  1. I lived on dutchmans bay road and there has ALWAYS been a sign there and they DO charge when a dnr rep came through. they used to drive right past my house on their way there.

I have a couple more things to say on this issue then i am done.

I dont agree with everything the DNR does by any means. and yes i do have complaints about some things they do. But you can't fault them for DOING THEIR JOB AS MANDTED.

Last item who do you think pays to keep those launches up. they cant do it for nothing. THey have to pay people to clean up after the slobs that use the launch and trach it. I hate the garbage that flew into my yard because of some of the people using that launch. the 25 bucks you spend for a year is nothing to make sure their is a launch in good shape to use. They can very easily hand those launches over to the communities and then you will see paying to launch a boat.

I have been fishing there for years and never saw a sign until yesterday. It is a new sign right where we always get the boat ready.I never saw the can where you put your money in either, until yesterday. The same thing with Ironton's launch.

  2. Well the only launches around Gaylord or East Jordan for that matter that you had to pay was the State Parks or the city launches. There was no signs that stated that you needed a launch permit. Now you have to have one for even the small lakes.Take Dutchmans bay launch. You never had to pay to use that launch and now you have to pay $6 to launch.Or the ironton Launch you didn't have to pay.

  3. if you look at the website there is no such thing as a free launch. depending on which jurisdiction it falls under you either need a waterways sticker or a state park sticker. The thing is is that the DNR never really enforced things the way they should in certain areas so people thought they were free. I have an uncle that was a parks manager and was in lansing for a while in the parks division (retired now) and two uncles that are COs and here about what other parks and COs are not doing that is their job. Also when i got out of high school i worked for the fisheries division for three years before deciding to go to college, and we always were to report vehicles in those type launches when we went out to do creel checks or plant fish.

Well most of the dnr public launches up here in northern Michigan that are not city launches or state park launches you were not required to pay. And now you have to have a launch permit. But if you want to go to a state park you have to buy another sticker. Our state DNRE sucks.I guess they are just trying to get us to fish only certain places. Because most people can't afford to buy both.

  4. I just heard that the DNRE is starting to charge $6 to launch at most of their free launches. That's not good. when these were free to launch and now we will be charged. You can buy a season pass for $24 but you still have to have a separate sticker to get into a state park or vise versa.

  5. Well I am not sure how much leadcore I should run. Probably half or full core. Now can you put a full core on a reel and only let out what you need at that time. Like lets say half core one day 3 colors the next and full the day after.Rod doesn't matter I can get a downrigger rod for it.I am not sure on price yet just on the cheaper end.

  6. Don't you think all of these fishing shows should have more information on how they are actually fishing, not just show them catching fish. The techniques they are using and actually telling how they go about doing it a certain way.
