lettum grow to bruisers next year.

I've been making a variation of that (hold the corn please) for years. Amazing how much the guys who were sick of eating walleye and northern (!??!) midweek in the Quebec tundra liked that soup!

I initially made it from ready an acticle in a magazine (F & S?) about how to get a meal from catching small bluegills on ponds and lakes with a stunted population.

While that segmented scenario works in theory, actual practice might prove otherwise.

I have tried the "in between splices" on leadcore and the problem is the drag realized between due to the weight of the heavy leadcore between the rod and the board.

So far as rollers for lead core, I have used both rollers and conventional setups, and either one seems to do the job just fine. This is on many charter trips and many fish fought.

Either setup should do just fine way for recreational use.
