Mike i think someone else posted this also, But there was a bad batch of the 19 strand and it was having fraying issue's.
go back to where you got it they should replace it.? i have had the same problem with only one rod so i beleive that i got one bad and one good. but fish-on in spring lake is gooing to replace it for free. Also they set-up my rods Dave and they used just the wire straight to the reel and put 1000 ft on each, which is good because the one rod i have had to cut and redo several times down to about 700ft now on the one rod..Mine did not fray out of the blue. It came accross one of my 7 strand wire rods and frayed where the two of them met. The 7 strand wires are bigger than the 19 strand wires, and it will always win if they contact each other.

My son Wyatt caught the very first fish ever caught on the GLF.
It was a 23" lake trout, that we released. -
Go to Walmart and get a bottle of hull cleaner(I think its made by Sea Brite) in the marine section.
Soak a sponge with it, and wipe it on. In less than a minute it will be gone.
Make sure you wear gloves when you are applying it, and wash it off after you are finished.I use to have a white bass boat and had to use this all the time on it.

Nice job Richard! You write GREAT reports!

I run the drags just loose enough both on the wire lines and my planer boards so that when a fish hits, it will pull line and I can hear the clicker start to squeal, then I palm the reel to set the hook then adjust the drag to a setting that is appropriate to the fish.
Is this when you are breaking off?
You should not have to set the hook. The force of the dipsey going off should be enough to drive the hook home.

I have the Lake Master navigation chip in my Lowrance LCX-111C. I looked at Lake Ontario on it one day, and it showed good detail. I am not sure about the Candian waters though. I was going to check it for you this weekend, and because of the bad weather, it completely slipped my mind.

Its time to kill off everything in the river. Protect our Great Lakes!

FISH ON!!!....FISH ON!!!
I have this on a CD on the boat.

Nice job Ryan!

No problem Mike I can second guess myself now as to if I made the right boat choice but at the moment all I could think was that has to be a huge fish to rip line like it was.
At the time, it was a 53lb'er!

I have boated 132 fish so far this year. I had one lake trout with a scar, and did not see any sea lamprey on any of the fish! Cudo's to the DNR for keeping them under control!

Fished last night with 1 MAINIAC aboard the GLF. We ended up 3 for 5. One 16.5lb king and two lakers we threw back. Since I cancelled the Great Lakes Fishermans Challenge yesterday, I decided to put the new spoons to use. My son Wyatt caught the very first fish ever caught on the GLF spoon! It was a 23" laker that we released.
Right at dark things got exciting. What a mess. Unfortunately there was only 2 adults in the boat. We pulled lines after we got the big king in and headed in.
This king came on a Stinger NITRO Natural Born Killer.

OK.....Since the Great Lakes Fisherman's Challenge is cancelled, I will fill in the blanks to my report.
Thursday we fished in front of Duck Lake. All of the fish came from 120-150FOW.
Full cores with 4oz Dive Bombs took 2 fish.
Riggers set at 87 went 3 times.
Rigger set at 110 went once.
Wire diver on 1 with a mag ring set at 250' went twice.
wire diver on 1 with a mag ring, set at 200' went once.
Some how, I managed to miss the nets. I shut down in the dark between 2 sets of nets. I had "heard" they were further South. We went on a West troll and hooked up with a couple of fish. Then we turned South and hooked up with a few more. Turned the boat to the inside to head North and ALMOST put it in a net. We went around this net and continued North, where we found another net.
The fish gods were looking out for me this day.

WTG Andy. Thanks for the Report.
We went out Friday 8/7 and went 5 for 7. we bent a hook on a flasher fly which caused two misses until I noticed the hook was bent. our best depth was in 108 fow north of South Haven.
Nice job Greg!
