  1. For me it depends on the bait size.

For example. I have not fished all week. My starting spread will be a mix of all size spoons. If the mags start going I start o change out to bigger spoons.. If the Super slims are going I change it to smaller spoons.

When fishing the Mud. I run MAG MAG MAG..... give them a chance t see it.

If I am fishing in and out of the mud I will leave a standard or SS on just to keep them honest.

  2. Anyone comming or fishing Holland this weekend and want to get together and get some BBQ or something. Possibly fish a 20 dollar side pot big fish?

With the WMFL not super busy this year figued it would be nice to see everyone.

    Anyone interested....

Just trying to think outside the box for fun....

No real rules other then be back to the luanch at a set time

Fish as many rods as you want... start whatever time you want...

    Honor system to pay

  3. What a differance a couple of days makes.....

The begining of the week, Iwas fishing Blue Dolphin/Green Dolphin on EVERYTHING..... Fast forward to Friday, and I ended up fishing WHITE everything. (Minus 2 spoons for steel) \

I had the please of fishing with a USA Army vet on thursday with a friend of his. I could not ask for better company. Thanks Jesse for serving our country and serving as rod boy on the Scooby Snacks.

Thursday am was the gong show with only fishing 4 rods for 2 plus hours. We would take hits as fast as I could set rods. After a bunch of lost and some good netting blunders.... 15 nice fish made it to the box.

At the end we had 14 fish and I was trying to pull lines and ended up catching 2-3 more

Fished from the sliders to Douglas point and then ran back home.

17-33 or something like that total.

Saturday AM I had the pleasure of fishing with Stuffit57 and his sone from Michigan Sportsman. After a slightly later start than normal we made the run out in the chop to 60 foot of water by the time we hit 85 we had almost 10 fish in the boat with a very happy 13 year old. Once again as fast as I could put down the riggers they would fire. One hit inparticular I set the rod cranked it down and never took my hand off the rod and it had a fish on it.

What made today super fun was a quad with no auto pilot and 3 guys. 1 on the wheel, me holding 2 rods. The 13 year old son going to town on a diver fish to have the deep copper JUST SCREAM!!!. 30 MINUTES later we get to the screaming deep copper and Jake the 13 year old man child. takes over the now 600 copper. No Joke this kid can fish tournies with me any time he wants. He put in WORK on this copper and landed the fish.

Today was full of interesting moments. Another screamer on the deep rod and Jake was fired up and ready to take over rod duty. Drag set right, big fish on I hand off the rod after I get it out of the tree. My fav. 6 am sound just sings from the drag on the reel, all of a sudden slack line......... I bring the line back in to see the 25 pound floro leader SAWED off. The fish must have swallowed the spoon and had line in the corner of its mouth as it swam away...(Not much you can do about that.)

We picked up our last 4 fish and found one swimming along the boat on its side. It must have broke off after a long fight with someone else this morning.

all in all 15 for 23

UV Spin doctor with a blue dolphin teaser rig has also been good for fish after the sun is up. Along with brads cut plugs down deep with a Green Gator Pro troll.

What I have noticed this year vs the past two are the fish are just TEARING gear apart. I have broke/bent/ destroyed hooks from every company. Owner 4x hooks are getting malled just the same. I will be the first to admit on my divers I run the drags tight when I run spoons. I want them to buttong themselfs when they hit (I do loose some gear, but 95 percent of the time when they hit, they are there for good.) This does not explain why they are tearing up the copper hooks so bad. Either way I will pay the price for new hooks if the fishing keeps up.

    The info:

All week I have fished from 60 (set up) trolled out to 90-95 and caught fish. Always on a SW troll. As the morning moved on I fished 101- 110 on a south troll.

    North troll has been Jank:(

  4. As many of you know I have had the week off work (Mostly) and have spent some good times on the big lake. Fishing has been AMAZING!! 20 plus hook ups a trip. Not as many fish landed but many good stories and a few cold ones may have fallen to a higher power;)

This morning was no differnt. Set lines at 530 or so.. .and first fish at 540. The gong show went one for about 2 hours until we turned North (BAD MOVE) 2 hours of dead time later and we went south again and started to pick up fish.

Trolled out to 150 and caught fish most of the way.

I may or may not have had to retie a 300 copper with a fish on it and then finish realing it in. (Thank you to the boat that gave us ALOT of room to do so.)

What has worked all week again worked this morning

  5. So being that is Sunday night at almost 10 pm. I get to look back at think about the great weekend I was lucky enough to have. I fished Saturday and Sunday morning with guys from work (some of them are also on this site)

    Saturday- AM

As most of you know I have been fishing up north past PS for the past month or so. Thursday night I fished in the same area up north so I figued Saturday that would be as good as place as any to start. 0500 We headed out of the piers and set down in 50 and trolled NW to 90 and then turned the boat south and looked around for the next 2-3 hours..... WITH A BIG FAT NOTHING. About the time we passed holland we picked up our first fish. We trolled all the way to Saugy picking away at fish for the next few hours and pulled lines at 11:15 ended up 6-11. The cooler had a nice mix of steel and kings with a 6 pound coho to boot.

Of the 5 fish lost..... 1 took the slider and ran it across the diver snapping the main line. the rest happend to be hyper active steelhead on the boards who put on a great show.

    Sunday AM

14-21 or 22 Lost track while dealing with a triple.

After my start on Saturday, I figued I would run away from the dead zone up north. I ran out to 70 FOW just before the sliders and trolled out to 85 FOW. By the time we were in 85 we had 3 fish in the boat. We turned the boat south and never left that water. Trolled all the way to Douglas point and turned around to troll home.

So overall for the day 18 hits came on a S troll 1 on an east 1 on a west troll.

I could not buy a fish going north. Troll speed was terrible ect.

After a couple of downtimes with a half hour to hour wait between fish we nailed a nice steel on the diver down 120 on 2 and it was just ralphin bait. We worked quarter mile circle for the next 2-3 hours just banging away at fish. We would comeplete the turn and go S though the area and take a hit or 2.

None the less I got to spend to AMAZING days on the water and catch some fish with good friends.

Radio was dead Sunday morning and I only saw a couple boats around us.

(Would like to point out that I had 3 guys in the boat Sunday. Also missing 3 fish in the pictures as we had 3 undresized lakers.)
