  1. Ed and Aaron, thanks for your focused views, links, and help in protecting hunters/fisherman in Michigan, all the best. This HSUS, PETA, HS, and other like feely-good liberal minded orgs., are disrupting life to all sportsman across the nation. They will stop at nothing with huge pockets of cash and misinformation, "unsound science", aka lies/farces to get their ways with new government legislation. Consider "global warming", aka "climate change", another huge farce perpetrated on the US public, for a means to an end, that of quashing and ending life as we as Americans have known it forever. Gore's very own favorite scientists have recently come out and admitted to a warped agenda to gain attention, and make huge amounts of money. Global warming is the biggest lie ever! Our freedoms and sporting activities, along with rights, are being attacked everyday, and from every direction. Standing by idly while these sort of acts are being proposed as future legislation, will nullify and crush our sportsman rights forever. Out-of-state PETA bums came to Ludington too years ago, and made some nasty advertisements and drive-by's of lake fisherman claiming the hooks are inhumane to the fish harvesting. They haven't been back since we fisherman made them quite unwelcome on several fronts, including shots across their bow when running over charterboat lines. Keep the faith, and keep this important petition circulating so as many signatures we need, are had.

  2. Addendum: I know most of the Ludington boats and can't remember this one. I also have fished Algoma/Baileys Harbor many times over the years, and like them over S.B.. St. Bay is quite a travel to Lk. Mich. over the marinas elsewhere. Fishing Green Bay in the late summer and fall is pretty productive at times, don't ignore it, it's also closer than the big lake. We also have a bank we fish in Ludington off Big Pt. Sable, and when the late summer weekends come, it's the last place I usually go, too much combat fishing, not fun. If you do go there, go early and then work it out as required by traffic. One long very early pass can load the cooler quickly before the weekend warriors appear.

  3. First off, congrats on that new beauty Tim, big, and nice fishing platform for sure. Secondly, outriggers already mounted and in nice fresh water condition shouldn't be just offed and sold cheaply. These useful and versatile tools are great for getting lures/bait/lines away from a boat on a spooky day for fishing, which we have all had. Next, consider the replacement cost of them. Some are pretty economical these days, some are very costly. Also, remember that the void is going to leave some nice mounts on the boat, one which a buyer would probably want with the purchase, and this would leave some mounting hardware/holes in the sides/gunnels that dress this vessel up nicely, imho. The outrigger is required tackle for most saltwater applications, and I think they really dress up a fishing boat at sea or dockside. Flying flags in lieu of fishing them is also a good idea, along with decorative lights for parades/tournaments. I say keep them, and be glad someone took the time and expense to leave them behind, as most of these setups can be quite expensive. Can you post a pic. of them on the boat, and what make are they? Thanks.

  4. I've used the old fashioned rubber band method too for many years, always works for me. I've said this before, and will again, any fisherman can double his chances of catching a fish on a rigger by using the fixed or free slider option. It's not complicated, and with two lures fished at different/similar depths on the single rod, you can catch many more hits and fish on any given day. We got this idea when you could only fish two rods per person, and there weren't many anglers aboard. It sure helped make up for the small group, with many more fish in the box. Welcome aboard Chasin Dan, hope you enjoy the guys here, they are great for any info. you want.

  5. Here's another idea, maybe. Since you have 7 children, maybe they could give you and mom a cruise to the Bahamas. It may involve each donating $300+-, to make that $2,000 idea happen in January or February. Don't know if they have that kind of $$ and whether or not dad could get vacation time, or if you don't like cruises either, just another idea though, thanks.

  6. Not much time left now for this idea. Last Christmas a friend of mine gave his daughter a novel gift. He's a welder, does the aluminum/ss type fixtures/radar arches/trees/etc. for boats. From the scrap pieces in the back, he got enough material to make a snook out of aluminum plate that was about 3' long X 18" wide. When she saw the gift, it made her day without question. A lifetime gift/memory is what I also appreciate the most, from the hands and heart of the relative, not so much the store. If they themselves have artistic qualities, or have a friend that does, this lasts.

  7. You read my mind Joe, how old indeed? Makes all the dif. too! Seafoam helps remove water/condensation from gas to burn better. Varnish type gas should be disposed of properly/or burned at the campfire with green/wet wood as an accelerator like these rainy days if need be.
