I'm glad your back up plan was good enough the take first. I'm sure your daughters had a blast. Great job.

I'm in. Thanks for all the pestering Dave.

I had some plans cancel last minute and can now fish this Saturday. I have a boat, but no crew. Is anyone interested or need an extra crew member?

I've been hearing a lot about lemon berry and hot lobster taking fish over the radio. Is that you out of Holland? Thanks for the report.
-
Yikes! I hope that happened near a repair shop or home.
-
Took my dad out for his first salmon trip ever with the hopes of handing him a screaming rod with an angry king on the other end. I'll let the picture tell the story n:grin:
Went 2 for 3. One king, one laker. Didn't mark many fish, but got all three hits 40 down in 100 fow. Blue dolphin took the king, green dolphin hooked the laker. Lost fish came on a blue and yellow dolphin (don't know the name).
-
Great job! Did you mark many fish on the way out to 100 fow?
-
Great job! I hope the lake stays calm long enough today for me to get out!
-
Don't worry, our fine furried friends in the woods, if you live nearby, quickly dispose of such carcasses.
That is not an option for me, I live in the city.
-
Does anyone know when the fishing cleaning station in Holland will be open? I hate bringing fish home because I don't have a place to easily dispose of the carcase.
-
Nice job! We trolled the same waters and were hoping for a few lakers to passage time but couldn't get any to go. I guess jointed plugs were the way to go.

I've gone out twice and have not done very well this Spring. Last Tuesday the water was anywhere between 44-47 degrees out to 40 fow. No hits, no marks. I didn't try too long because I had some non fisherman friends on board. I'll most likely be out tomorrow as well in my friend's boat, we might try Port Sheldon.

My copper setups consist of 2 each of;
150 32#
200 32#
250 32#
300 32#
250 45#
300 45#
This covers the water column every 10' starting at 30'
My favorite one is the one that targets the zone where the fish are.
Generally there are fish in the 40-60' down range, so the most used is the 250, and 300' 32#.
I'm going to rig up a 300' 60# to see what that will do.
I was so proud of my:
5 color
200 32#
300 32#
until reading this post........

Adam,
I have heard that Lake Mac and the Black River in Holland gets a decent white bass run however I have never fished for them specifically. A few of my students did really well for them from shore last year.
-
Make sure you are safely prepared for that trip this time of year,as you may be the only boat out there.BE SAFE AND GOOD LUCK! SOUNDS FUN!
Thanks Joel, that is the number one factor I consider when wanting to go out deep. My crew and I wouldn't survive long enough for a rescue if we went in the water.

wild at heart went to 190 last sat he marked tons of fish but no takers
Do you have a guess how many miles from shore 200 fow is from Holland?
-
Ice was still solid at Holland today
Darn! Was this by the DNR boat launch? I've been meaning to check it out but haven't had a chance.
-
Is anyone planning on heading out to Lake Michigan this weekend? I am thinking about launching out of Holland but am concerned about the ice in Lake Mac.
If I do get out, it would be nice to see a few other boats around. I'm always a little timid when I'm out super early or super late in the season since the weather is not as forgiving.

They are 4" x 4"
I believe they are identical to Big Jon bases. If you order the triple rod tree you have a choice of the 4 X 4 base or Bert's style base.
-
I think I am in as well.

After seing the original post, I ordered a set of these for my Walleye boat. I am very impressed with the build on theses. They also have a nice finish, and no rubber caps to fall off.
I'm glad you like them, I can't wait to use them in the Spring.
-
Nice, looks like they have gimbals in them too. Is that what that bolt at the bottom of the tube is?
Yes, these swivel 180 degrees with just one hand. As I said earlier, I am extremely impressed with the quality of this product at such a great price.
