  1. That is true. We must be one of the lowest non-resident places to hunt/fish. To priority1's point, my 10 year old son duck/goose,squirrel, rabbit hunts all fall and winter for $1. I like paying a $1, but frankly I would pay $15.
  2. Here are a couple of issues that I have with the increases. 1. I don't mind some increase, but the most rescent plan is to double the fees over 3 years. Part of the problem is a decreasing number of participants. Doubling fees will reduce the number of participants, therefore decrease the amount of expected money. You aren't going to double fees and double revenue. As an example. I purchased my deer combos last year. I hunted 2 days during bow season. I won't spend the money if liscences double. In the long run by decreasing participants, you will increase the power of the anti hunter/fisherman. That is my biggest fear. At the same time we increase fees we will be decreasing officers. Do you think there will be any illegal activity? 2. The State, Feds, Schools whatever can't manage the money they have. Give them more and it will dissapear then some. Then in a few years we need to raise something again. We passed a law last year the reinforces the fact that licence money can't be moved to other budget items. But here is a fact. That money can be moved at will with the correct verbage. As an example. School Foodservice revenue can only be used for school foodservice by law. This law has existed a long time. However, by justifiying a connection to foodservice that money can be moved to buy other things. As an example, they can move foodservice money to pave a parking lot or driveway and justify it by saying they need a paved lot for food delivery. I can give you dozens of scenerios like this. Daniel
  3. Wrong Stowaway number. It is the 3731 not 3701.
  4. I just wanted to give a heads up on a great storage box that I found at Wal-Mart earlier this week. It is a Sterelite 1842. It is a chest style plastic box with metal hinges. It looks like a big tool box. It has wheels on one end for pulling. The box is $18.88. It comes in slate blue or gray. It holds perfectly 10 plano 3701's (which is the same container as the flasher file)plus a smaller plano box. It will hold 18-20 3700 Stowaway boxes. These boxes fit like they were made for it. It is in houseware department near other storage containers. Daniel
  5. I debated on selling them, but the bottom line is that I currently own 56 trolling reels, and even more rods. 52 will probably catch just as many fish. You are correct though, with Tuna's drags they will be great reels for the buyer. You are probably correct that it was too good of deal. I sold them and had 3 individuals in line in about an hour. As for ebay, that can go both ways. I have bought some rods and reels dirt cheep on there, and I have seen some stuff go used for price of new. For $5 more on auction, you lose some of that to fees, then you are down to a couple bucks difference. That's why I figured that I would try this first.
  6. I have 4 Penn 310 GTI reels. All have newly spooled 20pound test as of early august of 2006. All have silky smooth Tuna Tom Tournement Drag updates. According to Tom, these are in "very good" shape. Tom has done my regular maintainence. One reel is missing the 310 logo tag on the top. $40 each. He didn't have any. Free shipping in US if you take all of them. Daniel
  7. I have a 10' casting net for sale. $50 This has never been used. It has never been out of the bucket that it came in. The lid on the pail is missing. Daniel
  8. I have 4 ugly stick downrigger rods for sale. These are the good $55 rigger rods not the $28 that you see around. They are 7' MH. The action is pretty light for MH though. I will sell all 4 for $100. I also have 2/ 8' Berkley diver rods with roller tips. I used them for my 7 color rods. But with the tips, you could use them for wire or copper rods as well. I will sell these for $35 for the pair. The roller tips alone were $10. I have one new Okuma 8'6" Classic Rod. $15 All prices do not include shipping. I will arrange a pickup or delivery in West MI Holland to Ludington. I will be at the sport show in GR Thursday and Friday.
  9. 7' med action. I think that I have decided to keep them and sell some other rods. I do like them, but I also have just purchased some diawa 7' and 8'6". If you are interested let me know. I may change my mind again. Daniel
  10. If things go as planned, I will have a pair of used Cabela's 7' Interline downrigger rods for sale. $25ea plus shipping if needed. I live in West Michigan. Daniel
  11. GLF, Where are you slipping? Dan
  12. I have 4 Ugly Stick Downrigger rods MODEL # BWC 1120 7' MH These are the heavy duty $58 rods, not the $29 models. $100 for the 4. I also have 1 Okuma MODEL # CPDR-86M. This rod has never been used. It still has UPC wrap on it. $20 I prefer not to ship, but I would consider meeting or delivering anywhere in West MI Holland to Ludington. Daniel
  13. I just got off of the phone with Kenny Darwin. He was on the Bay when this happened, and talk to part of the response team. He actually witnessed and rescued another person the day prior to this accident. He said that he witnessed a lot of carelessness on the Bay over the weekend. Daniel
  14. Not so fast... Back up today 10 to 15 cents across west MI.
  15. That is the one. I tried to copy the pick and didn't get it right. It will hold a net fine.
  16. I have 1 Luhr Jensen Roller Rod for sale. $50 plus $10 shipping if needed. This rod is new, but I did remove and pitch the tags. I travel west MI and may be able to arrange a drop. Currently in Muskegon, MI. Daniel
  17. I have 1 Bert's fixed, angled rod holder for sale $25 shipped in US. Daniel
  18. Best four Stinger colors last year were: Jawbreaker, Lemon Ice, NBK, Chips Shanster. I ran almost exclusively Stingrays last year, but the Lemon Ice in Mag is tough to beat on a lead core. Two others in honorable mention would be Stevie Wonder, and Mix Veggie. Nuclear veggie did well for me in the dirty water this year too.
  19. I agree with Hitman on his recomendations. His suggestion is my setup exactly. I wish the Penn 875s were still available. I use the 875s for my Power Pro divers, and the Shimano 600lc for the wire. One note on the 875 is that it has a nylon line guide that I suppose will wear over time with wire, but that isn't an issue unless you can find a used one anyway. As Hitman suggest they aren't made anymore. Another option could be the Diawa gl47lc WITH a drag update. With wire, the drag is the important component. Personally ALL of my reels now have drag updates from Tuna Tom. (Ludington,MI) They are the silkiest drags available, and for under $20, you can take a lesser expensive reel and make it a very good reel. For $100, that would be my suggestion. Don't cut corners with your drag on wire. Daniel
