  1. I have purchased the navionics app for ipad and do like it. It will run on iphone as well. I downloaded the whole great lakes area. Navionic has included more info than the noaa charts and its $49 for the app. I do have Navionics chip as well in my hds-7 which is still my primary. the ipad gives a nice clear detailed view when trolling contours. Not great in the sun but I definately recommend it if you can apare $49 and already have an ipad.

  2. I used to run 3 across the back when I had an i/o but now with an outboard It not worth the trouble like others have said. I have so many other options to get rods out between dipsy's and inline planers and planer boards. If I really need more riggers I could put 2 on the side along with the 2 I now have on the back corners.

  3. Don, I run the Amish bags on my Slickcraft, got them from Aaron at Lakeshore. Any pictures of your boat, coming from a Slickcraft owner;)

I had a slickcraft. It was a great boat. I got rid of it as it had an OMC outdrive. The straight 6 165hp was a great motor as well in that boat.

  4. Elastic bands are horrible enemies of the bildge pump as well but at least you can likely take the pump apart on the water to fix the situation at least we did once. This was on a friends aluminum boat with leaky rivits in late November walleye fishing. Hmmm I think I will take my boat next time.

  5. Great story an I do not want to deflate it but you can't judge what a person drives. When I go fishing the brand new 2011 company car sits in the driveway and my wife sporty grand prix GT sits in the driveway and I use the 94 suburban with 300 k on it to pull the boat.

  6. A friend of mine has one. The cuddy is too big and it sits high and light on the front. On windy days trolling its like a sail and hard to keep straight in a cross wind. It has treated him well and we have fished many hours in it but I just bought a Trophy Walk around and just love it. I have lots of power ofn the trophy with a 175 merc but do agree that a lot of Bayliners are under powered. i had a day cruiser with a V8 before the trophy. His Sunbridge has the v6 4.3 liter but with 3 or 4 guys fishing someone has to go to the front of the cuddy to get it on plane.

  7. The thing that really gets to me about these new hybrids is the price. Not only is the car expensive to begin with, but you will have to buy a very expensive new battery for it every few years.

If Obama gets his way all cars will cost this much in the near future. All in the name of climate change and saving our environment.

Agreed and the average person does not drive enough miles to justify the cost. If you do the math you are better off paying ofr a little extra gas.

  8. I am using ultra lites as well for perch drop shot rigs. I use mono and have not tried braid but it sounds good. I have been using some of these rods for years and I would not worry about the weight. I use rods that I like for feel and tip and don't worry about the rest.

  9. I had that with my boat and feared the worst that it was hydro locked or seized. It was the starter. The little pinion gear got stuck out and jammed in the flywheel. Of course the motor would not turn and the starter just clicked.

I pulled the starter and I could now turn the crankshaft with a johnson bar and socket. Got the starter rebuilt and all is well. No real damage to the flywheel. the pinion gear was shattered and had to make sure I found all the pieces.

  10. Don't sell the riggers. Riggers, divers and planners all have thier place. I would cut out everything else before I would sell any salmon stuff, even stop drinking BEER!

    Agreed.

Yes you can fish a 6 rod spread without them but you already have them. Getting rid of them won't help the spending to income ratio so ??

  11. Just spent 3 days on the water there in the BWA Salmon Derby with little to show for it. Water temps are still down this year. It depends what you are looking for and the time of year. 2 days ago we got a lot of COHO as we found warm water off stoney point. Went back yesterday nothing and water temp back down with wind and weather. If we can get some warm weather things may heat up in a little deeper water. A good spot will be betwwen the cans (coast guard bouys) off Kettle point 50 to 80 FOW for Kings and bows. Run along the beaches in 20 FOW will usually produce some Coho and small pinks.

  12. I run mine off the mid ship cleats with the dump line off the back cleats. They do not and I am told should not be able to go under the boat. they run close to the boat and I have no problem neeting. Now i have high side on my boat. A more shollow boat may have more problem. But I can pull the dump line and have the bag in the boat in seconds if need be.
