  1. I picked one up just a month ago from "fish on bait and tackle" in nunica, mi for $379. I bought it at the fishing show in grand rapids so it may have been a "show special". I do not know if they do any internet sales but i could locate the number if you wanted it.
  2. Same thing. I was on the previous list for all events and if it stays the same weekends then i can still do them. If you need to change the dates i will have to let you know which ones i will still be able to make. By the way if you need any help i would be more than happy do what i can, just let me know. Thanks again for picking up the ball on this one Nick!
  3. I have never used the thin fish before. What colors do you guys suggest.
  4. I also like the owners that jim suggested. I helped the long winter months pass by switching out all of my spoons.
  5. I got my berts set up at the outdoorsman pro shop in jenison. they had the cheapest price and because i bought my whole set up at once (6 holders, 2 risers and 2 pieces of track) they gave me a discount on top of it. although i am not sure what they would charge for shipping they do have a website you can order off of.
  6. I liked being able to adjust my rods a little left or right, it gives you a little more sepperation at the end of the rods when running a triple pedestal set up. I also liked that you could run dipseys out of any of the bert's, (you need the heavy duty version with the big jons which cost about $40 more) it gives you a little more diversity on how you can change up your spread. All in all they are both a high quality product that will give you many years of service. I doubt you would have regrets with either. If you do decide to go with one of the more expensive setups make sure you go some where that has them set up so you can see first hand how they work and which one you like better and better fits the needs of YOUR boat and budget.
  7. When i first started outfitting my boat i did it on a "budget" and now i find myself upgrading everything:o. Personally i do not care for the big jon holders (I have two big jon captains pack riggers and love them) but the way they adjust seems awkward to me. Last year i upgraded to "bert's" for my boards and dipseys and absolutely love them. I think i spent $500 on my set up ( 6 adjustable rod holders, 2 four inch riser platforms and two pieces of track to mount it all on) and have never had any second thoughts. The other reason i liked the berts over big jons is the left to right adjustment. The big jons only go up and down and the berts can be adjusted left or right also.
  8. The guys at fishdogco have always taken very good care of me. Another suggestion would be the outdoorsman in jenison. I bought a couple of cv45's with a full cores already set up for around 45 a piece at the end of last summer
  9. I picked up a depth raider just last week, cant wait to get the boat out of storage!!
  10. The depth raider and the subtroll both come with a nylon coated downrigger cable that replaces your existing cable and this is how the info is sent to a antenna mounted on the rigger. The fish hawk has a transducer that mounts on the back of the boat and the probe sends its signal up that way so you do not have to replace your rigger cable. In both cases the probe is mounted just above your weight on the cable. Hope this helps. Dave
  11. Hey guys, I was looking to upgrade my transducer for a lowrance lcx25. I was told that i could get a transducer that would pick up both of my cannonballs while trolling. I believe he said that it was a 50/200 khz dual frequency, is this correct. Currently i have whatever came with the unit and i can pick up one of the balls on occasion Just wanted to make sure before i spent another $100. Thanks in advance, Dave
  12. Well i told myself that i wasnt going to spend any more money on the boat this year and I dont even have it out of storage and i have already spent $400! Well thank you,I really appreciate all of your input and i decided to go with the depth raider. I really liked the analog display on the sub troll but i liked how small the probe was for the depth raider. I liked the new fish hawk best of all but the price was just too high for my budget. One last question, did you guys use the crimps that came with the units or did you switch it out for the Klincher upgrade that MOOR makes and is there any reason that it wouldnt work for the depth raider. Thanks Again Dave
  13. Thanks for the book. There was a note that had your name, mine and then Bigtuna. Does Bigtuna want it next?

    Thanks again,

    Dave

  14. Thanks for the input guys. i found the sub troll for $379 at the outdoorsman in jenison and they said it would be even cheaper this weekend at the fishing show. does anyone know who has the best price on the fish hawk and the depth raider.
  15. I know this has been discussed before but i am looking to get either the depth raider or the sub troll ( i would not be opposed to the cannon but i heard they were going to discontinue them) this week and would like to get all of the feedback possible. I run a 17 ft lund with 2 big jon electric captains packs and remove them after each trip for storage so ease of disconnecting is imperative. Any thoughts or input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  16. Sign me up for all five events. I cant wait to get the lines wet!!! Thanks!
  17. I would be interested. I will send a pm with some more info.
  18. I run 4 core (10,7,5and 3), 2 dipseys and 2 downriggers both with a stacker. In my very limited expierience I have not found any of them to be better producers with any sort of consistency. You could keep your mono rods and get a couple of dive bombs and run them off inline boards. this way you can keep the rods versitile and if they are hitting core off boards you run the dive bomb, if they are hitting downriggers you can still run your two riggers plus stackers. Hope this helps.
  19. Most of you mentioned that you check the wether/temp charts. What are you looking for on these?
  20. Once you are out on the water how do you determine where to put lines out. Other than talking to guys coming off the water (which are hard to come by at 430am) is there any sort of system or is it just set lines and start trolling?
  21. thanks for the help guys, it is greatly appreciated!
  22. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong but i get my lead core tangled alot. Is there a certain order i should be putting them out or something. I have a 18 ft boat and i run 2 riggers, 2 dipsys and 4 core (10,7,5 and 3) off inline walleye boards. Is there something i can do to prevent this from happening so often? Would a planner mast and big boards help? Any info would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
  23. I am relatively new to the sport (this is my second season with my own boat) and i am looking to find out some info on a fishing club that runs out of port sheldon, holland, grand haven or muskegon. I picked up the "tourney trail" but i am looking for smaller tourneys that dont require the big boats or large entry fees. If anyone has any info it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
