  1. out for the evening troll , out to 150ft . lots of fish show on the graph and I can't get my baits down that far, 120-130 ft. Did manage to pick up one really nice Steelhead about 12lbs.

140 to 150 showed fish but only one taker, Talked to some of the guys at the cleaning shack and it seems the fish were in 85ft of water, o well maybe tomorrow, as long as the weather holds.

  2. Started the day a little later then I would have liked but it turned out great anyway. My brother had to cancel and I took out my son instead, started just north of the main gap in 34 ft of water trolled just out side of the breakwall .had 2 hits on the riggers running spoons and 2 more on the flasher flies on the dipseys. 0 for 4 at this point, getting kind of POed that they were not getting hooked up well. made a couple more passes and nothing so headed east out to 120ft of water.Set riggers at 50ft and put one stacker on . Setup dipseys at 60 LOC .first one came on dipsey spindoctor and green and gold fly. My son Nick missed his, too much slack in the line, he's new at this too. Next 1 came on rigger at 50ft down 40 back. Son had to get to work so pulled out and pick up My wife . went out and trolled same area , one drive by , and my first steelhead, Good job on the net Janice.

Back from the trips Shes eating Coho , Feels great to see someone really appreciate your efforts. I even tried the coho and not fishy one bit.

  3. There is nothing wrong with the browns , just getting itchey to get some salmon. Janice My wife really likes salmon and I have heard that the coho are the best as far as being mild tasting. As far as the browns go we smoke them as I was told they don't taste very good.

One of my last browns put up a real good fight and that was alot of fun. Didn't even have time to get the rod in the holder or on the rigger, it was the last pole I was setting , and hit with a great thump. I have always heard that if you find the bait you will find fish. If the bait is still there I will give it a shot . And if its calm enough I plain on running out to depper water also. I have only caught Browns on my riggers and dipseys so far and would like salmon . I fished the gaps late last summer jigging ,this is what turned me on to fishing on the big pond. There is nothing like having a 18lb King on light tackle. This year New boat ,down riggers and dipsey rods its all new to me but lots of fun. And sharing what I 'm learning with my family,so they can enjoy it two.

  4. Ok I need a little advice on where to fish. Last time we were out we marked an unbeleivable amount of bait just inside the breakwall, 1/4 to a 1/2 mile long in the lower 15 feet and 50 to 100 ft wide. So here is the question if the bait is still there do I troll the edges of the bait or should I run out to deep water and troll there. I am lookng for Coho and Kings , a little tired of the browns now.Its a little strange to pick up bait on the trolling rods .The water around the break wall is about 30 to 35 feet deep. When we were out last sunday we didn't mark anything out to 60ft of water. It got a little rough so we went inside the break wall pick up two fish in 5 minutes then found the bait. Both were Browns. This is my first year out on the big pond trolling , so any good advise is well taken.

  5. My son and I were out today looking for some Coho but couldn't find them.Came back in the south gap setting the last pole ,I didn't even get a chance to put it in the rod holder, or hook it up on the down rigger,(so its still up top) This brown just nails it . Started taking lots of line because the drag was loose like I said didn't even get to put it in the rod holder. Very nice brown about 10LBS .Get it netted and in the live well and the other pole goes off.Now I'm thinking to myself this is going to be great, Ha the only two fish all day just minutes apart.

I now know why , there was so much bait in the water , the lower 15feet was nothing but bait (32 feet deep) for a 1/4 mile. As we are moving I said to my son that pole just isn't acting right. I pulled it up and the spoon had hooked (snagged) an Alewife. Most of the time we were out after we crossed through the south gap I thought there was something wrong with my locater . I guess it wasn't wrong after all. Now if someone would show the coho where they are I could have a little fun with the coho.

  6. My wife and I were out this morning little choppy on the big pond so we trolled the harbor and the browns are still here, went 2 for 3 riggers at 18ft 70ft back ,dipseys running flasher flies 15-20 ft down. Wife lost the first one , came unglued up top 20 from the boat,on dipsey, next one came on the rigger nice brown 12lbs. Last one came on dipsey smaller one fought harder than the big brown, 5lbs.

Four other boats out pulling planer boards, didn't see any action from them . Nice morning to be out, wifes first trip this year, still waiting on the coho to come in. Shouldn't be long ,heard they were as far north as Kenosha.
