  1. Rifle Country!!!, I love it!!!

I usually stand in front of the gun cab. scratchin my head.

Remington 30-06, Winchester 30/30, Both with 3-9X40 Sportview scopes, CVA Hawken, CVA Missouri, I think their both .50cal, 1 with a scope, 1 with Lyman sites, and a .45 cal pistol.

A single shot 20 gauge, and a .22, for varmint control.......

  2. I personally will not take a 40 yd shot. Not to toot my own horn but I'm a great shot with a bow.

I only kill bucks. I've watched many wall hangers at 40 yrds and just will not do it.

Somebody above mentioned something about variables.....yep I agree.

Last years buck took a double lung shot and flipped over dead after a 10 yd sprint.

I don't like tracking 'em for 4 miles.

Ditto on the 20yd kill zone.

  3. Mad mad bow hunter here.....

The ole lady thinks I'm nuts, I go straight Rambo for the season, camo at the dinner table, knives strapped on, etc. etc. The Works!

  4. I've got great land with lots of bunnies, you supply the dog!

(I got a bird dog, she don't work real well on bunnies, unless they smell like pheasant)

Don't hunt 'em myself, but if you want to when the snow flys just let me know!!!!!

  5. Played in the 3-4's with the occasional 5

Heard a few nothings going on.

    Lake started laying down 9:30/10.

Had one good rip at 9am and nothing there once we got to it.

Temp was still 66 35 ft down.

Heard of a guy get 2 back to back in 115ft 70 and 80 down 12 and 5 lbs

Saw a 24lb'er at the ramp, only 1 the guy got, but I'm ok with that!

  6. If you consider a car or truck averaging say 50 mi/hr, 3000-4000 hrs is equivalent to 150,000 - 200,000 miles - sounds about right.

    Good estimate!

My truck has an hour meter on it. 1174 hours and 48,000 miles.

So's at 3500 hours, should be right about 150,000 miles!!!

  7. I always kid with the guys while fishing the tourneys...

The GPS gives ya best times to Fish/Hunt.....I'm pretty sure its moon phase related......

So if its 9:20 and nothing going on, and the GPS says "Excellent" at 9:30, I always tell them to go man the riggers and get ready cuz the fishin gonna start in 10 minutes! :P

P.S. 4th on the ole lady thing

  8. *Direct Parasitic Attack

    SEA LAMPREY

*A lamprey is an eel-like animal with no jaws that can live in fresh and salt water. It attaches to prey.

*Origin:A problem in the Great Lakes for more than 50 years. Native to the American and European Atlantic coasts, it may have entered the Great Lakes through canals.

Traps, sterilization, and barriers have controlled lampreys but not eliminated them.

    *Length:Up to 85cm (2.8 ft)

*Environmental Threat:Lampreys attach to scales of fish and suck out body fluids, often killing the fish. Lampreys have decimated trout and whitefish populations. One lamprey can kill up to 20kg (40lb) of fish a year.

*Attack on Base of Food Chain

    Spiny Water Flea

    *Freshwater crustacean with barbed tail.

*Origin:First discovered in 1984; believed to have been carried in ballast water of European and Russian ships.

    *Length:Slightly more than 1cm (0.4 in)

*Environmental Threat:Voracious eater that depletes plankton, the microscopic plants that are the basic food for many small fish and invertebrates.

Larger fish can eat water fleas, but small fish can't swallow them!

    *Predatory feeding on Young Animals

    Round Goby

*Bottom dwelling fish that uses its fused lower fins to cling to rocks.

*Origin:Black Sear; believed to have entered the Great Lakes when ships from Europe discharged their ballast water

    *Length:Up to 25cm (10 in)

*Environmental Threat:Eats large amounts of young fish and eggs

    *Competition for Food and Habitat

    Eurasian Ruffe

*Small perch like fish with sharp spines on fill covers; primarily a bottom feeder.

*Origin:Native to northern Europe and Siberia; apparently arrived in ships' ballast water.

    *Length:Up to 12cm (5 in)

*Environmental Threat:Ruffe move into an area, reproduce rapidly, deplete food supply, and drive out native fish.

They are currently endangering the lakes' populations of walleye, pike, and perch.

    Have a Nice Day!

I didn't write this, some interesting reading I got in a flyer in the mail..... Just figured I'd share it with all!!!!!
