Went out with Rough Diamond and a friend from work and had a ball in port sheldon. We ended up 9 for 10ish (the 11th gave us about 10 clicks on a three color while fighting a double already and we let it go).
Biggest was 12lbs5oz king.
All fish came just north of Holland in between 95-110fow.
Troll direction did not seem to matter as it was flat flat flat, and not much current down low either.
What worked:
Full went 4 times
Magnum Stinger Green Dolphin went 3 times and I can't recall the 4th.
5 color went 3 times
Yellow (not lemon ice) with a ladder back went once and hawg wild once and I can't recall what went again of those two.
3 color went once
same lemon spoon as above
Downrigger went once
Sorry Mike, Moonshine Flounder Pounder just after dark.

Thanks for the trip Mike.
I'm so tired I forgot to give you any $$$.
I'm looking forward to the other tourney dates.

Nice work. Sorry about the lost fish, but at least you got action.

We hit the first one headed south.
North troll was FAST, but it gave me a chance to get out the brand new drift socks. WOW, both bags out slowed me down nearly 1.5 mph. They did a great job. The second laker and the ho were caught on the north troll. Thanks for the hint.

What a nice night on the water. It was flat, at least compared to Saturday morning. We ended up 3 for 3. 2 lakers and one coho.
Probably quit to early (7:15), but it was a school night.
What worked was the following.
south troll seemed to be the right speed with no bags, so we tried that for a a while. Also thought we should go south out of PS. We did find water 50fow 35 down that was about 47 degrees in pockets.
3 color went first with lemon ice.
5 color went next with 42second.
lastly 3 color with either a ludington special or a glo lemon. Either way it was green and yellow.
All fish between 50-60fow when the temp pockets showed up.
Don't have the picture yet. Lakers were 7-8 lbs, coho was a little guy, maybe 3lbs.
Fish totals for 2009:
trips: 2
coho: 2
lakers: 2
kings: 0
browns: 0

Great Job Mike. Makes my one fish out of PS look like a bust. Guess I should have gone south.
-
Nice work. Grand slam that early in the year. I don't see anyone catching up to that.

Caught one ho on the maiden 2009 voyage with my new (last fall) boat all set up. Fished 25-45 fow for the most part. Waves were very close and the 1ft or less that NOAA predicted was more like 2-4.
One lucky ho.
3 color on a board, lemon ice stinger stingray size, 40 fow, south troll about 2.5mph, just north of the port, about 9am.
1 for 1.
At least we got the skunk out of the box.
-
Great work Mike.
You just HAD TO post the pictures of the fillets on the grill.
That lake looks so flat.
Wish I could have gotten my boat ready earlier, but it is coming along nicely.
-
Great work.
MAN, I wish I could have gotten out this weekend.
-
Pulled 4 Ho's and missed a fifth on that lure last weekend in St Joe. You picked the right one. But I would have bought 3 or 4 of I were you.
-
All fish were ho's, I think GLF is posting pics for this one today.
Speed we worked was 2-2.5, but I think most of the fish hit on the slower end.
I also forgot to mention, we were on a south troll, but that was mostly due to the waves.

Went out of St Joe on Scott's boat this morning, starting with lines wet at about 8:30. South troll 15-20fow. Three of us on his boat and fished 8-9 poles most of the day. Only pole that went was 4 for 5. Berkley power pro with a braid backer on a walleye board. Fire tiger thin fin caught all the fish. Fish ranged from 2-4 pounds, so nothing to brag about, but sure was nice to be back out on the water again. Fished from 8:30-1. Caught all the fish before 11 with the one miss coming later. Got the skunk out of the winter box and the first sun burn of the year.
THANKS Scott. Had a great time.

Why in the world would you NOT want pancakes?
Are you sure?????
They are making a GLOW 15lb pancake, plastic coated.
You can get them at Borculo Bait and Tackle in Borculo (between Holland and Grand Haven).

Send the item directly to work. Install on boat. Use the "I told you about that" method that someone suggested. Works for about the first 6 toys, then it starts to be obvious. Probably obvious to the boss before that, but hey what do I know.

If you have not yet purchased here is a location:

I'd also check with Lakeshore in Saugatuck when then open in the spring.
He is very fair.

You will not be disappointed with Okuma Convector 30Ds with anywhere between 600-1000ft of stainless wire. You will also enjoy Blue Diamond Roller rods by Okuma. I made the mistake of getting 10 ft rollers and wish I had stayed shorter so my lead core spread stayed farther away from my dipsey lines. I recommend 8-9ft rods. The Blue Diamonds are what will do it for you, though you could get away with a standard rod with a spinny tip, though if you are starting from scratch, I'd do it right.

For new parts on the boat, I was pretty happy that 1. they had it in stock and 2. it was only about 225 which is not bad for what it gets you.
All in all, I was just happy to get back out on the water on such a beautiful day.

Went out Saturday morning early.
Got lines wet by 5:00am and by 7 we were out to about 120fow. All of a sudden the lights start to go dim. Hmmmmmm. Alternator went bad on us. So, we went back in and by 11 we had a new one on. Well, still a nice day and plenty of fishing still left, so we went back out. We had great temperature at the balls 47-50 degrees 50 down just north of channel. Marked a lot of fish withing 20 feet of the bottom, but could not get anything to hit. We went from 130fow back in to 70fow, back out to 200fow and finally picked up a single Steelhead on 3 color with a Stinger Glo Lemon spoon, which we had left up high just in case a Steelhead wanted to get frisky.
So, at least we did not get skunked. Now that the alternator is kicking out 13.5 (as oppsed to the 11 we were getting in the morning) the boat is running great and I am looking forward to the spring.

Thanks again Mike.
I always have a great time on the GLF.
FYI the guys in PS were out in 130fow for theirs this morning too.
AWW MAN.
I just saw the comment. You dawg.
I was soaking wet and that was my own fault.

Ran up to Grand Haven for a pleasure cruise.
Heard all the reports and couldn't take it anymore so we dropped lines on the way back.
Fished from 3:20-5:00 in 95-120 fow and picked up two nice fish.
The hot chick on the boat reeled them in. Am I lucky or what?
First one came on downrigger 48 down on a mag stinger glo xmas.
11 lb king.
Second fish came on full core. That's right boys, my wife pulled in full core with a 10 lb king. I'm so proud. Lure was a mag stinger Nuclear Waste.
Had to pull lines to get to a mothes day party in Sparta. Guess who brought the food?
