  1. Today I had the pleasure of fishing with Don M, Joe S, and Bob. It wasn't near as fast as yesterday but we still put a couple in the box before we could get set up. A glow chartreuse spinner was HOT and we were done putting 20 eyes in the box about 9:35. We also farmed two keepers at the end. Speed was 1.1 to 1.7 MPH. 3oz BB off the down rods and 2oz BB off the 10 Offshore boards. Bob and Joe were the young pups and Don and I the old dogs. Don and I just growled at them until they got it done. Actually it was a great team effort, with everyone onboard knowing exactly what needed to be done. It made for an easy trip for all of us. We fished 27 to 32 FOW. It's an ever changing game and you have to stay tuned to what the fish want. The set backs that were good yesterday were not acceptable today. Most fish taken were at or near the bottom. I gave my 5 fish away. I can't use near the fish I catch and the folks I give them to are always grateful. Gotta Luv Dat Bay.

  2. And Frank, we'll be in the same place you visited with us last year. Hoping to put Griz and his sisters on some good action during our family vacation.

Give me a shout when you get up here. Those kids sure are keepers. If ya need a grumpy grandpa to help out just let me know.:)

  3. I fished with Mike T, Skip S, and Chuck A. It was a fairly quick trip to punch our 4 man ticket. We farmed 3 keepers at the end. All colors were going at at one point we had 4 fish on. 3oz BB off the down rods and 2oz BB off from 10 Offshore boards. 25-31 FOW with a speed between 1.2 and 1.7 MPH. As usual I gave my five away. Surface temps were 67.5 to 69 degrees.

  4. VHF Radio, Gps/Loran, Depth/Fish Finder, Stereo, Compass, Swim Platform.

Great fishing boat with open floor plan. Single Inboard 7.4l with plenty of power. This would make a great charter boat or just casual fishing boat. 10 ft beam. Dual battery's, wash down pump, head, rod holders, vhf, sonar, gps, aft curtain and more.

Also selling Dock in Au Gres or can be combined for great deal. The boat has been well maintained.

    $15,000.

This is a friends boat contact me and I'll put you in touch with Joe.

  5. I had the extreme pleasure of fishing with Ken aka Nailer, Ken's uncle Walter, and Joe S. The wind was slightly stiffer than it was supposed to be to start but not too bad. We had a steady pick of some eater size walleye. 28-31 FOW. The surface temp was approaching 70 and the walleye were a little more aggressive than previous trips. We started with 8 Offshore boards and two down rods. As conditions improved we quickly added two more boards to the spread. It was a good time with good people. 2oz BB off the boards and 3oz BB off the two down rods. We took some high fish and low fish with nothing much in between. Colors were glow chartreuse, hammered copper, and hammered nickel. Speed was about 1.3-1.7 MPH. The down rods did more than their share. I call the fish on the down rods, "Pennies from Heaven." Thanks Walter, Ken, and Joe for making my day on the Saginaw Bay.

As I do most of the time I gave my 5 fish away.

  6. I fished with John, Ken, Ryan B, and Joe S, and finished strong for a 5 man limit. We are the over the hill gang. Ken caught his first walleye today. 1.0 to 1.7 MPH pulling 3 oz BB off the down rods and 2 oz BB off from 10 Offshore boards. 27to 31 FOW. Hammered Copper was good as was hammered nickel, and glow chartreuse all #4 Colorado spinners. I gave my fish away.:)

  7. Sun I fished with Tom D, Mike T, and Don M. The winds were reasonable but the drizzle made use dig out the rain gear. The bite was tough and light and if it were not coaxed it just didn't happen. Good rod handling and finesse were very necessary today. We toughed out a 4 man limit. Speed was 1 MPH up to 1.6 MPH. 3oz BB off the down rods and 2 oz off the 10 Offshore boards. I gave all my fillets to an appreciative neighbor. Hammered Copper, Gold, and Glow chartreuse were all good. 26-31 FOW. Our biggest fish was about 23". Thanks Mike, Don, and Tom, for joining me on a less than desirable day. :)

    Anyone fishing the weeds? :)

  8. We have had our two youngest grandchildren visiting all week. Alex is 12 yo and really getting into all outdoor sports. Alex and I greeted Chuck A, Joe S, and Darren H aboard the P1 Thursday. This was Darren's first trip aboard Priority1 and he took to our methods well. Our bite was very tough and we didn't have all day because Joe had to get on GMs clock. We boated 27 keeper walleye farming 2 at the end. BB and Meat in 25-35 FOW. Our 3 oz down rods were very slow today only taking one keeper each. We ran 10 OR12 Offshore boards with flag kits. Surfaces temps still low for this time of yr at about 64 degrees. It was slow pick with the fish just gorged on bugs. There was bug casings thick on the waters surface. Speed 0.7 to 2.5 MPH. Glow green was our best color and a hammered copper close behind. we used all #4 blades. We took some decent fish from 15-1/2" up to 24". The bite was lite and I tried to stay on the helm most of the time to coax the neutral fish into hitting. I had to resort to my force feed em methods. A couple of the fish were packed so full of bugs they looked like spawning females. One in particular had numerous undigested dry bugs in it's guts.

  9. Great job Frank.

I love to hear of people taking kids fishing. Keep it up.

I'm curious, it sounds like you stuck with spinners and crawlers? I would have switched to hot 'n tots and crankbaits if they were feeding on minnows.

If you don't mind sharing, what was working when the 'flurry' kicked in?

Feeding on minnows yes at some point but they were not suspended. We scraped every one of the fish off the bottom.

Alex is 12 and is very good at netting and getting the boards off. I love to fish with kids.

  10. I had the pleasure of fishing with Tim, John V, Mike R, Alex J, today. Alex is my 12 yo grandson. The bite was challenging to say the least. We marked a lot of bait and the fish we caught were gorged on minnows. I resorted to the force feed em method. 2oz BB off from 10 OR12 Offshore boards, 3 oz BB off two down rods. Speed was 1 MPH up to 2.4 MPH. 27-35 FOW. A glow green was our best color but everything produced. We had a little 13 fish flurry on the end to finish us up. We just had to figure out how they wanted it and then gave em lots of it. We farmed 3 keepers. 5 person limit with a nice 13' bonus perch. Our two largest walleye were 25". Great Day with my grandson and good friends. A big thanks to Mike, John, and Tim for joining Alex and I on the Saginaw Bay. :)

  11. I'm Cari and my husband is Jason. We have started fishing again and are getting our boys into it too.

We now live in GA and miss Michigan's Great Lakes, but don't miss Jan, Feb and March ;)

We hope to learn from this site.

Also, we have a start up rod holder business and we just received our first parts. Check it out. www.stealthrodholders.com

Cari and Jason, A warm :welcome: aboard. It would probably be better if you started your own thread in the Welcome Center rather than hitching on to another persons thread. No real harm done just a suggestion to keep the board flowing in the right direction and to recognize you properly.
