  8. Heading to the show in GR shortly for a day and a half of catching up with fishing friends and trying to sell some Rapture Trolling Flies tonight while trying to sell some raffle tickets for Tight Lines For Troops tomorrow. Should be a lot of fun.
  9. I have use both Moor and Depthraider but not a Fish Hawk. On both of these units we tried to maintain 1.8-2.2 for Kings. This seems to run all baits well including flashers or plugs and spoons. Like noted earlier you have to find your own consistent troll and always believe your downspeed over your graph or GPS.
  10. Thanks for the info Tom. I'll try some of that this morning
  11. Here is one for you guys to try. Fishing was tough Sat evening but 2 of our 7 fish were taken on a 10 color lead with 2 4oz Dive Bombs pulling a spoon. I dsecided to try this as I don't run copper or long cores and the fish have been at least 100 deep. I ran out 3 colors and put one 4 oz on then another 3 colors and another Dive Bomb and then the remaining colors along with some of the backing straight out the back of the boat. I didn't try this until a few hours into the trip so it produced as well as anything and better than most. I am going to run two of them tomrorow night on boards. Suprisingly it didn't pull that hard and I am sure the board will not have any problem pulling it. The spoon was a Glo Green Alewife Stingray. Big white flashers with Hypnotist Flies and green glow plugs also took fish.
  12. Fishing has been steadily picking up with fish coming 70-130 down in 100-180 FOW. We have been fishing straight out or a little north for the most part. Fished south last Saturday and had a terrible day but moved a little north the bext few days and had good catches of nice fish between 13 and 18#. Last night (Thursday) we boated a 50/50 mix of Lakers and Kings and totalled a dozen fish with our best being 120 down on a big white hootch and Hypnotist Fly. Stinger flasher Dirty White Boy with a nuclear waste fly also took fish 75 and 85 down on riggers while a Stingray yellow killer took a fish on 10 colors with a 4 oz dive bomb.
  13. Hi Mike thanks for all of the work. I have been going by the 7 1/2 feet per ounce theory. How much depth per ounce do you feel you are getting attaching the weight farther back?
  14. Just a little more info. The change was not only to improve the original but the original manufacturer was not able to meet demand and was replaced with the manufacturer that makes the Stinger downrigger balls and supply is no longer a problem. If any of you happen to be in Manistee Insta Launch Campground has them even cheaper. On leadcore you want to attach to the middle to maintain the action that lead line gives the lure so keeping half of the line behind the Dive Bomb does not change the up and down actin of the line. These are new enough that any info you have to share on copper, braid, mono etc would ber appreciated as many of us that have ran these a bunch have only used it for leadcore but as stated above it can be used on any line.
  15. Currently there are 3 nets a couple miles south of port. Check out www.fishmanistee.com for the latest locations We try to keep this as up to date as possible. Manistee is at 15.2 North so this will give you an idea of where the nets are. The only ones you really have to worry about are at 13.8, 13.2 and 12.8. The bouys you are seeing in deep water over 300' are chub nets. These nets are only marked with one bouy and as long as you dont' catch the rope which I did last week there is no other hazard to navigation as the nets are on the bottom. The trap nets are not properly marked at this time and we have been trying to get them marked all year. My understanding is that they have had several tickets written but don't seem to care. The most important thing you can do to help this problem long term is to report any problem with a net to the RAP hotline at 800-292-7800. This is where they want phone calls to go and when you call a record is made of the incident. Try to get the GPS coordinates of the problem area. If you want to know anything about nets PM me and I will be happy to answer it.
  16. I usually run 18-24 but yes it is the same as other flashers
  17. Everything is pretty new but the NBK has been really good so far. I have tried the Blue Killer and the Dirty Diaper without any success yet but haven't fished much yet. I run the Rapture Hypnotist behind the NBK and it has worked off the center rigger as well as the deep Slide Divers. I usually run between 1.8 and 2.2 on my Moor for speed and I run them along with spoons all of the time.
  18. Typically you will run the Dive Bomb half way between the rod and the bait. When I run 10 colors I let out 5 and then attach. Running straight mono you may have to experiment but if you let out at least 100 feet and attach it half way you should get some significant depth. I have been running them on both leadcore and mono from in line and big boards. Be careful about running different sizes or lengths on the same side of the boat. Heavier Dive Bombs should be the line closest to the boat at all times. Good luck and share your results.
  19. Toss up between Rapture Hypnotist and Stinger Nuclear Waste
  20. Try superglue first and replace the eye if it doesn't hold
