  1. There were a few guys fishing in about 70’ and not sure if they were fishing for lakers or what.
There weren’t that many trailers in the parking lot and we were the only ones at the fish cleaning station.

I would set lines in about 60’ straight out from piers and angle out SW and then NW until you find some. When we got our first king in 135’ we stayed in the area until they shut down and then went out deeper.

    Good luck.

  2. 3 for 4; 9:30 In 109fow 8 lb laker on CJKing Ghostbuster spoon on 300copper; 10:30 16 lb king on dipsey on 3 out 160’ on jagger bomb spoon; 10:45 15lb king on rigger slider on RV Moonshine Flounder Pounder with main line down 48’; lost laker on 200 copper.

Went out to 145’ but no hits.

    1-3s; SOG 2.4 -3.2.

  3. Mega Byte: Water wasn’t bad; kind of a light brownish green. Perfect for holding temperature, bait fish and fish. In addition to some schools of kings n lakers we marked some decent bait balls in that 55’ water also. Some boats were fishing farther out at the edge of the cleaner water, but have no idea how they did.

May be out again Sunday and/or next Tuesday or Wednesday in the same area.

  5. Agree. My Offshores have been converted with OR18 releases also.

If somehow you lose a board don’t forget to put your name n phone number on it. Someone might return it.

This summer  a guy called me the next day that he found my Church walleye board in Erie west basin.Told him thanks for the call and to keep the board and lure. He said the fish was still on but lost it at the boat. Maybe should have paid him to ship it to me. Might have had a specially painted expensive Bandit on it.

  6. I see a few people talking about running dipseys on a board. Doesn’t make sense. Like stated above dipseys, especially on 3, get out away from the boat.

Also, not sure you need to spend $50+ for the bigger inline boards. I use standard Offshore boards with up to 300 copper and full core with no problem.

My friend even uses Church walleye boards for up to 300 copper and full core. I was surprised but they track pretty good. He just moves the weights to the back.

    My 2 cents.

  7. 4 for 4, 3 lakers and coho.
Oldest son flew in from Colorado so we could stay at the SoHa lake house.and fish. Blown off yesterday, set lines 9 today, 124-134’ all the hits; 2 lakers on CJ GOC reg size spoon on rigger down 61, coho on rv Moonshine flounder pounder glow spoon on dipsey out 160’, 13lb 13oz laker on 300 copper on green reg Moonshine glow spoon.
Speed 2.5-3.Sog; all hits nw troll.
    Nice lazy 1-3s.

  8. I use standard Off Shore boards but change the release to an R18 and I use a snap swivel in the. back release. I pull full core and 300’  copper w/ no problems.

My friend uses Church Walleye boards and I was surprised that they work so well for full core and 300’ copper. But, he did move the weights all the way back to help them track better.

  9. Yep, Crazy.

I’m a min of 2 hrs to St Joe or SoHa and a little longer to Holland, GH, and Muskegon. And, some mates are 1/2hr from my house.

So even if we leave at 0500 we don’t set lines until 7:30 or 8.

But, in St Joe it didn’t matter; the bait fish weren’t  thick yet, and kings were on the hunt all day.

Monroe Brest Bay Erie walleye Tuesday ( 1 1/2hrs only from Jackson), week in Co to visit oldest son n his family and back to Erie for crew that won a fishing trip on my boat during a charity auction.

Then salmon 1st week in July.

    SoHa? Maybe Holland or

  10. Another skunk.
Fished 65-100’, lost nice laker near the boat.
Marked a lot of lakers in 77’ and some other marks half way up.
    Some decent bait balls also.
Bounched bottom for a long tine with 2 riggers and couldn’t get even a few more lakers to hit.
Think most of the kings didn’t stay long in SoHa.
After a few trips to Erie, next trip will probably be Holland.
    Smooth drags and calm seas!
