  1. I looked through mutiple of the threads but i still have a few questions. First I an trying to decide what brand suits my needs. I fish lake Michigan only. 27ft boat. I think i only need downscan, but the 360 degree sonar seems interesting but not sure if it would work for water depths up to 200ft. I am willing to spend between $1000 to $2000. Second, Should I be looking at the chartplotter combos or should I Purchase a chartplotter then buy a Sonar unit seperate. Third I have looked at the Humming bird sonars which seem to have 1000rms and 8000watt peak power. seems pretty good since i have been told all I need is about 250rms. I compared it to lowrance which has been highly recommended but only has 250rms but has 30000peak. Thanks for all input.
  2. I fished pentwater the 21,22,23. all three days fished the 50-120 mostly north trolls untill the 23 then on the 23 it didnt matter which direction we trolled we cought fish. fished from the start of the dunes to the point. 21 and 2nd we trolled 2.5-2.7 at the ball and anything green hit, on the 23 we slowed it down and ran meat rigs and j plugs, slow in the am but the last 90 min before sundown, couldnt keep meat rigs in the water. didnt matter the color. cought 2 coho and 4 kings, all 4 kings were over 20#'s, ran out of meat and broke my net lifting a fish out of the water so we called it a night. 48 fish total for 3 days, 10 over 20#, 4 over 25@#, 14 coho the rest were all chinook. Best fishing I have ever had.

  5. I fish out of south have and havnt had much luck lately, I have been hearing alot of people talking about heading out to 240ft and deeper to catch fish. I know it will cost alot more to go out that far but if it would put fish in the boat im all about it. Any thoughts or tips would be much appreciated

  10. I was fishing in lake Michigan. I use a depth raider speed sensor. I thought it seemed fast but I did pick up a 15# king on a dipsy. trolling with some flys and spoons. I wonder if there is something wrong with my depth raider system?
  11. Thanks for your time and advice. I really appreciate it and will try this next rip out.
  12. I am confused about trolling speeds. I fish out of south haven Mi on lake Michigan. I was under the impression I need to be trolling about 2.5-3mph at the ball but I have been reading depth charts that all say that the data is 2.0 and 2.5mph on the gps. last weekend I had to troll 5.5-6.mph on the gps to get 2.5-2.7 at the ball. Can anyone help me...... am I trolling to fast???
  13. I am very new to fishing and have been running my lures about 10-20 feet behind the ball. Should I run it longer or is that a good distance. I also wonder if I run it longer will I start to tangle my other lines when I bring fish in reel lines in to change lures. thanks for the help
  14. I also wondered if I should go with a short leader like maybe 5 feet from the copper. I just wonder because I have read so much about fish being attracted to the sounds from the copper.
  15. Thanks, I think that is a good idea to use mono then fluorocarbon. I just wonder if the fish see the mono that close. maybe that's a dumb question.
  16. thanks, I think I have 50 foot now.... Maybe I will shorten them.
  17. I consider myself a beginner in salmon fishing. I mostly fish out of south haven, MI. I have 2 150' and 1 300' copper 45# setups. My question is how long of a leader of fluorocarbon should I have attached to the end of my copper or should I just have a swivel attached to the copper and attach my spoons ect. Thanks for the help.
