All I have left to do is the cap, rotor, plugs, oil change, mount the riggers and load my gear and I'm good for now. I have more work to be done, I'm just running out of time. I only have 10 days before I head out for the first trip this season. I hear they're already whackin the browns in St. Joe.

Been using Free & Easys for two seasons now. Getting them set for SWR and then back to mono can be tricky though.

Foolcore is good till it's time to come in, then it's "Fish On" and pass it to an unsuspecting bystander....

Trilakes Marine (Union) Eagle Lake Marine (Edwardsburg) Hildebrand Marine (Coldwater) all three have done work for me and are good. Really depends on how far you want to go and what you need. For impossible to find parts, opt for the 3rd.

I have the same problem with my anchor light when the bimini is down. Friggin aggrivating I'll tell ya. I really need to develop some time to move it up onto the arch.

Same here. It's been in the shop for the past month (just got it back Fri.) and I need to get crackin on getting all my new goodies installed. I was hoping to have everything done prior to April but it will be a fat chance that will happen.
This years upgrades were:
Buff out & seal the gelcoat
striping & graphics
(Durabak) antiskid for the floor
Humminbird 981C
8 Berts Rod Holders
Speed & Temp
trim tabs
I am planning to add a bimini to the arch and repaint the antifoul but that will likely be done post blast.

Actually the subject on my spending on the boat came up just the other day. My reply was: OK, lets do this, I'll take your Suburban (a 2500 loaded complete with tv,dvd, vhs yadda yadda) and you have my boat. We'll sell them and both of us buy better you a better truck and me a better boat... she got real quiet then.

It appears this will end up an expensive habit. I hope the wife does not mind
Now this is an area that will need both diplomacy and something I call (verbal gymnastics) and to be honest, if your wife minds the expense, and you worry about that, you've already lost some very precious ground.
Just say these three words over and over. She'll never know, she'll never know
Dan: boat name (Zero Balance)

I just bought a Humminbird 981C for both my lil river boat and my 23'r. It has tons of info. and covers a 100' deep x 500' wide path with the side scan feature. Can't wait to get this sucker on the lake this spring.
And yep, the pictures shown on side scan really look as ahown

Lindey makes a nice little foam spool that hold like about 8 or 10 leaders, snells, rigs, or whatever on a spool as Capt. Levi indicates. I found that running the slit all the way around the spool with a utility knife makes these holders ideal for leaders. I rig all my leaders and have a spare spool ready for the horrors of tangle should it happen.

Trailer Check Up!
in Boat Maintenance and Rigging
Posted
Stopped by Dexter Axle in Elkhart last week and picked up 4 new hubs & bearings. Time to redo the hubs & brakes on my trailer. I expect to be heading down to Erie a lot this season. The old hubs were skimpy and two piece that are not made like that any more. That and a brake job should do me good.
