  1. As i sit here watching my desktop pc reformat,and procrastinating from doing anything on the honeydo list, I figured I would start a thread that anyone could participate in..

    Here are the details. I am going to post a fish species. The next person who replys can use either the first or last letter of the fish species and has to post another fish etc . etc.

    I will get it started...

    TUNA

  2. Just went out on hitman charters last weekend. The same question was asked.

    No they dont sharpen hooks, they use Gamakatsu.

    They claim they are the sharpest, but they can also be straightened out by a fish as well..

  3. I made it home safely around 3:30 today. Had a cooler full of fish and deer meat..and some other goodies in the trunk. I am lucky I made it thru customs.(GLF will know what I mean)

    It was a great weekend. I had a ton of fun and I can now put a face to the names(Unfortunately you guys are all ugly :D J/K) as well I have a better understanding of the locations that are referenced on the site.

    I am glad I did not bring any Canadian beer up there cause CAZ would still be passed out in his chair..That Waly guy kept dialing the wrong number, right Caz.

    I have a few people that I owe an extra thanks too.

    Thanks Mike(GLF) and family for puttin me up at there place for the weekend.

    GLF took me around and showed me the sites as well as put up with my snoring.

    Terry and Bob: Thanks for takin me out Saturday morning on the Dirty Dog.

    It twas a foggy morning abord the Dirty Dog but we navigated the piers safely. Once we were on the lake I helped out by chumming the waters for a few minutes(should have brought some antacid, cause that coffee(screech) just killed my gut..

    Larry(Heavy Action) took me and GLF out on Sunday. I got to navigate the boat while they dropped lines..I sucked... I had that boat going in circles, it was to dark for me to see, just ask them..We only boated 1 fish.

    I probably slowed both boats down a bit with my greenhorn inexperience fishing riggers from a boat. I never even heard of leadcore until I joined this site. Heavy line for me is 8lb test. But both skippers were patient and in the end we had a great time, at least I did.

    Those are the biggest 1 foot waves I have ever seen. In the future I will scale all fish lengths and weights in direct proportion to those 1 foot waves. You guys may have to switch to the metric measurement system..

    Gonna have to buy a 31 foot tiarra..

    Also a little tip for you guys. You have your reels on upside down. I have never reeled in line using my right hand before. Took me about 2 hours to reel in 700 feet of leadcore, at the same time someone is yelling REEL FASTER(LOL). You guys need electric reels :D

    If you want to learn how to work the back of a boat, You need to watch the hitman (John)(,hope thats right). He went non stop for 6 hours on the back of the hitman. He was a total proffesional and amazing to watch in action. We almost lost him at sea(that was a huge wave).

    Thanks to everyone who showed up and made it a great weekend.

  4. Have a chat with him and explain to him that it is customary to where this hunting outfit the first time he hunts on your father-in-laws property.

    Then report to the police the unfortunate hunting accident that has taken place.

    Honest officer, I thought it was a deer.. :D

  5. what kind of vehicle are you using to tow.

    The reason i am asking this is: Vehicles with separate brake/signal bulbs(usually an amber colored lense) require a logic module to sort out the distribution of voltage to the lights on the trailer.

    Also check the lights at night and see if:

    with the running lights on, are the taillights on the trailer about the same brightness.

    When you step on the brake pedal , the one side does not work does it not work at all, is it dim, does the side that works go dim.

    Most wiring problems are caused by a poor ground connection usually on the trailer.

    I am assuming you are using a standard 4 pin connector>>

    To isolate wether the problem is the vehicle or trailer do this:

    discinnect the trailer from the vehicle plug.

    Tools needed>>> Testlight

    >>> 12 volt battery( take the battery out of the boat)

    >>> 2 long pieces of wire or "test leads"

    4 prong trailer connector:

    white = ground

    brown = running lights

    green = right rear brake/signal

    yellow = left rear brake/signal

    hook the clip end of the test light to ground( white wire)

    turn on lights/ touch testlight end to brown wire.

    turn on brake lights/ touch testlight end to green and then yellow wire

    turn on left signal/ touch testlight end to yellow wire

    turn on right signal/ touch testlight end to green wire

    test light should illumanate brightly on all circuits, with the running light circuit(brown) being noticably dimmer than the brake/signal circuit.

    To verify the ground on the connector with the test light clipped to the white wire of the connector, touch the positive post of the battery( need test leads). if the ground is good test light will illuminate brightly.

    If the vehicle is ok. proceed to the trailer.

    Trailer:

    set a 12 volt battery near the connector, use test leads to connect battery to trailer plug.

    connect neg battery lead to ground on connector(white wire)

    connect positive lead to brown wire, running lights should illuminate.

    connect positive lead to yellow wire, left signal/brake lights should illuminate.

    connect positive lead to green wire, right signal/brake lights should illuminate.

    example: If the left rear doesnot illuminate.

    leave test leads hooked up.

    ground the test light securely, remove bulb, touch thest light to the connector in the socket.

    If test light does not illuminate, you have no power getting to the bulb(bad wire)

    If test light illuminates you have a bad ground.

    I am assuming that bulbs are ok.

    Left side = driver

    right side = passenger

    Good luck, pm me if you are still having problems, or if this helps you out

    Mike

  6. Guys and Gals.

    I am still around, I have been busy trying to get my honey-do-list done before I drive up to Michigan in August to visit with as many of you as I can.

    Just thought I would give ya an update..

    Mike
