Port Sheldon .... ice is still blocking the lake between the launch (no ramps in yet) and the channel. Lake Michigan entrance appears to be somewhat clear, you just can't get through the ice.

Fished from 7:30am-11:00, 9-14. Shot out to 260 today. Found a pod of fish, but only got one rip on a meat rig. Fish were 55-80 down. I only had a three rod spread. Made several patterned passes, but I couldn't get any hookups. Went thru a slew of baits. Slowed trolled back to 185 fow the last hour, with very few Marks. Picked up and came in. Good luck maybe the bigger bunch was farther out. Lake was like glass. Surface temp was 69.

1 for 3 trolling Holland Harbor with the kids today.  Once we learned that the kings weren't out front but instead deep into the channel and even into Lake Mac we did better and managed our big fish of the year and my son's largest ever (he reeled it in). 38.5 inch male weighing 23.5 pounds came on size 4 chrome red head jplug in 26 fow down 15 on rigger inside Lake Mac directly out from Parkside Marine at around 3.00pm.  

No flouro at all? Doesn't seem to change the bite percentage?

How are the weeds etc, when you pull your trailer out? I hate cleaning all that off out of Port Sheldon.

Nice catch. Very rewarding after a long day. Great determination! 

Nice to meet you to. Fished inside in 90 FOW pretty much all day. 6 trout biggest was a 21.08 on standard trout tackle. (as seen in photo of sister holding her catch) slow day. 

 Fished 7am-12, 80-135 fow, calm waves, surface temp 59.5-63.7. Village joined me today. Nice to have those extra lines!

Great day!

Fished 7:15am-12, 3/5 all small laketrout, 20-30 fow north of harbor, North troll, 2.5sog, 4C and 5C with artic ice and glow lemonberry spoons. Went out to 50 fow and had one lost hookup and one hit that destroyed my home made green fly I  call Irish Shadow. Nice day, 1 ft waves. Water was very cold in shallow.

Fished 3 rods, 7:30-12pm, 1 for 4, 210-250fow.  First catch came at 8:03am,  8# steelhead on rigger 44 down  and back 40, in 236fow, 2.4 sog, sw troll, ball temp 50.8 with a michigan stinger std UV Veggie.
Next two rips came off Hawg Wild flasher and Catch-a-bunch fly with 7C. The final rip was on the UV veggie again.
It was getting hot but few biting flies for a change. The lake was fairly flat with surface temp 72.4 The launch ramp was packed as well as the channel, but everyone seemed to have their senses about them for a change.

 Fished 6-9pm, 1 for 1,  12# king in 115 fow at 8:12pm, north troll sog 2.5, on 210  copper with a mix veggie flasher and blue meat rig, a little southwest of the harbor. No other rips. Tough on 3 rods. But it was a lot cooler fishing this evening. Launch was a green mess. Also, leaned up against one of my poles and put a treble hook in my arm. I had to pull it through and cut it off, before I  could bring in my rods. A nice night otherwise.

Nice brown and steel.

Long time on the lake today 6:30-2pm. Started out for a laker bite, but could not get it to go between holland and saugatuck 120-140 depth. Headed out for deeper water 200 ft, but no marks. Went back to 120-140 range. Marks but no takers. After 6 hours and lots of heat thought I would call it a day.  Started to pull my lines in then BANG!!! 10.33# steelhead hits. Another fish hits my slide diver 1/2 hour later. Both  in the 120 ft range and lots of marks also.

1 for 2, both hits came at the last hour.

1-1 rigger with mag blue dolphin back 45, down 81,east troll, ball temp 47.8, sog 2.5., surface temp 72.

0-1 slide diver with green nbk mag.

Hate those flies!!!!

I use the bead about a foot up the line and a snap swivel not the swivel provided for years.

I've run the slide diver for at least five years --no problem---both of my divers are set up on wire with 50' of 80 # test power pro and 8-10 of 20# mono leader.==big lake
