Good talking to you yesterday Larry hope you find em today. We ended 3 for 5. lost a nice king because guy on the rod cranked the drag down and tried to horse the fish. Broke the leader.

My new Humminbird 858 CDI cost me 75 bucks to get installed at Brians Marine in St Joe. We had to get an extension for the transducer cable and that was 40 bucks. They wired it and strung the transducer cable. Better to have it done right than to do it yourself and end up dissatisfied.

Nice job Jarod good to see them get started young. Having fun is what its all about.

We left our slip at 6:00 am, left the piers and headed South to the Stevensville ball, set up in about 70 FOW and started a N troll, 5 color ^ color, Full core and 300 coppers, wire dipseys out 120 and 140, 4 riggers from the bottom up to 27 feet with free sliders on all riggers. Surface temp was about 56, temp at 40 was 46 and at the bottom was 50 degrees. We ended the day 3 for 5, 1 Steelhead on a 2 color SWR that was hit as I hooked it to the rigger release, 2 coho on FB Orang glow spoons and 1 hit on a rigger parked on the bottom with a UV Clear Spin Doc and blue meat rig that came of because of operator error. Lost a big king behind the boat on a wire dipsey out 120 with a BLL Tequila Sunrise, another operator error broke a 30# leader by tightening the drag down hard and trying to horse in the fish. We quit at 11:30 with a lake that was 2 to 3 all day just kinda sloppy. Good day on the water.

An 8†UV Spin Doctor Netminder number SD70056-8 with the Oceana Mirage fly on a diver rod.
An 8†Spin Doctor Lite Green Crush Glow, number SD70353-8 with the Pickled Sunshine fly on a diver or downrigger.
Good Luck
SS
That's the way to run them, Lake Trout Killer the Pickled Sunshine with a green glow spinnie or green glow paddle.

225 and a 300 are my favorite of 45lb Morgans Copper
That is my favorite too. I run Short cores for shorter presentations. The 300' copper is a real killer this time of the summer. It gets you down to the fish and away from the boat. A definite must. I would run 2 300' 45# coppers and make a couple of rods into dipsey rods for that in between presentation. If you have Lead core use it for the higher stuff, it costs a lot less and is forgiving.

Well done Capt. Rich. Hope your season continues to produce prodigious results.

There is an old saying Tarrey, when the cotton wood is fllyin, the fishin is dyin. We are seeing smaller catches in St Joe too, but I am still marking lots of fish and really marking big bait balls outside 150FOW. I won't get out until Tuesday, but am looking forward to checking out the deepwater bite. "Should be some Steel out there.

Thanks for the information Capt. Ron!

Nice job Mike, bet the new boat is nice.
She is sweet Ed and really nice space we had 7 on board and were not crowded at all. Too many novice anglers to make a real push at landing all the strikes . I was amazed at the speed control, no bags and just running on 1 engine we trolled from 2.2 to 2.7 on the gps with no problem, the Fish Hawk is a learning experience, and the New Humminbird 858 is a huge bonus. I would recommend the 858 cdi to anyone getting a new fish finder gps combo, the down image is kind of nice but the regular graph is awesome. Marks really well and is really visible.

First trip on the new boat, Sunday, Info from my slip neighbor said 50 FOW and south lots of bait and coho were there. We Started in 45 feet, and set 4 riggers 2 dipseys, and 2color 5 color 6 color and 10 color , deep rigger had 11 inch white paddle with a blue bubble fly, other riggers set from 20 to 35' all spoons with free sliders. Best bait for the day was Fuzzy Bear, Moonglow Orange, we stayed in 50 to 60 fow, got 2 in 2 hours, 1 Coho on a 5 color and a 6# king on a 6 color same spoon, had a Steelhead hit a Limon Ice as we let it out , lost it , 2other hits and then nothing. Worked North into the 530's and at 135 got into some fish ended the day 5 for 10, Marked fish and bait in close and fro 120 to 140, nice day on the water and managed first blood on the Silverking.

Thanks to Dave and Dennis on the Pleasure Tyme For the tow Sunday. We had fuel issues on our last trip on the old MC2. We did manage 4 for 8 3 kings and a 15Lb laker, Big King was 18!/2, and small fist was 13 lbs. Spinnies and meat rigs, and wire dipseys with FB Moonglow Orange were the ticket. Riggers at 85 and 90 with spinnie and meat rig and dipseys on 1.5 out 140 and 190 with FB moonglow orange.
See everyone on the water when the SilverKing is ready to go.

Nice job Todd we were right there with you until we ran into a fuel issue. Thanks for the thoughts, we knew Denny was out there with us and they were heading in. I think we are going to have a great summer if the water stays in the 50 degree range and we can get the lake to set up a good temp break. I think the next time we are out it will be on the Silverking, should be about 2 weeks and then I will be able to spend nights on the boat and get early starts.

Went out of ST JOE this AM, found Kings from the bottom to about 40' best water depth was 90 to 110, Spin doc UV with blue meat rig down to the bottom and 10 color lead core with stinger orange killer and FB moonglow orange. Slow speed was best around 2.2 mph and we got a Laker on a 4 color FB moonglow orange. Ended the day 4 for 8 and then had to quit because of a fuel issue. Thanks to Denny Neidlinger and crew for the help.

im not disputing numbers here...all i know is when my 300 pulls back in 65 ft and i pull it in with zebra mussels i gotta believe it hit bottom...and i wasnt turning or running a plug..
I second that I have had the same thing and that is the reason that the 300 coppers don't come out until I am at 75 FOW, never had them pull up mussels at that depth but under that almost every time. We run from 2.2 to 2.7 at the ball, and slower does definitely get deeper, last summer we pulled lake trout out of 100' on 450 copper and on riggers down 105 in 100 FOW, and we got zebra mussels on both. But u have to hit the sand to get the Lake Trout.

Nice job Brian welcome to GLF.

We left the Piers at 7AM, went out to 60FOW and set lines marking a lot of bait and fish, worked out to 80 and got our first hit Lake Trout on a 2 color down the chute FB sunrise glow spoon, took a while but 2nd fish came on a free slider on a rigger set at 59', fishing was slow so we started heading out to deeper water. When we hit 168 FOW things started happening, Free sliders on riggers set at 67 and 59 both went and the 2 color 4 and 6 color were all getting hit. DOC and Stinger Modified Coyote, FB Sunrise glow were all taking hits. Found a small trash line at 170 and stayed around that as it worked out to 190. Ended up 11 for 12 and pics show the results. We got our first 3 laker of the year, 1 was on a6 color 1on a 2 color and 1 on a free slider. Nothinurl=http://www.greatlakesfisherman.com/gallery/showimage.php?i=6935&c=2]g real fast but fairly steady.
