  1. A co-workers wife won a boat in a raffle and she has no use for it. I have seen it, it was brand new and never been in the water however it is titled so it for all purposes a brand new/used boat. She has told me that she is asking $8,500, but if I know someone that wants it she would go as low as $7,500. I have no interest in this deal other than helping her get rid of it and helping perhaps one of you get a steal of a deal. I listed it on ebay for her as a classified and here is a link to the boat. If you have interest just give her a call and let her know that Chris told you that she would take $7,500. She paid tax on $12,700 ish for the price of the boat and has a clear title to package. If you can use something like this just give her a call her name is Tressa Moore. She is a very nice person. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1652-SC-DLX-G3-FISHING-BOAT-NEVER-BEEN-IN-THE-WATER_W0QQitemZ270423167716QQcmdZViewItemQQptZFishing_Boats?hash=item3ef67a12e4&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A7%7C39%3A1
  2. Very nice boat by the way! And that is an AWESOME FISH! My question is: I have twin outboards as well, when trolling I am only running one motor. I leave the one that is turned off down and in neutral. Any harm in doing this? I see you are a mechanic, and you leave your off motor in gear. Is that just to slow you down? or is this the a better on the outboard? I can dial my troll control down to 1 mph on one motor if I had to, so speed is not a problem. I am wondering which way is more mechanically sound, or if either way is acceptable. Thanks, Chris
  3. Friday northeast winds 10 to 15 knots becoming east. Waves 1 to 2 feet. Friday night east winds 5 to 10 knots. Waves 1 to 2 feet. Saturday north winds 10 to 15 knots. Waves 1 foot or less. Saturday night northeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Waves 1 foot or less. Sunday east winds 5 to 10 knots. Waves 1 foot or less. Monday east winds 5 to 10 knots. Chance of showers. Waves 1 to 2 feet.
  4. Thanks for all the nice comments! So far so good, knock on wood/"fiberglass". I'll be out Sunday and Monday wife willing, I tried getting out last Sunday It was going to be me and four of my buddies, they all droped like flies when they saw the forcast. It seems this is the most difficult part of fishing so far, everyone "wants" to go until it is time to actually go!
  5. Very nice! I doubt you'll even need rod's... the fish will see that one coming and just give up and jump your cooler.
  6. As far as photos, I walked out of the house w/out my camera. My buddy took some but I don't have them yet. I think I'll just have to go out and catch some more for my next report
  7. Got the lines in the water around 8:15 and fished til noon Went 7-11 6 Kings and one Laker Our best spot was 72 fow, pretty much all our fish came at this depth. 3 on Riggers on the bottom 2 on full core one on 1/2 core and one on a wire dipsey w/ on a blue bubble w/ a blue spin doctor Most fish were caught on any variation of orange spoons. It was a nice morning...
  8. Here you go... REEL CrankKING
  9. On Sunday when I was trolling, I marked a huge school about two miles south of the nuke plant, in 34ft of water. If I would have had some minnows I would have pulled the lines and dropped anchor.
  10. Very cool video, thanks for taking the time to share that.
  11. Great job finding them, I went south and set up about a mile past the nuke plant and never went out fished in 30-60. Had one fish hit hard in about 52 ft of water on a silver w/ green and orange thin fish but spit it back out. It was on a high line on a yellow bird. I would have liked to see one of those lakers. I pulled lines when after the second lightning strike. Zero fish in the boat today.
  12. I went out last Saturday evening got lines in around 6pm and it was pretty slow. I did catch one Lake Trout, put it in the box just to get the "skunk smell" out and promptly sent it back to the lake. I'll see you South Haven guys in the morning...
  13. I'm still working on the right name... It's a 2001 Boston Whaler 280 Conquest Shes equipped w/ Raymarine Electronincs (radar, chart, fishfinder, autopilot) 3-Walker downriggers (one is the Strike Vision) Vector Rod holders 2-225 hp Merc outboards Air/Heat/Generator/Head etc. I just bought her back in March, and it was pretty well ready to go other than the rodholders and tackle.
  14. Thanks for the link! I'm going to see If I can get out..
  15. Last year GM lost 39.1 Billion Dollars, that is a fact! You don't give money to a company that lost 39.1 Billion Dollars. You make them restructure, to survive. Exec's should have had their pays cut many years ago, the UAW workers at least they are the one's that actually build the cars but the Union should have seen this coming and been part of the solution and not part of the problem. When an uneducated, unskilled laborer is making more than what we pay our teachers, Professors, even more than most small business owners.. ie: over $100k / yr. that is a problem. Yet they just kept this business model for years. Why is it that a 1/2 ton extended cab pickup has to sticker for $35,000, it's silly to think about it. Greed! I have felt for the suppliers for many years, from what I have read they have squeezed them, and squeezed them to the point it wasn't profitable. Then when the suppliers couldn't survive, then GM turned where? South of the Border... Someone mentioned Ronald Regan, can you remember before Regan that the Import Auto makers used to actually have to import their cars? When Regan made it unprofitable by taxing these imports coming into the country what happend? They all came here. Honda is in Ohio, Toyota is in Californina, Kentucky, Texas, Mazda, Nissan, they all build they majority of the cars sold in the US, in the US. I agree with GLF (Mike), they should somehow figure out how to get the US automakers back to building cars only in the United States and get rid of this North American loophole. (Canada & Mexico should not count) Take a look at our unemployment figures. Lets get some of these people back to work at least if we are going to take taxpayers money and knowingly allow it to go North or South. I do believe GM intends to shut down the plant in Canada that they were building some of the Silverados/GMC Sierras, however the shutdown had to do w/ lack of demand. I looked at a new Tundra a couple of weeks ago and it had a sticker on the side window that said US Parts Content 90%, point of assembly was in San Antonio. It's hard to tell anymore what exactly is a domestic and what is and import. Just so you know I didn't buy a truck, and I am hoping that GM, Chrysler, and Ford all make it in this economy, but I'm no longer interested in helping in any other way other than buying one of their vehicles if it is the best thing for my wallet and my family. I would like the government to Quit taking my money and giving it away, I have become quite good at spending it myself since I picked up Salmon fishing as a hobby.
  16. I can't seem to find the extended Marine forcast link. I think someone posted it, but if someone could post it again I would appreciate it. I'm picking up the rest of my rod holders in the morning and will be battle ready. I'm hoping it sets down a bit, I'm planning on, (weather permitting), fishing Sunday. I was able to get out last Saturday for a late evening fish but It seems you guys had already caught all the fish that were left in South Haven Saturday. We ended up landing one Greasy Lake Trout which was released. It was nice to get one in the box even if it was just for a few seconds. It's been a long couple of months leading up to actually getting to fish.
  17. Let me/us know how South Haven treated you... I'm going to give it a try on Sunday. I finally got my boat in it's slip in South Haven late Thursday, but haven't been able to get out.
  18. I ended up buying the Vector Super Spread triple and 6 of the rail mount Vectors today from the Fishin Hole in St. Joe. I like the quick disconnect plate that Vector makes for the triple and my wife isn't all that crazy about rod holders. As far as the Fishin Hole, I like the way I was treated and he was very fair w/ me. I'll get back to all of you and let you know how I like them when I finally make my first trip out if all goes as planned sometime next week.
  19. Anyone use Vector? They seem very functional as well, and not as expensive.
  20. I need to buy some rod holders and I don't think I can go wrong with either Bert's or Tarxtech from what I read. Any opinions? Where to shop for the best deal and get them quickly. My plan is to put three on each side of the boat on tracks and three more mounted to both sides of the stainless tubes on my hardtop. Which means I have/need/want to buy 12 of these things. My boat has outboards and I would like to keep the back as open as possible. My two downriggers are on back of the boat on a swivel base that I can either run straight off the back or to the side.
  21. A friend/co-worker of mine that fishes out of South Haven was helping me spend some money the other day @ D&R and he advised, (put two of them in my basket), that they were must haves. I'm hoping to test them out myself.
  22. Good luck from another newbee to this site

  24. First of all welcome aboard Chris! Last year I picked up a sundancer and I like to think of it as "Beer and Salmon slabs" ..........anyways I will be spending most of my time out of South Haven this year and we can link up and help each other out. Just give the 2UNREEL a shout. My fathers boat (Voyageur) has been slipped in Boat Yard Basin since the 80's. Whats your boat name? No offense intended towards the Sundancer... I loved that boat, it was a 98 310. As far as my boats name, I haven't named the boat yet. I never named my last boat, nothing ever seemed right. Maybe after my first trip out there something will come to me ie: Tangled Mess, No Bites, Quiet Drag's, Dry Net, just kidding. Seriously though when I come up w/ the name I'll let you all know. I fished a half a dozen times last year out of South Haven on my buddys boat. "Big Unit", he seems to always catch fish.
