I meant to put this in the "Wanted" category. Sorry for the error.

I am looking for a 14'-16' aluminum boat with trailer in decent condition. I have a 15 hp Yamaha that is too much for my 12 footer. I am more intersted in a old bargain than a newer, nicer boat. Thanks.
  3. Fished this weekend (not in the tourney) out of Frankfort. Had 18 kings on Saturday morning and 5 Sunday morning. Average size was 11-15 pounds with only a couple around 20. Lost a coho at the net and that was the only one I saw all weekend although there were some being called out on the radio. All but 2 fish on J plugs, the others on meat. Fished Thursday out of the Platte, got a late start and went 1 for 2, done at 8:30am. Rivermouth is not yet dredged out and somewhat tricky. Other boats had 3-5 fish, mostly smaller kings caught early. Lots of fish yet to be had, good luck.
  4. I fished yesterday morning and evening and there are a ton of fish out there. With the wind shifted to the east, the Herring Hole will be BUSY in addition to the GLPAA tourney this weekend. Slips will be very hard to come by. But the fishing is great, temp is way up (40' or higher) but the fish are at all depths. The 20 plus kings weren't around yesterday, but lots of fish 12-18 pounds. The most common strategy is to go straight out to the break and then head north to Point Betsie ...100 plus depths worked the best for us yesterday. Everything went, spoons, dipsey, hoochie, Spin Doctor, J plug, rigger, etc. The biggest problem is keeping rods in the water at dawn or dusk...not a bad problem to have. Good luck to all!
  5. I have a 99 Chevy 1500 that I tow with. Thanks Mike, and eveyone else for their help in this matter. I will be fishing Frankfort this weekend and will report on Monday.
  6. Will do, thanks for the advice.
  7. We fished out of Frankfort the last couple of days with some really nice kings (one 23 and a couple of 20's) and a bonus LT that ended up on the plus side of 20 pounds. Temp is pushed way down but the fish were still biting on the deep riggers. Spin doctors and flies took most of the fish. Glad to hear that everyone is doing well up here. The launch will really start getting busy so if you go in the morning, get up a little earlier or you'll be waiting for a while, even with four docks. Good fishing to all.
  8. I have been battling the lights on my trailer. The driver side brake/blinker doesn't work, but the tailight does with the lights on the truck on. I have switched bulbs, bought a new adapter, and recently put a new wiring system on a smaller trailer with the same resluts. Tried it on a different vehicle with the same results. I am 100% confused. If anyone has any ideas, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
  9. I haven't been able to get out lately, but just an FYI...Someone caught a 32 pound 12 oz. king out of Frankfort last weekend. Good fishing at dusk.

    Smoking salmon

Thanks for the help everyone...now I need to catch some fish!

    Smoking salmon

LOooking for a good smoking brine/ marinade and tips on how to smoke fish. My last batch last year was an eyeball/ guesstimate and it tasted like it too. I have a couple Little Chiefs, but am interested in upgrading those also. Any and all advice is welcome and appreciated. Thanks.
  12. The Brown Trout Festival in Alpena is going strong. A solo fisherman boated a 28 pound brown trout the other day; biggest in the tourneys history. Lots of fish up around the wreck an a bunch of kings 8-11 pounds. Should be a great Super Tourney this weekend!
  13. I fished Frankfort several times last week and had pretty decent success. Some bigger fish are around now and pretty hungry in the morning. Last Thursday I went out by myself and ended up 4 for 3 at 6:13 am, including a 20# on the dipsey. Also, my rigger got hit and made a big run and when I got it closer, all I saw was a 3 pound fish which was on the main bait and a 15# on the slider. I had to reel the dink up to the rod tip to net the good one...comical to say the least. All glow spoons and white flashers with a glow fly is all I've been running. Temp is certainly all out of wack now with the big south that blew all weekend. Everyone is fishing on the deep side of the bank. Good luck to all.
  14. Fished last night and went o for 2. Water temp was 68 on the surface with the break around 90 feet. Some fish caught were on the riggers 90-120 down from the radio chatter but it was really slow for the majority, especially after last week. LOTS of boats, guys running over each others spreads, radio fights, etc. .....looks like summer has officially begun. Good luck to all.
  15. Got out yesterday by myself around 5 am, set up in 150' and ended up 4 for 7. Kings were 15#, 12#, 7#, and a 6# steelie on a slider. Flounder pounder, Hot Lobster (45 and 60 down), and a white hootchie/ squid on a dipsey 175' back caught the kings. Lost a PIG on the dipsey that took me to 320 on the counter. Had to put it in a holder because I had a triple going and boated one of them (15#), but had the big one fall off just behind the boat. Done fishing at 6:25am. Good luck to all this weekend.
  16. Thanks everybody for your advice. I will be going out of Frankfort in the morning and will report on Friday. -Mark
  17. How far behind the ball do you run your spoons then? I usually try to keep everything about the same distance back. I'm not sure if it's best, but it does catch fish and I don't get tangled very often.
  18. How far behind the ball do you run your dodger/flashers? I was looking at a squid package that recommends 48"-60" back. I've always run them at least twice that far, if not further. Also, am I correct in saying that the further back, the slower the roll? Different lengths for different size hootchie/spin docs? Thanks in advance for your advice.
  19. Fished Saturday morning out of Frankfort by myself and went 2 for 6. Big king was 14# on Blue Dolphin/ Dipsey 150' back. Fish shut off at 6:30, pulled lines at 7:45. Went out Sunday morning with two buds and went 1 for 5, best king on the same dipsey and it shut off at 6:30 again. Continued fishing until 9:30 without a touch and pulled lines. All fish cleaned had NOTHING in their bellies...hope it gets better soon.
  20. Went out in the fog Thursday morning and it was slow. Fished the Herring Hole out to 250' and didn't have a bump. I will be going this weekend, probably heading north. Good luck everybody.
  21. Went out again Monday morning as my friends did pretty good over the weekend out of Frankfort. The bite was slow, I went 2 for 2 both on full core. The better king was about 10# on Blue Dolphin in about 220 feet. I will be going either out of Frankfort or the islands out of Glen Arbor on Thursday, weather depending.
  22. I was wondering if anyone knew who does the lower unit conversions from prop to jet, like the ones I see on the Manistee river. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Mark
  23. Fished yesterday morning out of Frankfort, down toward the Herring Hole. 4 for 6 all fish were jacks barely two pounds, shook 'em off with the pliers. most came on Hey Baby on a slider, the others on White Chilly Willy on a rigger 75 down. Surface temp was 15 degrees warmer than last week, around 56. Fished in 130-230 feet. Hope the big fish are there this weekend. Good luck to all.
  24. My boat is off, off, white with a 120 I/O. Runs like a champ and has quite a bit of room with the cab forward design.
  25. Fished yesterday (25th) with Spoonfeeder. Tried going deep toward the point but no bites. Waves were still a little big and building so we set up at the pierheads and had two kings around 6 pounds, 25 and 16 down on fishcatcher/squid and blue Chilly. I will be there this weekend, but don't know much about fishing the area...any help would be appreciated. Also, what channel do they use down there?
