  1. Fished 5:45 -8:45 am

5:50: 19 lb king, 225 copper, 112 fow, MS Mag RV green jeans

7:30 am: 225 copper with same spoon, 125 fow, 9lb coho

7:31 am: while fighting the coho both full core and rigger down 75 ft went off, tripled up running solo. Fought a big fish on the leadcore(five eyes RV) and the coho and let the rigger(Shelly snack)run.

Rigger fish got off. Got the coho to the boat but eventually lost the bigger fish while netting the coho. Was a crazy 15-20 minutes.

    All hits on NW troll.

No more hits after the triple.

  2. Put in at 6 am and trolled from 110 to 160 ft and back to 130 ft for three hours without a hit.

9 am 6-8 lb Coho(scale battery was dead), downrigger down 60 ft, in 130 fow, north troll, flasher fly, 2.75 mph.

9:15 am, 6-8 lb coho, 225 copper, 125 fow, meat rig, north troll same speed

9:45 am, 110 fow, 225 copper again with meat rig, peeled off what seemed like 200 yards of line, fought it for I’m guessing 25-30 minutes but wasn’t gaining any ground. Finally worked my way back to helm to slow down more and it broke off. Rats.

  3. I was one of the O’fers. Marked some bait pods and a few fish in the 125-130 fow but couldn’t get anything to go. Fished from 70-160 Fow. Tried 10 color, 225 copper, rigger and dipsy at different times, various depths and speeds with spoons and flasher flies to no avail. I pulled lines early at 7:30. Definitely not an early bite for me.

  4. Went 2/2 today, finally got out after I installed a new water pump kit on my kicker motor.

    Fished solo north of Holland.
1-small king, 3.3#, 9:27am, ms std rv sniper on free slider, stb DR bk 55, 2.4 sog, N, ball temp 50.7, down 80ft, 156fow.

    2-steelhead 5.13#, 9:39am, ms rv burnt bread, stb DR bk 55, 2.4 sog, N, ball temp 50.7, down 80ft, 150 fow.

When I sent the 1st setup down a second time. The steelhead hit the main lure just as I attached the sniper slider to the main line.

Beautiful day, bit of shake down cruise.. Temperature break was at 70-80 ft down. lake was almost flat. Rougher closer to shore than out farther.

Almost was buzz by a drone near the CG station. Hovered over my boat as I just got inside the no wake zone and was heading toward the channel entrance. It surprised me at the crack of dawn.IMG_20240524_131342.thumb.jpg.7e99aadf9453d33f1391e2582ce8452f.jpg

Better luck than me! I went 0-1. Lost a Steelhead at the boat when it took a tail dance. I thought he was spent.

Shelly snack, rigger down 85 ft, 30 ft back. 2.5 mph sog. North troll. 125 fow. I fished north of the harbor. Beautiful morning.

  5. Glad you had a flatter lake to fish on today versus Sunday and were able to put at least one in the box in the middle of the day.  Thanks for keeping us updated on the bait location - seems to be holding at the same depth for a couple of days now.
Brad's cut plugs, I am a big fan.  They are a money rig in my arsenal.  I see that they are now offered in UV . . . . . I feel a lure purchase coming on :).

Ha! I went to Outdoorsman Pro in Jenison last winter to pick up a few lures and such. The guy asked me if I was still out trolling. I said no just spreading out the purchases so my wife doesn’t think my addiction is too severe.

  6. Had a little time mid morning so I went out solo and trolled 10-1 pm. Put in at 100 FOW. Trolled out to 160 FOW then back in to 90 ft.  Marked a good amount of bait and fish at 130 FOW.

1/1:  6 lb Steelhead, 125 FOW, SWR down 65 ft, brad’s cut plug candy corn with Alewife gel scent.

Only a couple of boats out made for a relaxing troll. Still a lot of current to deal with.
