  1. Great job Kyle. Fishing was not easy this weekend on this side of the big pond.
  2. Nice job. That hook jaw pig would look great on the wall !
  3. Fished from 5am until 2pm with the brother Chris, his GF, and Mushy. Started out at 300 to 360. Lemon ice on 5 color and seahawk bcbp with silver dodger picked up 2 bow. yellow fly and yellow flasher 80 ft back and 80 ft down got the laker. and found 2 shakers on both bcbp set ups, they were both DOA. Pulled up stakes and headed in for smoother waters. Set up in 180 and continued to head in until 100, land a 12 king on the bcbp wonder bread and wonder bread dodger 60 ft down and 100 ft off the ball. Found one more shaker on the bcbp again. Ended up going 4 for 4 plus 3 shakers. Makes a guy wonder how many other fish you miss by having the shakers sucking on the end of the lines....... Had a great time with the family. If the wind lays down start deep 300 plus and keep the lures in the upper 100 feet.

  5. Thanks for the help guys. The pump handle brought in one of the 2 fish today.
  6. Ok thanks the set up info. Now what am I looking for on the rod action, is it going to bounce around a lot or once in a while? Am I supposed to check for the bottom once in a while? I am pretty clueless on this one, I have never seen anyone run the pump handle set up. Thanks for all the input. Maybe I can get a big king this weekend.
  7. I am going to try running a pump handle this weekend. Since I have never ran one of these, I am asking for any tips and hints. So far the plan is 40 braid down to a 3 way swivel. At the swivel I drop 15'' inches to a 1 lb ball with 20lb mono. Then running 30lb floro to the dodger and fly. Then run this out the chute. Am I looking for issues with this????
  8. Randy, GSM here. I love those PHMs they can really scream. I think the Navy sold those all off, too pricey I guess. I always wanted to be stationed on one of those. Thanks for the welcome.
  9. Steve, Thanks for sharing your time too. Starting my second year and I would love see my son ( and the rest of the boys in my den too) take this all the way to Eagle scout!
  10. Thanks Kyle, Can DO !!! I am planning on making up to the bay some time this year or possible the next. One day Walters and the other day Salmon.
  11. Mike, Sure brings back good memorys doesn't ! Never had the pleasure of the bucket throttle control. That puts us right about the same age! I was trained in Jet engine propultion. I served on the USS John Hancock DD 981 (decommed and cut up) for 2.5 years, Assult Craft Unit 4 ( you tube LCAC they are awesome) for 3 years and the remaining time Military Police Harbor patrol on Naval Base Norfolk (unaffectionatly know as Little Chicago for all the trouble and it is the 2nd larest city in VA during working hours), we ran 3 of the 26' monark aluminum boats with twin 150 evinrude counter rotating outboards and a 23' foot boston whaler with twin 130s. Which I personnal had serious props out of the water hang time from a huge wave. Visited lots of ports and cool places but nothing beat the USA. Sorry more ramblings.... Glad you enjoyed the post and thanks for the great site.
  12. Where are you planning on fishing?? The west point of the Super or are you planning trips to Lake Michigan??
  13. Welcome...from another new guy. Where are you from?
  14. Sorry I did not write this sooner, I just missed it. Thanks you to all that have already shared the many helpful tips. I love this site. I grew up near Port Washington, Wi. My brother in law (now X..... dang it ....Sherry) dragged me out fishing all the time. I guess no one else wanted to get up at 4 am to go fishing. That is where I got my love for this big puddle. I sure learned a lot of stuff from him. That was the mid 80's and fishing was pretty good. Do you remember the old school stuff... paper graphs, speed indicator made of a sinker and mono tied to a pointer, homemade down riggers, all the radio chatter (I miss that radio.... sometimes) ??? Thanks Larry G. !!! Wind the clock a bit ..... I spent 8 years in Uncle Sams Canoe Club (navy 88-96) I moved to Oshkosh to be close to my brother / pheasant hunting buddy. Renee and I have 3 girls in college Heather, Sarah, and Crystal and the boy Mason (aka Mushy). The girls are part time fishergirls and Mason is well on his way to being a hard core fishing nut.... 7 years old and knows Lake Michigan lingo ..... I love it !!!! Renee helped me land the boat of my dreams this spring. We got a 2011 Lund Tyee 1750 with a 150 Merc Verado with lots of extra goodies. I still can not believe it is our boat. Thanks Hunny! Living in Oshkosh is a pain when you want to go to Lake MI, you have to go 30 minutes south or north before you can head towards the lake. I am pretty sure Renee is going to file for a divorce if I keep getting her up at 2:45 to hit the lake at 5am (kidding I hope). But on the brght side, The time / distance is the close to the same for Port Washington, Sheygoygan, Trivers (2 rivers), Manitowoc, and Green Bay. Plus the Winnebago system awesome for Walters. We have fished out of all these ports this year except Green Bay. We have meet many nice people along the way too. I am an avid ( wife calls it a sickness) pheasant hunter and an ok deer hunter. Renee and I are both volenteers with Cub scouts pack 3615, I have a den of 10 wolf scouts. I find that to be very rewarding, getting the boys exposed to many outdoor / conservation experiences and to help them be good little persons. I really enjoy giving kids and adults the chance to fish and land their first silver. 5 kids and 2 adults so far and more to come ! I am hoping to volenteer some trips (like make a wish or disabled vets) in the years to come. What a great way to give back to the sport I love. Renee is starting to see and understand why I love being out on the lake. The early morning sunrise views, the peace and quiet, and the singing of the cable through the water. The smell of hot coffee that mixes with the lake air. That smell is way different when you are out on the big puddle instead of the office. Well thanks for reading my personal ramblings, I hope you enjoyed it. 63 fish in 11 trips so far in 2011. Keep your hook in the water ! Mushy's Dad out
  15. Nice vacation! Looks like a great family. Letting the kids pick out the lures is a good luck charm in my boat too. It really lights up the kids face when they catch a fish on a lure they picked out !
  16. sorry "Bad dates Indie" it was August 6th Saturday
  17. Holy Cow !!! ...... We got out at 5am headed out to 300 just south of the harbor. Landed one big bow on a brand new blueberry muffin, his was so intent on getting off he curled the spoon in half. Cruised around 300 for a while and ran into sea fleas on the lines, those are a slimy pain. Not much going on out there other than the fleas so we ran into 180 a few miles north of the harbor. Three line set and things started poping fast. We had a hard time getting the all the lines set. After 3 fish we finally got all 9 set. We had several fire drills today....3 doubles and almost a quad. What a blast. We stayed in the 180' to 160' range trolling north mostly and following a scum line of algae covered alewifes. 2,3,5, and 7 color all getting action even the flat line 150 yards out the chute got one. Monkey puke, rotten banana, orange with orange ladder back, green dolphin were the hot spoons. 47' on one rigger 38' on the other and running 90' and 105' feet off the ball. Dipsey rods 100' and 140' foc with a #2 set on the dial. Green coyote dodger and green fly had multiple fish. Once again Brads cut bait plugs was our work horses for today. Silver and metalic blue cbp behind an all silver dodger and the wonder bread dodger with wonder bread cbp. Tuna in oil and garlic is down right deadly on these fish. The bows put on quite a show for us today, at least a dozen of them thought they could be part of the air show in Milwaukee. One big bow cleared over 6 feet of air dragging a 8'' dodger and fly, he spit it right at the top. It was awesome!! In the end we had over 40 hits and landed 20 fish, including 3 shakers that I was able to catch before they were dead and the last fish of the limit came as a double. One more as we were picking up the lines. Got them back in quick and happy. Keep your hook in the water! Mushys Dad 63 fish in the box on 11 trips this year! I have very happy neighbors
