set the drags just tight enough that they dont creep out, when you hook up the first thing i do is loosen the drag before pulling the rod out of the holder ,this alows a smoother removal from the rod holder, that is when you can loose most of your fish ,getting the rod out. if you are getting bit and the fish are coming off before you get to the rod they are short striking or grabing the flasher ot the front of the flie and not hooking up good. to solve this issue you can speed up just a tick or change your angle of troll, that makes the fish hit from a different direction and thus getting hooked better. just myu 2 cents worth good luck.

John, Dave is rite when you are letting the copper out and the board keep tension on it ,let it out slow this will keep the copper "up" and not sinking down . make sure you keep the boat straight also when deploying copper.

the holand bouy is rite.it would be best to go deep 180 plus thats were the fish have been taken this week.

Don is rite 150 if your not in the main tourney and you can sign up at the captains meeting friday you still need to follow tourney rules so you need to be there for the meeting.

in michigan sliders are free bees dont count as lines in the water we catch lots of fish on free sliders.
I love my wire dipseys for deep divers and run braid for the highs.

the first thing i do is find bait and figure out where the current is coming from, turn into it or quarter it this ussuallv works , I have caught lots of fish when not marking them they are fast little buggers and you dont always mark em especialy kings , i think a lot of times they streak in from the sides.after you get a "good" troll direction mess with your speed to get to your boats optimal fishing speed ( not all boats fish good at the same speed )let the fish tell ya when its right then try to keep that speed at all cost if you slow down to land a fish be sure to get back to your good speed, speed is important. Fishing is all about repeatability ,find out what works and repeat it! I try to never follow other boats think about it ,your buddie is in front of you and says we are smacking em pull up behind us ..... if he is catching fish he is getting the aggresive ones out of the school before you get to it hmmm. I try to stay in "clean water" away from other boats and try to be that first boat thru a school of fish. this is just my 2 cents . jimmy

fished out of holland this pm ,started in 90 fow found the water had warmed up to 61 deg. all the way to the bottom:(, so pointed it west, got to 145 fow and found 53 deg down 100 foot went to 150 and turned se ,and took a very nice 15 lb king on wire diver back 250 with green crincle jp slammer proto type dodger, then hit 145 fow and picked up a 4 lb steelie on 250 copper with a mixed veggies slammer, went to 120 and turned it around and picked up another 8 lb king on wire diver back 300 with a uv paddle with chartruse dots and mirage flie , that was it for the night ende 3 for 3 when we got to 105 the graph lit up we should heve been there an hour erlier i guess oh well had a great time with a couple of good buddys:thumb:
