  1. Went 7 for 10.

    3 kings

    1 steelhead

    3 lake trout(thrown back)

    85-90 fow. South Troll.

2 Wire slide diver w/ 75 foot leader took most the fish/hits. Set on 1. 100 & 125 back. They had Meat rigs UV gasoline on a pro troll plaid 11 inch flasher & uv gasoline on a pro troll plaid with purple stripe 11 inch flasher.

Copper 200 with a warrior uv elite lemon head (took a king)

Copper 150 with moonshine glow bloody nose(i don't remember what it took).

We started at 3 pm. Got 2 hits & misses early then the big show didn't start until an hour before dark.

We got to the launch at about 10:30pm. C.O. was there doing cooler and license checks.

  2. Go wire and you won't go back. We put wire divers on our boat this year (we have a small 16') and they've probably caught half our fish. You can run them shallow or deep it doesn't matter they just plain catch fish! We rig ours with slide divers on 50ft 30lb mono leads with a short segment of 65lb braid to connect the wire to the mono.

We added 1 wire to our boat this year too. Well, then we got our first hit. The 1 wire rod turned into 2 rods overnight. I ordered slide divers w/ the big rings & weight kit. If you can't afford the wire this year. Order the slide diver now and run your current mono setup with a longer leader thanks to the slide diver. Don't even bother with braid. Save the money for the wire setup. If you happen to run meat deep on a wire slide diver. Just make sure your rod holder can withstand a very active king resembling a freight train hitting it.

  3. It's crazy. 5 years ago it did this on 4th of July.. My brother and I headed out..got beat up pretty good by 4-6 footers but in 1 pass pier heads to tunnel park and back 25-50fow we totally boxed out on monster kings, giant steel head and a few dandy lakers.. Took a cruise to the beach tonight and it broke my heart to see the fishy water with no boats upon it. I know wat ur all thinking-y didn't I go out? It's because I no longer have my big boat and now unfortunately restricted to a 14footer.. Hopefully someone will capitalize on the fish before the big red this weekend..they'll prolly catch them all..lol

The water has been cold in close for a few days. Before the storm hit It was calm enough for a 14 footer to go out. There was quite a few people here in south haven trolling the shallow water. I've been on the pier the last few days having a blast. No boat needed. Yesterday, I had to move to the southern pier due to the waves. This happens every year.

  4. Went 3-3 today(maybe 2.5?). 4pm to 8pm. (horrible hours tbh. if you go. go early morning or stay after the sun hits the water). dropped lines just outside the pier head. Went to 100 but bounced around 80-90. Saw some nice bait balls. Couldn't get anything to fire around the bait.

(80 fow east troll)wire slide diver set on 2 out 90. (blueish spoon) This was a nice steelhead. Awesome aerial show until of course I pulled out the camera. I should have weighed it. That was the first time i used a side diver. I probably won't ever use a dipsy ever again. Thanks for that suggestion!

On the copper 200 & 300. I'm really not sure which. I caught a nice perch. I don't remember what lure was on what rod. It got tangled really well. Took an hour to reel in both rods at the same time & untwist. Finally, got the copper all untwisted and cut the leaders & hand pulled in the perch. The entire process took about an hour. Those cv55l's get awfully heavy when you're holding two of them and passing them hand over hand to yourself.

(60 fow east troll)Copper 250 caught the other steelhead. I don't remember the spoon. I was beat after dealing with the perch fiasco.
