Ok Members,
Lets see this year who gets the biggest turkey in 2006. What you have to do is take a picture of you and your turkey, weigh it, and measure the spurs and the beard. When turkey hunting is all over we will take a poll and let every member take a vote on the best turkey picture and biggest bird. Lets see who gets the bragging right to be the #1 turkey hunter in 2006.
Yes GLF you can count your back yard birdie.
ANYTHING GO's
Good luck to everyone this year,

Fishing league members,
I forgot to put on the thread of the sign up thread forum that the prizes down below go to the points champ at the end of the year just like last years fishing league.
A 1st place plaque of the State of Michigan from me.
Also two okuma rods reel combo's from the Fish Dog Co.
Also two $25.00 Fish Dog Co. gift certificates from the Great Lakes Fisherman web site.
Thanks GLF for finding my mistake,

Just thought I would let everyone know that you do have to have a permit to run fishing tournaments at any DNR boat launch. I have been doing alot of research on how to get permits and the rules. Not all the rules are the same at each DNR boat launch so you have to make sure you make a call to your DNR division or the State Park. These rule and regulations are for Muskegon (Snug Harbor) and Holland (Port Sheldon). I had to make a call to each of the State Parks so they could send me the rules and the form to get my permits.
Any questions give me a PM,
Caznik

Hello GLF members,
I have a 14' fishing boat that I like to fish in the rivers and on inland lakes. Well the past 5 times that I had been fishing in my small boat there has been alot of water run in my boat latley. So Saturday I thought I try and find where that water leak is at. Well I found it and it is a nasty crack that is about 3" long and is in the front of my boat. What is the best stuff to try and fix this leak. I been thinking about trying JB weld or some kind of gas tank leak stuff. Can someone help me out here, I like to get this leak fixed and not buy another small boat.
Thank you,
Rich

Fishing Times: 7:00am-12:00pm
River Conditions: Water level was perfect and not muddy.
Fish: 1 Sucker
Lures: Small Gold and Red lip hot n tot.
Well took another trip down to the Kalamozoo river to try and get some more steelheads. We started this time from the bridge and started the long troll to the dam. Well looks like we didn't get any hits or anything to do with a steelhead this morning. My buddy from work took a nice 4lb. sucker with his hot n tot and that was all we had. Looks like it maybe the last trip over there for this spring. The weather looks like it is going to start to get warmer by next weekend and Im thinking about trying and get some bluegills or crappies at my dads lake. Hope you all had a chance to get out and enjoy this nice weather this weekend.

You guys like to see what is in my back yard every morning and evening everyday. I have 40 turkey's come in every morning and wake me up on the weekends because they gobble so loud next to my bedroom. I also have 2 bearded hend that come in my yard every year. Well here they are.
There are 6 big toms with the rest all hens that will show up everyday.

You guys forgot one big thing when you back your boat down to the ramps. Turn off your headlights so other fishermen can see when they back there boats down. I allways turn my headlights off and leave my running lights on. Man you just cannot see nothing when trying to back your boat down when another truck has there headlights on.

Fishing Times: 6:00am-12:00pm
River Conditions: Water level was perfect and not muddy.
Fish: 2 Walleyes and 3 Suckers
Lures: Small Gold and Red lip hot n tot, Chrome hotn tot and a Yellow hot n tot.
Took another trip to the river this morning and not much happened with the steelheads. I went fishing with Sarah C and Benny this morning. We started at the bridge again and went down stream a long ways. Sarah C caught 2 nice suckers with a chrome hot n tot. Benny caught 2 nice walleyes and one walleye was 8lbs. I didn't do so good this moring, I happen to catch a nice sucker also with my yellow hot n tot. I don't know what the deal is with the steelheads, they just was not hitting this morning. Looks like I will be going to St Joe tomarrow morning and fish for some coho's or browns.
Benny's 8 Lb. Walleye
Good luck fishing,
Caznik
We did throw all the fish back in the river.

We are digging into this post further. I have been in contact with a member of the Coast Guard. I found out where this information came from. This information came from an archive and is not current.
Mike,
It has been me that has been checking on this info about the light houses and the fog horns with the coast gaurd. I been talking with the coast guard to be a member on the web site to give us some help on some of these ?'s on some of these threads on here and looks like there is a member of the coast gaurd that did sign up as a member here.(mainly this one) I think that will help us out on some ?'s on the great lakes. Well I just got an email from the coast guard and this is what they had told me.
Thank you for contacting the Coast Guard Navigation Center. We sent your inquiry to the Ninth District Aids to Navigation Office and this is the reply we received:
"We have proposed to shut off a couple of lights, which are open for public comment at this time. The only lighthouse that has been turned off recently is Sturgeon Point Light. Most of our proposals however, are to reduce the visual range of the light to make better use of modern technologies.
For the fog signals, we have no intent to shut off any at this time. We are changing many fog horns to a radio remote controlled activation device. This is the same type of receiver used at many small airports to turn on runway lights. The fog horn is turned on by keying the a vhf-fm microphone on a designated frequency 5 times
Well Mike I hope this answer will help everyone out here. If anyone has any ?'s you might want to talk with Great Lake CG he is a member on this web site.
Good fishing this weekend,
Caznik

Well Rich at least you were fishing, beats what I did today. Just curious if ya ever tried it up toward the dam, there are some good spots up and down river of the launch that is is just below the damn.
Steve,
Yes I know there is some really good spots up there by the dam. But so far I have not yet tried to fish up there yet. I will probly start up there next weekend. I bet it was really crowded up there this week. There was 5 boats below the bridge and all covered the hot spots.

Leaks in fishing boats
in Boat Maintenance and Rigging
Posted
Well guys,
Just thought Id let you all know I did get my small boat fixed on good Friday. My father inlaw helped me out and what we used was some aluminum rod. Which we had to use a torch at low temp. and kinda melt it on. Well after doing that we put it in the water and it didn't work. So the my fater inlaw had some epoxy glue and we put a bunch of it on the crack where we put the aliminum rod on it and it is not leaking no more. So im good to go now.
Thanks everyone for helping me out,
Rich
