  1. Anything going on in Frankfort, or are all the fish in the river?
  2. Even in the Middle of the Keewenaw Bay (Lake Superior) I had some Jack come all the way out (6 miles) and set up shop right next to me and basically troll on my tail all morning. He finally came up next to me and asked -- what's the trick out here? I responded -- getting off my ass would be a good start. Damn trolls.
  3. I didn't own a GPS until I sat on Lake Superior ( 6 miles out) in the spring for 6 hours totally twisted due to some thick fog that rolled in, and a compass that wanted to spin. With the Fog horns now inactive (got to love self service) -- we were stuck for hours until we could spot the faint glow of a city off in the distance. $89 GPS from Gander Mountain -- I love it, and can't believe I haven't had one until now.
  4. Also, believe it or not -- Portage Lake seems to be holding some Steelhead in the middle of the lake -- running thunder sticks and reef runners off of lead core has been producing Walleye and Steelhead -- lots of fish on the graph towards the bottom in the deeper holes.
  5. The shelf off the old Barn has been pretty hot -- fish are stacked up in about 100 feet of water and are hitting wobble glows or peanuts behind dodgers. Slow is the name of the game out there. Lots of fish stacked off of Pequaming, no idea what they are and can't get anything to hit no matter what I throw at it. Salmon are moving back into the South Entry - Coho Candy and Rapalas work good -- as well as crawler Harnesses (yes - for Coho) I use the crazy Ivan move -- zig zagging so port speeds up, while starboard slacks up, then vice versa -- catch Salmon on the fast side and Walleye on the slow side -- what a combo.
  6. too many people mark their GPS return point within the peir head -- not a good idea, while in a storm to follow a straight line through a breakwall -- you tend to lose that battle. Make your GPS return waypoint about 100 feet out in front of the breakwall entry and you should be fine.
  7. It may be you -- I was having the same issue with all my gear until I sparyed it all down with WD-40. I guess some of us transfer L-Lysine to the lures, which after time can be a repellent. Call it crazy, or just a coincidence, but I did notice a difference.
