  1. I used JB weld on my Islander when I had it. Sanded it smooth and painted right over it. Harder than the aluminium. And its not expensive. It also works good for fixing skag plate on lower unit. good luck. I have also used it on fiber glass cracks on my motor on my duck boat. again better than glass repair kit and sanded it smooth and painted right over it. not even noticable.

  2. just a report to all my fellow glf ice fisherman.

Took a drive last night and found no Ice that i would fish on. There are guys on the channels at gun but i spudded through with every hit. went 25 yards and turned around. Bait store claims 1.5 to 4 inches. Aint no way. probobly just wants to sell bait.

Weatherall in martin had a good start but then the snow sank her. cant even step on it yet. another week for that one.

Fish lake near orangeville is still partially open. another good week or so for that one. drove over to lower crooked from there and it is covered and I walked out on it. It was a two hitter and then the spud went though and the same for lake doster. another week and we should have good safe ice on most lakes.

  3. Mark.

He is 20 and a half. I did a B&C score myself but I did not do it right. I entered the numbers wrong and created a bunch of deductions That I should not have gotten. I did decimals instead of the 2/8 increments like they reccomend but I came up with 151 and 2/8 before deductions and 131 and 2/8 after deductions. I am going to have someone who knows all the in's and outs do the scoring and show me the correct way to do it. The B&C online is good but kind of unclear.

  4. Thanks. that is the same info I am reading and seeing on you tube.. As far as merc oil the Mechanic at the Olsen Bros Marine over In Derby New York where I bought the boat said that fogging oil is fine as long as you only use a small amount and just roll the engine over after spraying all four cyliders with the spark plugs disconnected as to prevent it from firing.

  5. Thanks guys. I get all that stuff. But specifically what I want to know is if water can get trapped int head even with the engine down wanted to know what honda says vs Merc. . and we have already had some 30 degree nights here in michigan. And as far as using I am done for the year. My boat is brand new and I have not rigged it up to fish yet. the only thing I have done is gone for a ride or two and pull the kids on the tubes. Thanks for the feedback though.

  6. Question Frank

do you guys pump antifreeze throught your four stroke outboards? the reason I ask is the new merc four strokes dont mention it in there winterizing reccomendations. Just putting the motor in the down position according to them is what you need to do but im not convinced so I am wondering what Honda reccomends.

  7. Sorry I thought he was asking what kind of knot was used on the J plug harness. I would go with a snell and a single hook if I had to choose. A snell knot will track better as far as how straight the hook will stay in relationship to the bait tracking. Same as what is tied on crawler harness and live bait rights to give it a natural look.

  8. I have a brand new 8' shakespear VHF antenna that came with my new vhf radio that I did not use. I made up the end and tested it and it is ready to go. looked up the price on overtons and they are $100 plus new. I will take $50.00 for this one as it was part of a package deal and go it at a lower price buy buying the radio with it. Just the antenna. Bases are seperate and i used the one I bought.
