  1. Jason did you get that kicker installed? Any pics? I am still deciding what I want to do.
  2. Don`t want to hijack the thread but what would be the preferred backer for copper rigs mono or braid??
  3. Planning a last minute trip before the kids go back to school. Never fished Burt or Mullet lakes but have heard some reports of good walleye action. Any recommendations would be helpful, trying to rent a cottage last week of August and can`t decide what lake?????
  4. Just wondering if anyone has a 22' Islander I/O that could give me any suggestions for installing a kicker motor. Mine is a 1995 221V and have been thinking about it for awhile but would like to see one rigged and get a idea of the pros and cons, kicker size, mounting plate options etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
  5. An accurate reading is very important when running cranks if you are depending on the charts to know your running depths. I saw a video by Lance Valentine I think on youtube that explains the process he uses to calibrate his line counters. The key is if you are running multiple rods you would want them to all be the same since if you start picking up fish on one setup you would be sure the others would duplicate the same depth. Just my 2 pennies worth.
  6. The spot we ended up in was due West of Thomas Marina along the edge of Callahan reef. The big pack of boat was on the inside of us , we only had a couple boats right by us. You must have been a few miles north of us yet. It sure was a great weekend and some nice fish to boot.
  7. Launched out of Qsee Saturday afternoon about 1pm and ran out to the pack of boats. Picked up 2 legal fish and lots of cats, decided to make a move and ran a couple miles north to 13-14 fow, only 2 other boats around. Sat down on a nice bunch of fish and got our limit in about and 1-1/2 hours with fish 18"- 24". Sunday morning same program set up in same spot, lots of boats to the east of us. Got our limit in about 2 hours with fish 16"-20". All fish caught on meat, 1oz inlines 20' back from boards. Pink/white and Purple/white blades worked, hottest blade was pink panties. Thanks again for all the help, we had a great weekend.
  8. Looks like Quiniccasee it is, Thanks for the info. Hope for a decent weekend and some fish. Thanks again for all the info, I will post a report when we get back.
  9. Thanks for all the great reports and info. My wife and I will be coming over this weekend and never fished the east side before so was wondering what launch is recommended, Thomas- Sunset Bay - other ??? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks
  10. We set lines right out of the channel about 8:30 and trolled north. First fish came right away on a Brads thin fish- red w/black. We trolled north about 3/4 mile in the muddy water and turned south and started making loops in 15'-25' of water. We caught most of our fish in that area but it was slow picking. We were 3 short of our 3 man limit and the fish seemed to shut off in the muddy water so we ran down to the A frames and finished up. Ended 15 for 21 all coho on Brad Thin Fish red/black and gold/red 50 to 75 back and a couple on red z flasher and mirage coho fly off the rigger, speed was 3- 3.3. Great day to be out fishing with good friends.
  11. Thanks for the heads up on the shallow water Mark. Hope to see ya out there, good luck.
  12. Well Kevin now you did it, I`ll have to fish SJ Thursday and SH Saturday! My wifes really gonna be pissed, damn the luck.
  13. Thought I better check, is the best place to launch for SJ the city launch on Marina Island ( south east side past waste treatment plant)? It`s the only launch that comes up when I google search.
  14. Thanks Mark we`ll keep a look out for ya and if we happen to trip over them and snag a few we`ll let ya know......
  15. Thanks for the input guys, sounds like SJ is the place to go. I`ll be in a 22' Islander called " Nomad". Hope to see ya out there and good luck!
  16. Wondering where to go Thursday- first trip out this year. With all the good reports I can`t decide. Coming from Grand Haven so SH is closer but really doesn`t matter. Have never fished either SH or SJ before, any recommendations?? Any input is appreciated. Thanks
  17. Got on the water Saturday around 2PM and set up in 17 FOW straight out of LBM. First fish came before I had 3 poles out, and it was fairly steady from then on. We stayed in that 17 - 19 FOW NW of the dumping grounds. We ran Thunderstick JR`s and #10 Deep HJ`s and all caught fish. Best color was clown at 50' back 1.5 - 1.9 on the GPS. Had a real nice 2 man limit by 5PM, missed 2 fish and had no trash or throwbacks. Why we decided to fish Sunday, I don`t know why. Got out just after light and it was rolling big. We headed for our waypoints and set up same game plan. Ended up going 7 for 9 by 11am and decided we had enough, man was it brutal out there. All in all great fishing and sure glad to see the fish are back. Where ever they have been it looks like they ate good cause man they all got big bellies.
  18. Good point on the inlines Tony. I just picked up a couple of the tadpoles and think they will work great for spoons. Thanks again for the info.
  19. Great job Tony! Sounds like you had alot of action. I haven`t run spoons much for walleye but wonder why you would use dipseys over in-lines? I bought alot of walleye spoons this winter and can`t wait to give them a try. Any advice is appreciated.
  20. My son and I made it over saturday and sunday, what a great weekend. Saturday we fished just south of the blach hole, meat 25-30 back on 1oz bb. Got our fish by 2 pm with a few throwbacks. Hot color was Barbie, pink panties and cedar point. Sunday we were just west of the main pack of boats north of the plug. We ran all meat, some on 2oz bb 45 - 50 back and 1 oz 25 - 30 back same blades as saturday. All caught fish, we got our limit by 11 am with quite a few throwbacks. I use my depth raider for speed and usually try to stay .8 - 1.0 on the raider which depending and currents is around 1.3 - 1.5 on my GPS.
  21. How have the bugs been the last couple days? Coming over for the weekend, wondering what to bring - repellant or dynamite!
  22. Sounds like a great day for sure. I am new to this site although I have fished the bay the last couple years. Alot of great information passed here by a good bunch of guys. We are coming over this weekend ( 2nd trip this year ) and hope to do better than the last. We were there the weekend of the tournament out of Linwood, we caught a few but it was very slow. Sounds like the water temp is really coming up fast. Any advice for this weekend would be appreciated. My son and I will be coming over from Grand Haven, sounds like it`s gonna be a nice weekend.
