  1. Have to try a rigger higher, we were greaser fishing in same area. We didn't see many marks in that area though.
  2. Tried river mud in front of piers outside 20' and nothing; Koho Killer II got one steelie there Sat and so did a few others; worked out between 60-90' mile or two north n south of pier heads. Went 3 for 4; water much cleaner out there and some marks; only one bait pod mark though. Got two lakers on 00 Luhr Jensen "tin can" (all chrome) 6" dodger and fluorescent Or spin n glo bouncing bottom at 62 and 75'; lost small one on same dodger with green spin n glo in 65'. In 85 ft got small coho on dipsey set on 3 153' out on Capt John King salmon slammer Lazer Glo spoon. Of the 9 fish we've gotten this spring 4 have been on that spoon - 3 on rigger, one on dipsey. 0-1s all day and beautiful out there; at noon wind shifted from SE to NW like they predicted. Unfortunately didn't see many nets out; saw one small one caught out by us in 60fow and heard two boats only had one small fish each.
  3. Bob How far out were divers; to hit bottom or 35' to bottom dipsey on 3 100' - 200' out; 1 -3 ratio. I assume std size divers. Doing St Joe Sunday and we've had marks in same area down there the past month 35-60FOW; marks mid way to bottom; bait fish balls in same area. Will cruise shallows south for little while then head out 60'+ for greasers, etc and maybe early king or so. Thanks for report. Capt Dan - Hockey Puck on The Reel Woman
  4. Quick report Trolled south from piers to close to chalets, in n out from 28-8fow n no hits with 4 high lines on boards n two riggers. At 11 or so swiched to lakers/steelie program, riggers with 6" dodgers n orange n green spin n glows, spoons on dipseys, CJ salmon spoon on 1oz weight n 75' copper with spoon. Bounced rigger weights n lures on bottom for a while n SB rigger went off, two blocks north of pier heads, 60fow, 63' on rigger counter. Got 6 # laker on tin can dodger n gr spin n glo. Got laker at 1pm, 1/2 hr to spare to get bk/wh kitte out of the box. Waves 1-3s down to 0-1s when we pulled lines at 130; set lines around 830. Same water temp 43 in lime green water n dirty water south, 46 in river flow mud.. No clean water we could see. 60' on out as far as we could see was lime green water. Nice day on lake. Boat is now stored on trailer at Pier1000 for April n May. "Hockey Puck" ON THE REEL WOMAN Agnello

  7. We should have gone to SH yesterday instead of St Joe. Good job.

  10. Fished mud in pier heads south to just before chalets in 30-17 fow, 3 for 4. one on capt john laser glo salmon spoon out 40' on rigger down 10; one on bl/chrome bl herringbone wiggle wart, dink on firetiger wiggle wart. All caught trolling downhill, south; did have rip on bl WW going north but pulled last hook out. Used big boards not inlines, nice suuny day, Nirth wi d w/1s to start then 1-2s later, air temp 30-38; water in river flow mud 46.5; south 43. DNR has not put other two docks in at BH DNR launch. Just the one that's probably bed in there all winter for steelheaders. Our tax dollars at work; BS. I'll try and call regional office which I believe is in Gobles. All fish came in 20-22 fow just north of big concrete wall and a few blocks north of it. No hits farther north or in mud in frontvof piers. Next trip after Easter week. Right now that Monday looks good. d in front of piers.
  11. Yeah I paid extra to have removable Big Jon dual rod holders and of course my manual riggers come off too. So like pasco I come in pretty stealth after all r stored in the cutty along with the rods n tackle boxes.
  12. I have 1994 21' Grady White Adventure 208 with Cutty and 130HP Honda 4 stroke outboard. Has two built in 115qt coolers so you don't need fish box on board. Even with full crew and gear she'll cruise at 26-30knots. What I love is fishing area in back is like 8' x 8'. These ocean boats eat up the Great Lakes. They aren't cheap; new one runs around $70,000; but you can get used ones from $12-$20K. I bought mine online, had it surveyed and picked it up in Hampton, New Hampshire. Oodle.com has a lot of boats for sale. Good luck.
  13. I agree they are not cleaning goose poop off the docks like they used to; also unless you pay the seasonal fee you can't use the indoor rest rooms early in the morning; there is a code and they only give it to season pass holders. I guess our day use money doesn't qualify us to use indoor rest rooms. Later in the day when someone shows up they are open to all.
  14. Was watching BC (British Columbia) Sports Fishing show on YouTube and on their riggers they were using spoons behind flashers on 7' leader. Different approach. Anyone ever setup that way? They also use mooching creels. Not sure what that buys for them.

  16. I've been watching some episodes of Salmon Showdown and I noticed some of the featured boats use exceptionally long leads from their dipsey to the lure/flasher fly/flasher meet rig. When they try to net a fish they have to hand line in the extra leader length. Does this really help get more hits? Thanks Dan

  20. Been Fishing since I was 5 yrs old; started salmon and walleye fishing since 1971; retired electrical engineer; worked at Commonwealth Associates and Consumers Energy in Jackson, MI. Fish out of St Joe and South Haven and in August go to Manistee. Usully take a few runs to Lac Erie in nroe in May and June also. Own 21' Grady White Adventure w/130HP Honda 4 stoke on it.
  21. I have 4 rods w/copper also; 150' and 300' of 45# and 30#; for my 30# 300' rig I put about 60' of 30# mono in the middle so I use either 150' or 300'; the end leader is of course 30# mono and backing on the reel is 35# Cortland Spectron Black Spot (bk/wh) braided line. The best way to connect braid or mono to copper is to make a small loop at the end and solder it; then you can use any standard knot to connect braid or mono to your copper. Hope this helps.
