  1. I will be ANXIOUSLY waiting.. I could post the whole MULTITUDE of questions I have, but then again I must be respectfull of you guys and your time as well.. ask a little bit as I go
  2. From what little ive seen it makes sense. We had that palomar knot set up and while we would get tiny "bumps" or takes on the line, whenever we pulled up, nothing was there. Perhaps they felt that one ounce sinker tied on tight there and wanted nothing to do with it. Goin to try some of these new tactics on Sunday morning I think.. Now I just need to find the right river close by here with a lil bit of current and fish in it.
  3. Ive seen a rig that was for the River at Pere Marquette. It was basically a 1-2 ounce egg sinker tied with a palomar... the guy then took the tag end and tied a treble to the end where he attached his floating spawn. I read an article talking about leader length from the sinker and I was wondering what your guys thoughts were... Ive played with it a lil bit but with little success. Does current play a role here as well? I was also thinking about exterior floats like wobble glows and such. But I guess I should start with leader length.
  4. Man I wish I had money... One day. Im sure that boat will make someone very happy. Im a good dishwasher if your feeling generous. =)
  5. Yes... This guy was a fisherman which really suprised me... he had it full throttle till right before the old drawbridge there. If it wasnt a waste of 10 bucks I would have rifled my Rapala J-13 at him.
  6. Fantastic Pictures! I had an aunt and a Uncle that lived in Grand Marais... been there once when I was young. Asked my uncle on a walk why he had Sardine cans nailed to tree's... "thats how you tell if you have a bear nearby" he said. As I walked by the opened can on the tree... "can we go back now?" on a side note, LOVE PIKE... It tastes so good I deal with the bones.
  7. Ive been trying the whole Salmon/trout fishing thing for the past 6 years with limited success. Basically my knowledge has been based on what I have seen others doing and is more of a guess in terms of patterns, weather, and reports from other anglers. My first time out was at Lexington where we caught 7 fish on spoons right in that first sandy cove there in the harbor. I watched some younger guys who were using glow yarn hook up with a fish every Minute and a half and I was hooked. There seems to be a wealth of information on here that I would like to tap. Im starting to put more money, time, and resources into this as I try to get better. Here is what I know. 1. Casting Spoons/cranks ie J-13's etc (there really isnt too much to this is there? cast and retrieve) 2. Using spawn... This is really the ticket I think... Most the fisherman I see are using this in some shape or form. basically seen one rig looked like an egg sinker tied with a palomar knot and the tag end about 18 inches had either the single hook or treble with the floating spawn sac. 3. Floating spawn? No idea how this is done. Obviously there must be different rigs and nuances that I am missing. It could just be that I am in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I also believe that chance favors the prepared. I just dont feel that I know enough on this. Sorry if this has totally rambled on you guys. Any help on Rigs, Places, techniques.. is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks again Cris
  8. Got to the Black River mouth about 5:30pm yesterday evening. Lots of people on the North wall, and lots of people not catching anything. Only heard from one guy that caught anything and that was a small Coho. Emerald Shiners seemed to be the hot ticket there. Fished at the River mouth till about 8 pm. Had a fish chase and strike at a spoon right at shore, and some Jerk in a boat come ripping in the mouth at breakneck speed taking half my friends spool off his reel. (didnt even have time to get it in) From there went to Lexington to try some luck there but to no avail. Total ghost town. got there about 8:30pm and fished till 12am. The only other fisherman we seen there were actually leaving when we arrived. Had one small tap on a spawn rig, but no hookups. Im thinking it was just too warm, and im hoping with some colder weather it will turn up again.
  9. Ill be there... Look for the Black Army hoodie and Brewers hat. Mouth of the black river that is.. starting out.
  10. Still plan on heading out there tommorow, but I heard from a guy I work with who lives in Port Huron, that there has been good action on the Black River mouth there by the St Clair river. I plan on trying the north end there first, then working my way north if there is no action.
  11. Fantastic.. I hope it keeps up into friday evening!!!! Thanks again all!
  12. Ive heard of the "spot" by the power plant . There is an access? off the main rd? Now im really intrigued. Oh how I wish I had a good map =)
  13. Ice fishing for steelhead? oh I must know more.
  14. I think I can get to the south wall in port Sanilac by foot, but is the north wall in Harbor Beach the one that runs parallel with the Marina? Ive seen a wall on there, but it does not look accessible by foot.
  15. Awesome GUYS! thanks for the info. I will be going to Port Sanilac from the sounds of it.. I have an large amount of J 13's and Cleos... are guys doing well there at Night? Also ive constructed a new rod holder thats hinged for using spawn on the rivers... Ill post some pics on here when done and you can tell me what you think. Thanks again for this information! Awesome.
  16. Great site guys as I am new to fishing this side of the glove. I was hoping for a little guidance on some locations and run reports on Lake Huron. Ive checked some maps and noticed some harbors like Lexington, Port Sanilac, Harbor Beach, and Port Austin. Do these areas produce good fish or is the run already over? Also I was wondering on local rivers, access, and best methods. Any help would be greatly appreciated considering the season is coming close to an end. All information is greatly appreciated! Take care and tight lines! Cris.
