  1. have been interested in trying outriggers for some time.:)

    scott

at that price you cant hardley go wrong. I just couldnt see investing in them, but at this price i would. But i live in muncie indiana and would spend more for gas than on the riggers.lol. But it just aint funny. They just told on the news that gas prices are going back up. Were up to 4.17 per gallon.

  2. I would sell them, and look for a couple manual cranks.

i dont mean any offence, but why would you want to go from electric thats paid for to manual??

last year was my first 2 electric ones. i had just always made do with manual ones. this year i got 2 more electric. there not eatin anything so i would atleast hang on to them for awhile unless i really needed the money. maby just quit useing them for a few trips. and see how things go. this summer they will be nice.

i only get to make about 3 or 4 trips to erie a year. but i,ll be there with riggers on.LOL. i have a 335 mile trip to fish where i want to fish.

i think he just got these winter blues, they,ll pass.

  3. if it wasnt such a long drive i would have bought them. thats a great price for a set of outriggers.

i have a set of 16 ft surf rods that i use for outriggers. they have really served me well. if i only need to put out a couple of long lines, they are alot better than going to all the trouble of putting out my boards. and work just as good. and i use rubber bands for releases. so if i get a small fish on it will stretch the rubber band and i can see something is on. good luck and good fishing.

  4. I can't belive nobody mentioned SLIDE DIVERS. U can run whatever length lead u want!

i use the lite bite slide divers, and absolutly love the lite bite feature. i fish lake erie for walleye, and the small fish can be a nightmare at times. but the lite bites will trip on most of these small fish. but i still wouldnt want to give up my riggers. and if i still fished salmon i would prefer the riggers to divers. just my preference

  5. i have 2 almost new, used for 2 weeks last summer

big jon sportsman electric riggers 2 ft booms with 2 new auto stops still needs to be installed. 2 8 lb balls or 2 10 lb pancake weights all for 475.00 shipped. the pancake weights the coating came loose on one of the fins. i repaired with hot glue

i can do 425.00 without the weights. and as soon as i get the other rod holder that i ordered, they will come with the clamp on rod holder.

  6. Thanks for the input guys it was a disapointing year last year so we'll see what this summer brings. I regularly run my diggers at various depths up to 100' but have never caught a fish in the straits over 70' down not sure why.

    hey

atleast you will have access to some good information on here. most are just waiting to tell us new guys where to go.LOL. good info with your divers and riggers should really help your catch. i,ve been on this forum(my first) for 2 or 3 weeks and i feel like they,ve already helped me alot.

glad your here, well try to help this be a much better season. and these guys really will share there knowledge.

never heard of it. but the best of luck on the whole thing. my wife was having all those problems. she got to where she got sick every time she ate anything fried. and her pain was almost unbearable for me, it was braking my heart. they did the gall bladder thing and she had stones down in the ductwork going into her liver. she really had a rough time of it. but our prawers got us through. and a good doctor.

  8. hey scott

i,ve only been here a couple of weeks. these guys are great. they even let me run my mouth alittle and dont seem to get to p#ss#d at me.

you should like it here. i,d never even thought about a forum. was just looking around online for some info on the chamberlain downrigger release. these guys really gave me some great info. i think they,re going to be great. but then i,ve always liked trying new stuff if i could swing the money. i just started back fishing the big water again in 09. went on vacation with my oldest son. at that time we used dipsy,s but i had heard about the walkers and they sounded better so we gave them a try. i did like them better and no rings. then last year heard about the lite bite slide diver. with all the small fish in erie i decided to give them a try. the trigger on the lite bites are awesome. they were tripping on white perch last summer. got me some new metallic colors this year. if you want to check them out. downriggerrelease.com the other is slidedivers.com. oh yea i like using the slide diver just like a standard diver. i just like being able to use the trigger.

the best of luck, and dont be afraid to ask questions, or put your 2 pennies worth in. im loving being here. i,ll be 60 next thurs and this is my first forum. if you ever get up to geneva oh in july and aug. give last chance a yell on #68

  9. if i was just looking for one for standby power on my house i would check out onan on ebay. they have just about anything you want. just be sure to check it out good first thing. ebay stands behind what you get on there now. if its not what they say it is, they will force them to give you a refund or they will give your money back. i have a 7000 in my rv and they make a great standby for your house. i dont know if it would run everything in your house at the same time tho. but they have bigger ones on ebay. some of the ones they have on there are already set up as stand by for your home. i know the ones they put in rv,s are good. they set for months at a time and start right up. last year i bought a 6500 for my old rv for 650.00 and it was and still is a great generator. i sold the rv to some friends in tenn last fall. they went to bristal to a nascar race. it started right up and ran all weekend. it dont hurt to atleast look at what they have.

  10. If i were you i would take it to tuna, the go threw every little thing so your not gonna pay for it in the long run. i know of alot of charters that take all there reels over to him to go threw every winter. I would also think about a 450 or 400. The fish are getting deep and the two set ups work great for deep fishing

i assume your talking about tuna,s reel troubles. i started sending all my stuff to him last year. i was having trouble with my diawa sealine sg17lca and accudepth adp17lc reels. i was using braid and didnt use any mono backing because the reels are small to start with. but that was my problem, the braid was slipping on the spools. so he just put pins in my arbors. problem fixed. so i just started sending him any problem reel. couldnt be happier. i even had this great big penn for saltwater. it had been tore up for a long time. he fixed it right up. and i couldnt believe how reasonable his prices are. i live in muncie indiana and have to ship to him. and with his prices i still come out ahead. i would highly reccomend him to everyone. you guys and gals all have a great season

  12. Ok, I Yell, Jump and knock people out of the way. But I'll raise the antie...

I have yelled fish-on at the boat beside us.. We were in the troling line out in front of the Michigan City breakwater, and a boat coming back up the other side had a rod bump bump bumping, and nobody was paying attention we saw it and started yelling and pointing at their rod.. I think they lost the fish:lol::no:

we did the same thing happen to us one time. we were at south haven just movin down the lake and at that time we were just using riggers so we were pretty close. and i look over and see this rod going nuts. i start yelling fish on just as loud as i could yell. all the guys on my boat was going nuts. the guys on the other boat was looking at us. i started yelling you,ve got a fish on, it was really funny when they all figured out they had the fish and somebody got the rod. and they were even nice enough to put out a call on the radio and thanked us.LOL. and they did get the fish. that all happened about 25 yrs ago. and the little kid in me still comes out when that rod goes off. i still love it. FISH ON FISH ON!!! i,ll quit fishin when i dont feel that child in me anymore.

its only a 40 ld thrust on the trolling motor

  15. if it is the right antenna, do what everybody elce said, check the conector and make sure the shielding isnt touching. its possable that you just got a bad antenna. if your having the same problem on 2 radio,s and the connector is on right it could be a bad antenna. a few years back we broke a belt. i hadnt started carring a spare at that time. so we had to call for help. i had a new antenna and we were picking up people on our radio. but when we could not get out. thank god the coast guard could pick up our mayday. but they were the only one that could hear us. so they got a good person to come pull us in. we did get an offer from a towing service from cleaveland that said they would come for 175.00 an hour and it would take atleast 4 hours. we were about 10 miles out of geneva. but it turned out i had just got a bad antenna. I NOW HAVE BOAT US TOWING SERVICE. ONLY 34.00 PER YEAR. i think thats a good investment. good luck and keep us posted.
