Hit the water around 4pm with my dad and headed to 120 feet. The lake was gorgeous and flat as plate. Hit our first fish on an east troll in 112 FOW, 57' down on the downrigger with a dark purple magnum size spoon. The next fish came in 110 FOW, 70' down on the downrigger with an orange Mepp's Cyclops spoon. First fish was 8 lbs, second was 10 lbs.
What a gorgeous night on the lake. Was like a mid-summer day, with warm air and coolish water. Have fun out there!

All I can say is WOW! Those are some beautiful fish. Thanks for sharing with us.

Nice job everyone. I would have loved to fish this one, but had morning commitments. Hopefully, we'll make next month's!

Had some time this evening to get out for a few hours. Headed out to 140 FOW and set lines. Had a hit almost immediately and landed a nice 7 lb. king. That was all for us the rest of the night. He came on a dark purple magnum size spoon, 70 feet down on the downrigger. Nice night to be on the lake. Wife was hoping for a limit, but the way I see it, the less we catch, the more you appreciate ones you do catch:thumb:

Nice Job out there!

Had the Lk. Michigan shakedown cruise today. I can finally declare the boat FIXED. It ran great and we had a beautiful day on the water. We ended 4 for 4 and took two fish home. One coho, one chinook, and two lake trout. Here's what worked:
Heddon Tadpolly (orange with black dots) 60 FOW on west troll off board: Coho
Orange Thin Fin 32 FOW, 20 feet down on rigger, North troll: chinook
Orange thin fin 38 FOW, 25 feet down on rigger, West troll: Laker
Orange thin fin 52 FOW, 25 feet down on rigger, East troll: Laker
Was happy to have a safe trip and an operable boat. Have fun out there!

Wow! Those fish are amazing. It's hard to think that there are some sturgeon out there that were hatched around the time of the Civil War. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like a great day on the lake. Nice Job out there.

Thanks for the link, Ed.

Jim, I've enjoyed watching the progress you've made. Looks like you do top notch work. Good luck with the rest of the project!

If you have enough space below the floor, you can use toggle bolts and not have to access below the floor. I've use toggles before on my boat. They have "Never Drop" toggles from McMaster-Carr (mcmaster.com). They work great.

Great photos Izzy. Helps ease the winter blues!

I'm going to try for the first time this year. Mostly out of South Haven.

Great looking dog! Always nice to have another member of the family. I'm sure Lady can show him the ropes just fine.

Nice job on the bunnies! I went with my dad this weekend too. Didn't see anything, but enjoyed the walk outside.

That is one good looking boat.

I upgraded last year and can't say enough good things about them. Highly recommend them also.

Sounds like the guy in front of you was on his phone or texting. Yeah, I agree with you. I drive like a little old lady and know that I do. So when I see someone is trying to pass me, I slow down and let them do it. I think as long as you slow down after you pass the guy to the speed limit, you should be cut some slack. Sorry you got the ticket though.

My brother holding a fish with me for the first time in 15 years!
My first ever saltwater adventure.
Didn't get much fishing in this year with the new house and boat still not fixed. Hope to make more memories next year.

I dont believe the internal gps unit come standard with a nmea 0183 pigtail like the external gps units do. So for your Humminbird you will need the as hhgps kit. Your. Cobra radio should have the nmea 0183 wires hanging out the back. You will need to identify them with your owners manual. Once you get all the wires identified you will need to hook the Humminbird nmea 0183 + out also called talk to the nmea 0183 + in also called listen on your cobra radio. Also the corresponding ground wire too. To gain full dsc capability you will need to obtain a mmsi number online and program that into your radio.
Tip: Those nmea wires are probably some of the smallest wires you will ever work with there's only 1 easy and effective way to connect those wires. That is using yellow scotch lock connectors. They are gel filled and do not require and stripping of that tiny wire and you can find them at most home improment stores like lowes or home depot.
Thanks Ryan. I thought I needed a special cable of some sort. I'll look for those connectors too.

I also upgraded marine radios a few years ago with the same technology you speak of. Not trying to be smart, there are directions in my manual instructing how to hook it up to utilize this function.
I found the directions for the radio part. It is just getting from the sonar to the radio I am getting hung up on. I think I need a special cable.

This past year I upgraded my Sonar/GPS and Marine Radio. I found out that you can hook up the marine radio to a GPS antenna and it can send the Coast Guard your coordinates if you ever need them when you call on the distress channel. Sounds like a good idea to me if I can figure out how to connect the GPS from my sonar to the raido. Anyone ever done this before? I have a Humminbird 788ci sonar and a Cobra marine radio (fixed mount, not a handheld one). Any advice would be great.
