Nice fish!
I went solo this morning out of Holland, 7-9:30. 1-1, small king in 88 fow, downrigger down 25 ft, mag bloody nose. Marked a ton of fish from 50-95 fow. Just not biting what I was offering.

Solo outing from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. 1 for 2. 9 lb king. Had a double and landed the first one. Managed to keep the second one hooked up but lost it at the boat. 34 ft of water. Lost the fish on Kevin’s girlfriend SD with pickled sunshine fly, 5 color. Landed king on rigger 20 ft down with green jeans spoon. Most of the reports of success were in 50 ft of water.

Took the wife for a quick boat ride 5/4 evening out of Holland. She says go ahead and wet some lines. Fished 7:30 - 9 pm. Had a double going right around sunset. 1 for 2. Landed 11.5 lb king 15ft down on pump handle with moonshine spoon in 23 ft of water. Lost the other fish(5 color, double pearl sd with bloody nose spoon). Beautiful night on the water.

13 for 13 today from pier south a few miles in 15-28 fow; threw back two small ones and the last fish of the double.
All fish on spoons, except one on high line with gold/bk w/red lip hot n tot.
1&2Color, 2 high lines and 2 Big Jon mini disc dipseys.
Mini Nascar and Greasy Chicken Wing spoons did the trick on 12 of them.
ENE winds 15-20; speed 2.3 or so.
Nice work!

Yep, planers and cranks. Just when you think you know what kind and color they want, another one becomes the hot bait, so I shotgun each trip based on conditions and then try to dial in color / type / depth if I get enough hits to make a pattern. Try to play chicken with the drop offs as the fish like to hold against them.
My biggest walleyes have come on J-plugs looking for kings though. Which is weird as if they are targeting big lures, I also run a lot of deep thundersticks for kings and have never had a walleye hit one of those.
Very helpful! Many thanks.

Fished Holland Harbor Friday night and did my part to help strain the weeds out of the channel and lake. Cycling through rods non-stop to keep them clean. No marks at all out front in the 54 degree water so didn't waste time in there. In two passes down the channel didn't see much to stay in there either, so went into Mac. Had one big rip in there, missed one hit, and caught three (3) small sheep. Pulling lines in the near dark looked over and one rod tapped a couple times like a perch hitting a minnow, but the board didn't move. Looked suspicious so we pulled that one next and found a 21" walleye hanging out.
Mac has walleye but it's a tough nut to crack. I fished it six times this year and caught walleye twice. Granted, when I do catch them, they are very nice, healthy fish. I crack up when I clean the walleye we catch on the bay - a 20" walleye in the bay barely cracks 3# but the same fish from Mac is usually 4#+.
How do you fish the walleyes in lake Mac? Planers and crank baits? Target depth? Thanks

I lost a ball a couple of weeks ago the same way. No probe on it though. As you say happens really fast. Thanks for the report.

That’s some real world maneuvering!

You ought to be able to tell from the photos where we were smoking em!
Sad truth is we did poorly out in that 50-70 at sunrise and the crew was pretty much despaired and giving up and then Mid-morning I trolled us straight in and right there heading in we had 3 go off almost instantly
Some nice big fillets!
Size3 and size4 plugs mainly
Although 12” flasher took the biggest
They were pissed off and fought great!
Dead calm beautiful morning and noboddy around us…
1 minute ago, 2MD said:my son was nice enough to track and type out our setup that worked:
#1 Wonderbread size 3 plug – 5 color
#2 Standard size Rv Flounder pounder – rigger
#3 Scaly Golden size three plug – rigger
#4 12 inch Purple Fishscale paddle with Honey Phil Phil fly – diver
#5 Chrome Redhead size three plug – diver
#6 Chrome redhead size 4 plug – 5 color
#7 Scaly Green size three plug – rigger
#8 Scaly Golden size three plug – rigger
...and Aaron he apparently knows you and was gonna just message or call you about leader length... decent but not extreme I'd say... definitely use 40-50# mono because they take a beating

1/1 on salmon and 1\1 on sheepshead
1. 6:45 am, 5 lb king, full core, 83 fow, moonshine spoon
2. 7:30 am, must have been a 15 lb sheepshead, I didn’t bother weigh it. Lol
Most everyone else was much deeper but I was too stubborn to join them. That’s the problem with running solo. No one there to tell you you’re stupid.

Nice work 2md.
It was nice out there today.
1/2 for real fish and can add a Sheepy.
1. nice King lost at boat, full core, 90 fow, mag moonshine spoon
2. Small coho, wonderbread sd and spoon, 80 fow, down 50ft on rigger
3. big sheepshead. I will spare you the details
Also had the privilege of spending 45 minutes retrieving a loose planar board. I did get it finally though.

thanks cool yes we blast by your place all the time (well not really anymore with the no wake haha) I'll watch for you here as fall fishing is just beginning... good times
thanks for the info on the slide diver too JDH... that makes sense 40-50 down because even in PS buoy cold water is creeping higher in the column by the hour now... gonna go out with my sons in the AM so this info you provided tonight really helps... debating even running 5colors in the AM... we shall see
My bad. I see you know.

sliders aka Saugatuck Dunes
so about half way down between Holland and Saugatuck
Ps. I see you guys going out often. Nice boat. I live in the most east house on south side of the narrows. White House blue roof. Directly across from Marigold.

First hit just south of the sliders. White plug on a slide diver back 125. In 80 fow. Marking a few fish here and there.
What does “south of the sliders” mean? Thanks!
