As some outlying Chicago suburbs draw down their wells, many are looking to the vastness of Lake Michigan as an alternative supply. But experts say low lake levels combined with legal restrictions could leave communities high and dry.

make them a deal close the Chicago Canal permanently and force Chicago to build a sanitation system that puts clean water back in the lake and I am OK with selling them water. The problem now is all the water Chicago and those areas use leaves the Great lakes because of the canal. Other than companies bottling and selling water all the water we use stays in the system. Like it has for thousands of years.
