  1. im also looking at setting up lines. think im going to mount electric wheels to my radar arch and buy pipe to fit in a rod holder so it can be easily extended or removed. any leads as to pulleys i can use without ruining good pair of downriggers to get them. or does anyone foresee a problem with idea. ive never run em so just speculation here.
  2. thanks called mike he don't have onshore storage so talked to salmon harbor looks like that we'll work. also got number of guy named tom think accurate marine for auto pilot and bottom paint. he says raymarine x5 will be good for my boat about $2500 installed. iv'e heard good and bad about them but he said he put about 4 on last season with no problems. my name is paul spoentgen 715 441 0692. thanks again and ill be in touch

  3. nice looks like a bunch o good eatin there
  4. except i want 1. i bought a arch and will get around to mounting one day. think i,m getting a 18 in garmin hd. question is i have a navigational light sticks higher than the radar will and thinking i want 2 big jon planer reels mounted on the arch also, will these effect the radar or hows that work.
  5. never put one together. how do i know i have right amount of backer on reel, and still have enough room to fit the full core.
  6. i spend a lot of time on lake of the woods (MN side). should be early ice hopefully locks solid this year for good ice. last year 8 in broke up floated north then came back down and froze for ****. first trip is scheduled for 12/22-12/29 but could go early if things work right. iv'e spent the last 6 Christmases up there; i know kinda selfish of me lol
  7. thanks for all the advice. just bought 4 cannaon mag10 stx so no need to fix and no more crankin. now i have 4 big jon manuals 4 sale to are one handed 2 are clutches with star knob. by the way 1 needs a drag washer lol
  8. Wanting to set up some tekota reels with 250 yds of 30# mono and full 10 color 27#. Question is will it all fit on a 700 or 800?
  9. i fished algoma twice n kewaunee twice numbers also low but nice sized fish. also check numbers on kd tournament it will give you the answer, lots more bigger fish. i think 32 lb won it
  10. good info thanks. bet that transducer aint workin so good lol
  11. nothing beats a big king on a rigger. im in process of rigging my boat and am going with 4 with room in middle 4 a 5th. guys on lake of the woods are running 6 on there 27 ft sportcrafts but there tickin bottom on all of them ( shad raps) so not such a mess.
  12. i also have 24 ft fiberglass just bought and it has anti foul paint on it, stuff is smearing up onto the gel coat ( real pain ). so ive been investigating solutions as well. i think i would like to take it off and go back to a gel coat as i dont plan on keeping it in the water for more than couple days at a time but from what ive been told sand blasting blah blah blah real spendy. so redoing the anti foul means sanding and re painting. then your suppose to do it every year. i really dont want to have to deal with that every year so i too would be interested in some more knowledgeable thoghts
  13. have a one handed crank big jon. goes down fine but when i crank up it gets to tight to turn, more i crank tighter it gets. was able to manually turn spool with my hand to get the ball up. anyone know what parts i might need to fix and how hard they are to install?
  14. its a mercruiser assuming original(1975) says mercruiser888
  15. just tore boat apart so can finally see, unfortunately no power assist straight cable to linkage no power steering. what is the ev-200 linear by ray marine says its for sailboats up to 24000 lbs with mechanical steering but will it work on my regal? list price is $3300
  16. 1975 24 ft regal boat. i know little about boats. want auto pilot but the more i look n talk to people the more confused i get. any help will be appreciated. what are my option n what is the cost (ball park).
  17. a slow day on the boat is still better than a day at work. time to start gearing up for winter walleye on lake of the woods, hopefully thats better this year as that was slower than usual last year too.
  18. want 2 set up some leadcore rods tekota reels. what size reel 600, 700, or 800?im assuming i should put on 100 yards of leadcore? what lb test n what kind? any1 know anything about suffix 832?, seems 2 get good reviews. how much backer and what kind should i use. thanx
  19. boat has a straight 6.5 ft board that fits into clamps on end so cuts length to 6 ft, 2 short has 4 downriggers which is what i want but middle to want 2 tangle. what im thinking is getting the board out 2 edges (7.5 ft} then coming back edges 4 ft both sides. ill either have to remove rail on back or come up 8 inches 2 do it. questions do i remove rail or raise board. whats the best material to use (cedar, oak, green treated, aluminum)wood seems cheapest and i think will look good but whats best way to join corners(i keep thinking of all the pressure on them. also pedestals, thinking 3 on back and 1 per side, thinking 4x4 block of wood with several coats of poly (bad idea or will it be o.k.) any thoughts will be appreciated p.s. for those who steer me towards aluminum whats ball park cost. thanks in advance
  20. yeah tune up probably help all looks good but last owner said its been couple years. i have a plate on the motor and speed was not an issue could drop as low as 1.5 but like 2 stay at 2.2 which was pretty easy to maintain. boat control was good to, 4 footers like nothin. tryin to figure out how to put a picture of it with my profile but not so smart i guess, if any1 can help. thanks 4 input
  21. not sure exactly how much gas i used in the boat i just bought (1975 24 ft regal with a 302) but lots. so im thinking a kicker is the way to go. questions are why everyone seems to go with a 9.9? also i will be putting auto pilot on eventually what will this do to my options or functionality good, bad, or indifferent?
  22. trying 2 find some of the specs for it like how big the gas tank is, what the total weight of the boat is, etc. it has the manual with some specs but nothing in there of interest to me. i live five hours from lake michigan and getting late in year so dont want to have to fill n run out of gas to figure it out. can tell u i did just go and i topped it off with 50 gallons fished 2 days now gas gauge says 1/8 of a tank but we all no that means nothing.
