  1. All of the suggestions will work, the most important thing to remember is that u have to get some experience and find what presentations work for you. I use 20# Ande on all my spring reels and 25# Flea Flicker for later in the season just because I dont like getting my rigger lines filled up with sea fleas. The depth that you get is effected more than lure action by using heavier lines. My Power pro Dipsey presentations get deeper than mono Presentations and my wire dipseys really dive. Its a matter of drag. Just use the leader material and break strength u find works for you.

  2. My attentions where to troll walleyes when setting up my boat, till I got wind of Cohos being cough in Lower Huron and read that these fish can be had with walleye gear. You should know that cohos don't fight. I had no Idea that I would ever hook into a King. I didn't even know what lb line to use.

Anyway I'm just going to put a test to the Tectan line. If that fails I'll brake down and get spare reels spooled with 20lbs and put Sunline 16lb/10 dia on for my walleye.

Thanks for the info guys, I guess trail and error is part of learning. GOODLUCK....

If coho reached 20# u would never land them, they will pound for pound fight as hard as a steelhead. The do like to roll and make a mess if u get into bigger ones. I grew up on the Columbia River Watershed in Washington state, and we did get some 15# Silvers that were tackle busters. Now for the line diameter issue try using 30# power Pro braid for the diameter u want then use about 60 feet of 20# fluoro carbon leader. Be sure to use leader specified fluoro carbon as the bulk line is not as consistent. I had some issues with it and went to the leader material and solved the problems. If u have trouble keeping the inline board hooked up on braid try using a loop and rubberband to hook it on.

  3. I've got the Okuma Convector 55. I'm looking to join my copper to my backing to using a #3 spro heavy duty swivel and was wondering if anyone using the same setup has had problems with the swivel jamming on the reel guide?

Tie it direct to your backer using an albright knot but if you are using braid like power pro or any of the superlines be sure to put a drop of super glue on the knot to stop slipping. I Have been doing this for several years and it works great and causes no problems. Use the same knot to attach your leader, u should not need to do anyting to stop slipping with mono or fluorocarbon leader material.

  4. Ok so I didnt plan to fish today becaus of a lousy weather outlook! However I left my good glasses on the boat Yesterday and @ 10:30 I called My buddy Mark and asked if he wanted to ride over to St Joe and get may glasses. Being as insane as I am he said sure.

The rest of the story!!!! Ran down to Silver Beach and took a look at the Lake. Turned around ran back to the Marina fired up the MC2 and cleared the piers. First Line wet @ 1:30, kinda slow on a north troll staying on the edge of the mudline. Hit the north end of Jean Klok park and the 2 color with a chrome blue back Thin Fin fired, Nice King around 12#, trolled up to the Cement break wall and turned around. Got back to the pier heads and the same rod fired again but the fish jumped behind the boat befor we got the board off and it came loose, turned around at the pump station and the circus began double on dipseys on 1 back 25 and 28 both nice coho, the next fish was on the 2 color another King about 4# that had a small Lamprey on it and had eaten a hole in the fish's belly. Killed the Lamprey kept the king. Finished an hour and a half trip with 2 kings and 5 coho. The fish were a little deeper than they have been the riggers were set at 10 and 12 ft and took 2 of the fish.

Not too bad for a last minute trip to get my glasses.:D:D
