  1. This was my best year ever, although it was my first! I have learned so much this year and really am happy with 2-3 fish average for my trips. I believe only 1 skunk this year which is pretty good for my 1st year. Next year will be better as i continue to learn.
  2. Well maybe i will have to slip him some salmon come Christmas! Derek is an amazing angler as well. I'm gonna send the pics to my old man, he'll get a crack up out of that. Who would think that my uncle would be all over the internet, in a good way!!:rotflmao:
  3. Hey thats my uncle Jim and cousin Derrick in that last pick. That on the Bay or up North? Jeez Dan even the internet is getting to be a small world
  4. Great Day on the water!! After 2 weeks off thats pretty darn good:)
  5. I never take the beer out of the fish cooler to put in other cooler until there is a fish in there and sometimes the beer still stays in there:grin: Adds flavor! Never assume/say that you are going to slay 'em or that a fish is caught until its in the cooler. Most importantly, do NOT trust NOAA predictions!!!!!!

  8. Well said Dan! I have learned so much about salmon slammin and have met some great friends through the sharing of information. Congrats on the promotion to moderator, just dont try to delete my posts:grin:
  9. Nice catch Jay! Is it just the pic or did u milk it :rotflmao:
  10. Good catch Jay! Sounds like a great day on the water. I have a wedding in Whitehall the weekend of the 2oth, should i bring the boat or fish all in the river by then? Any advice:
  11. She looks like a comfortable fishing rig right there. Grady are a sharp looking boat and hear they fish nice. Nice setup!
  12. Fishwhipserer and I fished 6-9 in 45'-85' ended up 1-1. 5# king on 5 color with B/W spoon as a we reeled in lines. SLOOOOOWWWW night with only a few boats out and didnt see any caught. 2 riggers, 2 dipsies, 2 core- spoon, plugs, flies, 1 rapala-------Notta! Oh well any night on the water is a great one. At least the water and beer was cold
  13. I was thinking that same thing. Backwards clip is great idea. I had 2 older church boards that kept slipping and replaced clip with OR 16 clips and really like them rather than wrapping technique. PS- Just got a board back yesterday from St. Joe that I lost almost 2 months ago, guy called me who found it 4 miles out. There are still some honest fishermen left out there
  14. Good call Mike. U saw it coming from the beginning didn't ya? No wonder you get so many fish in the boat, u can sniff em out just like this. :rotflmao:
  15. No probe or riggers for me so i usually run around 2.7-3.1 on GPS and keep an eye on my dipsies. Works for my little skipper But then again i am pretty new to this game.
  16. Nice Catch! I guess the SWR rigged with NBK was doing alright for ya:jump:
  17. Did Fishwhisperers deboning on the one king and it was pretty easy to do even for my shaky hands. Didnt bother with the Lakers, wanna try to get them smoked. I need a smoker:(
  18. My buddy got to reel in his first king on braided dipsy:grin:. Let him reel in them leadcore mostly too :rotflmao: Heres a pick at least:
  19. Ran out of pier heads into 58 degrees and sat down in 35'. Started setting lines and had a rip on Bloody nose 6 color in 45fow, shook the hook as heading deep. Turned an ran thru 45' again same rig took off. Laker. Thats 1st one felt like Laker so we turned west looking for kings and didnt have a hit or mark til 100fow. Braided dipsy at 2 out 220' with mountain dew SD and No See um Fly- Laker again(first greaser on fly ever). 8 color core with MS FlounderPounder took a laker. Full color with MS Hapee Meal took LAKER. Braided dipsy at 1.5 out 110' with glow J plug took 7# king. Ended up 5/6 for a nice night but could not get outta the lakers from 45' to 110'. Better than nothing though. More Lakers than i caught all year total:rolleyes: Oh well guess Ill just have to fish more.
  20. I will keep an eye out for ya's as SH is my main fishing destination. Usually out in my 16' tan Nee Hi or in Fishwhisperers 19' Rinker. Tight lines!

    Nee Hi

You want picks of the fish from yesterday? Sned me ur email and i can send them and some Nee Hi pics for ur screen saver:lol:
  25. To quote Fishwhipserer and another guy: Take the fillet and cut it in half. That cut should be made where the first bone is at. Then make to two cut, in the boney fillet, on both sides of the bones. Basically you cut the bones out. You do lose some meat. It 's much easer to show someone than it is to type it out. If use the pulling them out with pliers method, it helps to put them in the freezer first. Just long enough to firm them up first. Randy Make a cut lengthwise on the fillet above the row of bones. It will be angled a littel toward the top of the fish, just feel the bones. This will leave you a "loin" piece seperate from teh main fillet. Then make the same cut below the bones. You will cut out about a 1/4-1/2 inch wide strip of bones that goes back about 2/3 the length of the fish. Much more enjoyable to habe boneless eating. Well worht the small amount of meat lost. btw You can leave the loin piece attached back near the tail where the bones end if you prefer. personally, I just take it right off. UP Power Left basically 3 pieces to each filet. Loin above pin bones, chunk below pin bones, tail section. Lose small portion of meat connected to pinbones if that makes sense. As Randy says easier to show that type.
