Sounds like you had a fun trip. Double check your leaders and knots this time of year you don't want to miss the big one! The fly bite has been great lately.

Congrats!!!

You can try using a scooter clip to attach your weight and run a longer lead to your flasher or spoon. This way you can take the heavy weight off before you land the fish or you'll have heavy lead spanking your boat and other eqiupment landing fish.

Great work, how deep were you targeting fish?
Didn't much matter, I caught fish on 2 colors to riggers bouncing bottom. I ususally run a spread of everything and if something is consistant I will throw more in that zone.

Nice job, Tom. Hopefully you get the biggins before you leave

Nice job guys, congrats on the 20lb'r Jarod!

We went out around 6:00 - 6:30 and usually started pulling at 9:30. We averaged about 2 fish setting lines and the majority of fish came in the last hour. This was consistant all 4 times we went out. We would of stayed later but the kids get antzy when it gets dark.

Nice job Andy! Looks like you need a new net.
One of my nets are alittle shorter thanks to my brother. He knows now to point the handle in the air after he nets but its hard to remind him in the middle of the hootin and halloring......but makes for great fun memories.

Had some vacation this past week and had time to take some of the family out for some nite bite action. We had the Mikes Eye Fly bite going for the big fish including a 16lb Laker and 17lb King for my sister in-law and daughters first wire diver experience. A Mixed bag of Plugs and Spoons took the rest of the fish that were all good size. The family randomly picked fly's, spoons and plugs and it did not seem to matter much on the spoons from Silver Streaks to Pro Kings. The best water was 80-90ft. Over the coarse of the previous weekend and last weekend we did not have a problem getting some action as the sun was setting. The Kings are getting dark and ready for the runs up the rivers so get your family's out of the air conditioning and show them some great pre fall fishing.

Ive really considered buying those new Jose's they have, since well, its my nickname and all. How do they fit? are they smaller? I havent seen them in the store and would just be buying them online.
I wouldnt say they are smaller. They fit fantastic and give a great field of view.
Adam Bomb.....Costa's will fix em if your fault for 12 bucks or if it's there fault for free for life... Atleaset that is what I remember reading.

The marker north of south haven is the rockaway ship wreck. It use to be a white barrel. I haven't seen it in a while but its possible that its a blue barrel now. My buddy from work hit it about a month ago.

I have the costa Jose 580G's and love em. The blue mirror is great but the wife complains she can't tell if I'm looking at her or not!

Looks like there wasn't any issues when I came in after the fireworks and went to the slip. I've seen it more crowded on a Sunday afternoon at the ramp. We went out and came in after the majority and had 0 issues. It was a great event.

Went out for a few hours mid-day to try for some Steelhead. We saw some high flyers today! Love these things. We had alot of sea fleas so I only ran 1 clean rigger and the rest wire divers and planer boards. South West troll in 110-125fow best. The green Alewife Mikes Eyefly took 4 hits 137ft out, landed 2 nice steelhead. The silver streak mini green with neon green dots?? Like a green perch UV or something took 2 more steelhead on a 10 color. Nice king on a Oil Slick Eyefly 157 back on the wire. King on a Stinger NBK 60 down and a small coho on a 200 Copper with a Streak purple frog. I had a chance to break in the new fish cleaning board I made for the marina(See Below)!

Bolted outta work, met the wife and kids at the boat. Fished from 7 to 9:30. 110-125fow sw troll worked the best. Took a nice king on a wire diver 135 back with a Oil Slick Mikes Eyefly. I put the skirt on backwards to give a little extra flare for grins. Took 5 min for the king to hit. 10min later I bumped up the speed to around 3.5sog and steelhead smaked the other wire with a eyefly green aelwive. I have to say I am impressed with the hook set on the Eyeflies, I havent had one bump and run yet. Rest of the night a Laker came on a silver streak green huckleberry down 80. Then the sundown was kicking in and I was hoping for everything to go and only to a smaller king on a 5 color with a NK Pink/Orange/Green tape. Where is the sundown bite?? I haven't been good with that this year???

I was woke up this morning from a fellow member in need of a special delivery on the water. They were dehydrated, also needed ice and did not want to leave the fish. So with no twist of the arm I woke the wife and kids up and headed to the lake. Met up with the Nee-Hi in 120ft and made the exchange, wished them luck and veered off to set some lines. Picked up a few fish, threw some lures overboard and hooked up with a nice steelhead. After unclipping the board my 4 year old son Evan finished the fish off. We brought it into the Porthole and weighed in @ 15.6lbs taking first so far on the leader board for big steelhead for the year. Word from Adam says he has seen alot of big steelhead coming in, so get out there and get you some.
What worked: Silver Streak lemon Berry,Silver Streak SOG, Mini Mixed Veggie, U-M Froggie and Purple Froggie. Stinger NBK, Stinger Copper spoon with blue and green took the Steelhead.
