  10. If you don't get a deer this year, maybe you can bring home some bacon instead. State wildlife officials are encouraging deer hunters in 23 counties to shoot any wild hogs they encounter while afield this fall. Feral hogs are known to cause habitat destruction and possibly spread disease to domestic swine. Although the possibility of humans becoming infected from wild hogs is considered remote, hunters who kill hogs are encouraged to take the animals' heads to the Department of Natural Resources field offices for testing. Hog hunting is legal in the following counties: Arenac, Bay, Baraga, Clinton Cheboygan, Gladwin, Gratiot, Hillsdale, Isabella, Jackson, Lapeer, Lenawee, Marquette, Mason, Mecosta, Midland, Montcalm, Montmorency, Newaygo, Oceana, Ogemaw, Roscommon and Saginaw.

    Opening Day

I wasn't real motivated but the ole lady kicked me out to the north farm. (We have 3 80's all within a 3 mile radius, no houses or cattle on the north farm- perfect deer holding farm) The fog was pretty thick but seen lots! Got situated, had a friggin buck come up behind me and first light, couldn't turn, didn't wanna shoot yet, looked like a nice shooter etc etc etc, Had another come across my front 20 minutes later at about 75 yds, and with the amount of deer didn't want to shoot yet etc etc etc Had a 3rd come from the south and was heading right for me about 1/2 hour after that (after I played with a doe for 10 minutes)...... He turned and exposed a nice bodied deer that gave me a nice broadside shot at about 90 yds! 3 1/2 year old 6 pt 4x2 that dressed out about 150 lbs, hanging! Great opener Ive seen in a while! Probably seen about 25 ish myself with the 3rd buck getting killed!!!

    3 Bucks

"Another misconception is that you can tell the age of a buck by the size of its antlers. This simply is not true. The only real indicator of age is the calcium deposits located in a deer's mouth, called the teeth." http://www.bowsite.com/BOWSITE/features/articles/deer/aging/

    Buck 1 GLF 0

I don't think that really counts as a Buck 1 Glf 0 type post. Scenario 1- if you were in that stand and the buck Looked right at you snorted and bolted, that I think would constitute 1 to 0. Scenario 2- if you were in that stand and the buck jumped as soon as you shot and you missed, that I think would constitue 1 to 0. Check your GPS, mine has hunt/fish times, I know these aren't exact but I can get a little grip on key times........ In My Eyes BUCK 0 GLF 0! You'll get 'em Mikey!!!! Worse case scenario-Guns are right around the corner!!!!! T

    3 Bucks

    Kill 'Em GLFy, Kill 'Em!
  22. Yes here! I'm a hunter, fisher, etc etc etc. I just don't like any kind of gun control. Most game birds like this are just taken for the breast meat anyway. If you want some mourning dove meat, go for it. I'm sure not everybody will hunt them but the right is still the right! T "They can take my guns when they pry them out of my cold dead hands" (fill in the author here if known)
  23. Probably why he got hit, couldn't get no traction on the pavement....... hehehehehe, looked like a new ice skater on the blades!!!! T
  24. I don't like seeing this at all, as I'm sure no bowhunter enjoys seeing this! I own 3 stands, a fixed, a climber, and a ladder. I always use the strap. My fixed stand is only about 10-12 ft off the ground, in good cover, with bushiness underneath me, so I have to admit I don't use the strap with this one (the strap is still on the tree, but I don't use it). The climber or the ladder. always! Also, Theres using a safety strap/harness and, Theres using a safety strap/harness correctly! T PS, I can almost see the area where this guy was hunting from my stand!
