I don't think I've EVER touched my keel weight adjustment. Mark is right on for what they are for....But I've not noticed a difference in teh way they run with a straight mono and spoon compaired to a full core with a Jplug.

Standard sized Stinger Spoons with White on them. AKA, Ole Blue, Bloody Tampon, and Dirty White Boy. And of course a full array of jointed raps, thundersticks and bomber long A's. Does that narrow it down at all? Also trolling cleo's, Krocadiles, and KO Wobblers is an often overlooked technique. is there anything else?????hmmmmmm...Nope I think that will do it... Well maybe there is more but you would have to go fishing with me to find out. Peace. -Jim

I've had good luck with Lee's and the Berkly ones. Sampo's are a great swivel...However at five dollars a piece I have a hard time thinking they are worth it. But to each their own....The guys that use them swear by them...but i'm a cheapscape.

I use the special mate boxes as well. Although the price seems to have come down dratically from the 50 dollar days. I got one at the Grand Rapids Fishing Show for like 35 bucks. We also use these foam lure pads that we bought at the GR fishing show as well...i don't recall the name on them right off hand though. They are a piece of black foan similar to armaflex with a UV filtering plastic that drapes over the front. I attached the velcro to a couple different spots in hte boat and as we change lures we put them in the pads to dry and what not.. Keeps them off the floor and off the doghouse and off the cooler and out of the way.

Continue to ask your questions Caz. I do not see any harm here. If nobody expressed their opinions about anything then nobody would know nothing. When you ask a question of any type you will get some answers that agree and some answers that disagree. As a general discussion that is what you are looking for. If everybody agreed on everything all the time then what is the sense in asking a question and asking what others think. To me a big money tourney it doesn't matter one way or the other. I'm not confident enough in my abilities and equipment to spend that kind of cake to enter one. As far as the league touneys I say it should be allowed because as was stated prior. We are just getting together and going fishing. I wouldn't even be bummed out if the money went away....That isn't what brings me out to these events. In fact for me sometimes I think the money takes away from the fun a little bit. I don't see asking questions as a bad thing. Even if it is a question about the rules. If there is a rule and somebody asks why. That doesn't mean they are complaining or chastizing the rule. Like Mike said the tournement director has the say...And that is that. But perhaps somebody asks the question and has a good idea or a partial good idea that the tournement director hadn't thought of? Then that is a good thing. Rules are the rules and everybody agrees to them when they pay the money...But if all communications are cut off then you may never improve on things. Keep up the questions Rich, If nothing else it gets people talking and posting.

Really "tight to shore" does mean put a board up on the beach. St joe you can do that. There are a few spots where the lake is still several feet deep right up to the rip rap shoreline. But normally there is a foot or two drop off right on the shore line where brownies will sit in there and trap minnows against the shore ledge.

Those days are a bummer when you know the fish are hitting but you cant get them hooked...but they are fun none the less to break the monotony....Good job fellas....

Caz for as many fish as you don't catch....This doesn't suprise me...I believe this is how you pick your fishing spots...and the days you do well is when you are following me around the lake...

There is a possibility that I could be interested if the boss aproves of such activities. However, the question I have is why is it limited to 3 people? why can't you have four in the boat but only are able to keep the first 9 fish or only keep a 3man dnr ticket and weigh your best 9 fish? Limit it to 9 rods yaddi yaddi yaddi.... Just curious. I now a lot of times for tourneys I like to fish with my wife...and we often try to get another couple to fish with us. Just asking though...if there is good reason for only 3 peeps then so be it... -Jim

Shorten your leader considerably. Say down to like 20 feet. And during sept...try some jplugs.

Thanks Matt, I agree with you on teh dodger thing. The old school tin cans are VERY speed sensitive. But when I say flashers I mean things like the Opti, Spindoctor, Kingfisher, Fishcatcher, Coyote, and yaddi yaddi yaddi... The "rotating flahsers" will tolerate the vast range of speeds. That is what I use with a spoon.

it is pretty much all trial and error. It all depends on how much bend is in the spoon and the weight has something to do with it. However, I can troll my stinger spoons every bit as fast as the dreamweavers. Most of it has to do with the sape and the cup the spoon has in it's curves. Toss it over the side of the boat and see if it spins out or not. Or another tell tail sign is if you have major line twist when you retrieve a spoon from a rigger or a dipsy...although if you have good swivels that won't be a good tell tail.

Do this all the time in the spring and fall Steve. Like you said long line behind the board....or...back fifteen feet or so on the secret bobber technique.

I agree with Steve on this one. The shorter rods are built with running inline planers in mind. The shorter rod gives you MUCH Better control of your board in my opinion...and I'm not 10 feet tall so the shorter rod makes it MUCH easier for me to get the board off the line. But as they say it is all personal preference. The other thing I really like about those lead core rods is they are only like 20 bucks.....

Here is a suprise...I'm sure you all can't believe it...but.....I disagree. I run my spoons just as tight to the flasher as my flies and we have pretty darn good sucess out of it. But what the heck..........hehe...Never tried the little flashers and spoons however.... Wayne I would think that using the old tin lurh jenson dodgers with a spoon might not be as effective as running a spoon behind a more aggressive rotating flasher. Heck a dreamweaver Mag probably weighs more than the tin flasher.... But those rotators will really whip that spoon around. I like using a silver streak mag blueberry muffin behind a green fishcatcher w/ glow crush. With a leader about 18" long. Good Luck my fellow fisherman.... I do have to add this quick note however, to whomever listens to me. Both the fellows that have posted above me are better fisherman than me.

the 16' Lund fishes 2 the best but will comfortably fish 3. The 21' Cruisers will fish four comfortably and will fish five or six if needed...

I'm not telling....It's a secret....If I tell then everybody on the internet might start fishing there....Oh my.....
