Anyone ever try replacing the transom in a 22 ft. aluminum boat? I want to go from the old I/O to an outboard. With Starcraft Stinger 400 outdrive there will be a huge hole where the outdrive sets so figured on just replacing the whole thing.I know you need the cut out in the center of the transom so the motor will clear the bottom of the boat, not even sure at this point what motor and how long of shaft I will be dealing with. Then there is the splash pan to be made and installed, just not sure it is worth all the work.

The big rolling waves were coming right up the chanel at Manistee and I watched severl break over the top of the concrete in front of the Coast Guard Station across from the fish cleaning station.

The DNR has nothing to do with the wolves, they are federaly regulated untill they get delisted again. As far as antler restictions, chances are they listened to what the sportsman wanted, you can blame that one on the QDM crowd I think. So far I see none of your complaints that are the DNR's fault, not to mention it's not their job to make you happy but rather manage the wildlife for the betterment of the wildlife and not hunter satisfaction.

i have a idea, why not sell them for cat food instead of netting alwives.
but i agree KILL THEM ALL!
Actually they thought about it but decided aginst. They did not want to creat a demand for for fear everyone would want to grow them for extra money.
Joe
They were first brought here to clean up the catfish ponds down south. No one fore saw what would happen if things flooded and now we are stuck with the after math.

A little food for thought. When sponsers donate prizes they don't like the idea of someone selling what they win. I know Big Jon stipulated the last couple years(can't speak for this year) that the down riggers were not to be sold for more than I beleive dealers cost. Even the Summer Fun tourneyment that beave had the sponsers didn't want to see their prizes being sold. The last thing you want to do is piss off the sponsers because with out them we would not have a tourneyment.

Thanks for the ride today . It was a great time on the water, to bad our hook to land ratio sucked so bad maybe we would have done better than 3rd place finish. Roger great fishing with ya, hope to do it again sometime.

I am pretty sure Big Jon and Fish Hawk will not work together. Get ahold of bluedevil, he had the head unit for sale for a Fish Hawk a while back.

It is a for a Great Cause fishctchr and Thank You for donating the trip as a prize. I know last year was a blast folks so sign up and come out and have a good time. You don't need biggest boat or all the latest high tec gadgets to enter, it's just a bunch of guys getting together and supporting a great cause and having fun doing it. We are all limited to the exact same spoons and flies so nobody has an advantage, lots of fun. And you never know, you could walk away with a new set of Big Jon's or a charter boat trip or one of many other great prizes.
PS: Just talked to Fisherman's Landing yesterday and they have plenty of camp sites still open so you can make a weekend of it it you want.

Changing transom
in Boat Maintenance and Rigging
Posted
Thanks guys but the trouble is the guy I bought the boat from bolted a piece of 3/4 treated plywood to the inside of the transom. He claimed the original transom was fine but wanted something he could put screws into without hurting anything. The other thing is with the Stinger out drive it leaves at least an 18 inch square hole when it is removed so figured it would be just as easy to replace everything.
