  1. Finally had a good day out of Port, ran out to the deep water and found some coho and rainbow. 135 degree heading for 9.5 miles. Its fun when every rod in a 11 rod spread takes a hit.

Hot baits were moonshine rv bloody nose and crab face and DW SS double orange with gold tape and mixed veggies.f/f on a rigger down 61 and a dypsy 3 set out 121. 14 for 25 ><> 9 bows and rest coho.

  2. He's exactly right at under $1000 you can not buy a better unit. 7 inch touchscreen with a 1000watt sonar and the best gps on the market regardless of price, one very strong unit.

Just one tip, do not buy the 300 watt transducer get at least the 600 watt p66 to take full advantage of the sonar.

I did what Ryan suggested with the P66...:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

Unbelievable difference in size of transducers from what I had..:thumb:

  3. My2sons, I went through the same scenario your going through now. I did go play at the stores with all the competition.I have used my buddies Lowrance stuff, I had Eagle FF and gps.

I bought a Garmin 740s from Frank/Calumet Marine(site sponsor)..flat out best deal and his son Hondam rocks as far as knowledge and sharing info that I could understand.

I was also looking for a unit to add radar down the road.

  5. Nick, Good luck on the shoulder surgery. I can relate to that. I hope yours turns out as well as mine has.

Good luck as well, been there twice, both turned out well but I have since ripped one up AGAIN.....grrr. the million dollar question is when to have the surgery......definitely not now, I missed one spring/early summer season.

  6. We see them every spring and fall in the shallows and some are very good sized. At these times they seem fairly easy to target. The question is where are they in the summer? Has anyone targeted them in the summer anyone with good success or is it just a stumble upon one or 2?

On the west side of the lake we look for them where the thermocline(when it sets up) meets the bottom or around structure.

  7. I even take it off for fish boils. Some if it will flake a little the real thin pieces on the edge but for as long as its in the water to just cook it through i havent had any problem with it falling apart. I use fillets not steaks when doing a fish boil.

:thumb: skin off for boils as well, those spring coho hold together just fine in the kettle.
