  1. Nick - Thank you so much for the tow yesterday. The boat is already back @ the shop, that just repaired the outdrive. Hopefully it was an issue with their repair or a faulty part; Read - low cost. We did not lose power, just started hearing an unusual knocking and quickly shut her down.

For those that requested pictures, I have one that will NOT be released. I actually downloaded an image from the Spyglass webcam as we were going by.

    Thanks again Paulywood!!

  2. Bummer. . . based on the reports from the week, we headed out to 115' and set-up. We were the only boat @ the PS launch. After being knocked around for a few hours and 2 of the crew being sick, we headed into the skinny water. Nothing going north of PS, so started heading back out. Had only a shaker on early that went back into the water. Fished from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Should have started skinny to the south!?!?!?

  3. Rough day on the lake this morning. Started in 1 footers (70 FOW) which built to near 3 footers by 8 a.m. (120 FOW). The wind & the current were very strong to the East. However, the Holland & GH webcams shows calm water right now. The fish were scattered but some pockets of a lot of fish. We went 1/1 - 10# King. Heard a few more caught, but most returned to the dock with empty boxes. Water is still fairly warm top to bottom, through 100 FOW. Only hit/fish came on a wire diver with green glow frog spinnie & white glow fly. Fished 6:15 - 10:00 a.m.

  4. We were also out of Port Sheldon Sunday morning, but got a later start than Phil. He hailed me on the radio @ one point to let me know he just passed me - hint, to the north. He was kind enough to share some information over the cell phone. . . and we continued to fish, often side by side.

On his last troll west, he passed me again - I'm a slow learner, picking away at the fish. This was about 10 a.m. and our frustration was mounting, as we and others were trying to mirror Plumkrazy's presentation. From a later discussion I understand Phil pulled lines @ ~11 a.m., which was about the peak of our frustration. After going 1 for 2 early on a rigger, we were almost 4 hours without a fish. . .

Then the fun began for the next 45+ minutes:

7 color core - big rip; gray, glow J-Plug ripped off the leader!?!?

7 color core; reset with a Smurf - 1 steely ripped the treble hook off the spoon; replaced the treble and boated the next steely

12 color core; NBK, 2 high flying Steelies - lost one.

5 color core; Moonshine Happy Meal - steely & king

300' copper; mag Bloody Nose - newbie lost a large King 30' from the boat

Finished the day 5 for 10, pulling lines ~12:30 a.m. All fish in the 8 - 11# range; none weighed.

    A BIG THANKS to Phil for helping with the late season tips. They are still out there, so go get them(~;

  5. Kevin,

We had a good weigh in @ the Benefit 4 Kids tournament in Muskegon, with our big fish @ 16+ lbs. I was excited about that, since we have not done well out of PS this year.

So, as Lloyd said to Mary in Dumb & Dumber - "So you're telling me there's a chance... YEAH!"

Sorry for the cheesy response, but unfortunately it is the first thing that came to my head!?!?! Must be sleep deprived. Anyway, great job on the fish & I'll talk to you on the lake(~:

  6. . . . there were many good boxes weighed in today. Ours was 61+ lbs, which put us only 8 or so pounds from the top, but it was stacked around the 111 point mark. We pre-fish last night and found the same temps, with the cold water hunging the bottom. Fish the same exact water this morning with similar result: 2/6 last night & 5/~9 this morning. We circled around 2 waypoints in 65 FOW about 2 miles north. 4 of our fish and most of the lost fish were on spinnie/fly setups & wire divers.

  7. We fished out of Port Sheldon for 6 hours last night and never got the skunk out of the box - 0/2. My neighbor's cousin fought what we thought was a huge "fish" for a 1/2 hour on a 300' copper set-up. When he finally got it to the boat, we had a 6 foot log, the other copper line, and a wire dipsey. I brought the line to the board - due to earlier mishaps, and was sure there was a fish on. . . besides the few "runs" it took. Our story is, "it was a big one".:angry2::lol::eek:

  8. Alex,

I am still having radio issues. I can transmit a loonnngggg ways, but I am having issues receiving.

What did you get the big king on?

It was a funny thing Mike. . . I had a cheap red & green glow lure I grabbed from a $1 box @ Lakeshore Outfitters, because it looked cool. It was set 120 down on the rigger w/ a green dolphin free slider. The king hit it so hard - read cheap for $1 above. . . the spoon almost bent in half. Also, after zig-zagging on the surface for most of the way in, it dived twice around the rigger cable & we still managed to net it(~:

  9. GJ Mike. . . We were out of PS and heard you on the radio, but could not get a call back!?!? Your signal must have been stronger than ours.

We did not want to go to Wisconsin, so we tried set down in 150 FOW & trolled out to 230 FOW, then back east. We put I nice 14# King in the box right @ 6:30 a.m. and that was it. Enjoyable day on the water, but definetly June fishing.
